While there's a few details I still have to add, for the most part she's a wrap. I'll be at NNL East tomorrow morning with my un-woody
-
Thank you all for your encouragement and kind words during this build. But I'm happy to post I'm done. For now... I have to add a few little things, but I'll on the table tomorrow morning at the best BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH show in the country. I feel pretty friggen good right now. And now, a preview of WOODN'T More pictures in the Under Glass section

Going in for the kill..... Finished pictures in a few hours. I hope..
-
Thanks again for the comments everyone. Your helping me along greatly. This is going together pretty good. I managed to lose, and find, two of the tiny resin air horns for the carbs. That's when I called it a night! As much as I'd like to call in sick and finish this at my leisure, we all must wait about 10 hours before we resume. And believe me, I'm just as anxious yo see it together.
-
And another teaser shot..... Still have to paint the air horns, the front spring, mount the headlights & tail light, do the grill insert, make windows, paint the roof, assemble the engine in the chassis, put the wheels on.... and try not to drop it.
-
First of all, allow me to publicly thank my Wife, Amy, for tolerating all my hobbies with open minded support and understanding. Even as I'm getting cranky.... To-Do list is getting shorter, almost everything left is assembly. I took a break for a glass of milk & a muffin and decided to post 2 update pictures. Here's a quick teaser shot of the engine with the headers next to it. Ignition is done, assembling the carbs & fuel lines next. And here's a shot showing the stainless axle against the titanium frame. No bling here.... Off to the kitchen for a snack while my little boy Buddy watches me. This is Buddy..... Might be a late nite gang. I might substitute coffee for the milk....

Keep it up and I'll build another one! Thanks for the compliments everyone, it means a lot. Especially considering the vacation I had from building! As for the interior it's going to be exactly the same as the chassis: unseen. This is a shelf build with no interior of chassis detailing, except for what's visible. Hey, my first build was a pre-painted kit. This ones a shelf build. Maybe the third one I won't tint the windows black Lunch break is over. Watch for an update later tonight and thanks again for the feedback. I'm having more fun than what should be legal, or at least for free....

Thanks Bill. I'm guessing people don't agree with the dark metal color choice, but it looks really nice. I got the revised intake done last night. Tonight I'm spending most of the night finishing ip paint & detailing the engine. Thanks for checking in! Hopefully tomorrow night.....

Me too!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I must admit my phobia is paint. I clench up tight enough to crush a walnut in my navel at the thought of painting a project. All the while, it's just a peeve of mine from doing crappy work in the past. Today I decided to just do it....and I did. Paint is Titanium metalizer with sealer. It's a nice dark, subtle tone. Chassis & grill shell are body color too. The stainless steel really pops nicely in person. Pictures don't do it justice I know it's not perfect, but the whole idea was to build something quick. Then it became NNL East bound. I'm really trying to get it together... More to follow.

It's going to be Titianium.

Wow..... don't think about it. I had a '68 383-S 4 spd. Fastback when I was a kid. Couldn't get $1,200 for it in 1978 so I traded it for a '70 Sedan DeVille. The factory exhaust manifolds for the A body B engine are worth that much alone today....,.
-
Only because Bill asked: Titainium. With the stainless inserts. Should be neat.... a Woody without Wood

What happened is I thought the original runners were too thin, so I beefed it up. But now the runners don't FIT between each other when they cross over. I might drop the cross ram idea.., I'm busy tonight, so maybe its good I take a break. Besides, this ensures Kaos later in the week.
-
The good news..... the body is in primer and ready. The bad news....... this *#@!&#% intake is killing me! Might revise it a bit. If I don't step on it first.
-
Nobody's asked what color it's going to be?
-
OK... as good as yesterday was, today the opposite. The F`up Faries came crawling out from the dark corners and took up some bench space. After 2 hours of not making progress, I packed it in. I painted a few small bits so I can get the engine done. Tomorrow I hope to have everything in finish primer. Provided I can get it done before I have to go out... Here the firewall is roughed in. Some minor filling and were ready for the finish coat, which is going to be.... I'm a Mopar guy. I love the old long ram intakes on the 413's. I have a six barrel on my Barracuda. Let's do both....provided I don't loose my mind aligning everything. Six Stromberg's will reside on the runners with some sa-weeet curved air horns from my friend Norm at Replicas & Miniatures. To say it's going to be a bit visual is an understatement. More to come. Nitey-nite....

Go ahead, keep encouraging me! Thanks for the feedback, I do appreciate it (especially since its positive!) and I'm trying my best to have it done for NNL East. As for the sheet metal I'm using, I had gotten a small amount from a friend whom told me it was stainless steel shim stock. It cuts with manicure scissors and leaves a straight, smooth edge. This stuff is great for flat surfaces, but will kink & ripple like tin foil if you get rough.... I went back up to work some more last night after my last post. But when I started cursing louder than the music playing in the room my Wife suggested it was bed time. The intake is making me nuts. Kinda like hearding cats with greased hands. You'll see (hopefully....) later tonight. I'm having so much fun with this....

Thanks Bill. Watching you, Randy, John, and all the other notable builders only encourages me to try a little harder. Before my hiatus I was building often and hitting all the shows from Ohio to Mass. Then about 9 yrs. ago I stopped building, but never left the hobby. It feels good to get back in active again.

I get money back, mine are done buy the end of Jan. I honestly think I have a shot at NNL East with this thing. I got all the annoying fabricating & soldering done today. Now it's just a matter of paint & assembly, believe it or not! See? Metalizer's rule! Stay tuned kiddies.....
-
Used a vise as a sheet metal press. Makes sense! Beautiful results. I'll have to practice this next. What I'd give to see this build, in any state of assembly, in person. Geeeez....

OK, life has been challenging me to find spare time. Today I forfeited a nice day outside and stayed in the hobby room with Pandora cranking out some serious tunes. And we made progress! First up: I needed a rear hatch. The one in the kit would have been too fragile if I spliced in material, so I just made a new one. Then we soldered on the radius rods and set ride height Next up: One ridiculous intake on top of our Ardun. More silliness to follow. I'm off to paint the block, heads, and possibly the frame tonight. As always, love/hate....send it.

How the #@&$ did you form what appears to be a ONE PIECE floorboard. ?!?!?!?! HOW ?!?! If you have to, please type slowly.... and use pictures. I just can't wrap my head around this if its one piece.....

Yeah, if push comes to shove I guess I could.....But now in the back of my mind I know I can coast! Gotta focus.... go get wife from train, make dinner, build model. Sleep later.... I can do this.
