  1. I appreciate the encouragement, but I'm still getting my feet wet again. I don't think I'm NNL bound with this one but I will finish it. You guys who know me understand what I'm trying to get back into. This Edsel is a snack....
  2. Even though its a low-tech build, it's going to get finished! I figure I'll try one more "easy" build before we break out the saws & torches.
  3. Geeez.... I don't know what to post. Saying this is one of the most inspiring builds ever shared would still be an understatement. Saying epic or beautiful are just words. This is a much stronger, like an experience. And a very good one. I'll say it every time you post: Thank You
  4. You got me finishing mine Rich. Hows your paint coming along?
  5. Basically lowered with a wheel/tire swap, disc brakes, and some detailing. Nothing too crazy. With all the killer builds going on it's getting me interested. I have to get back up to speed. Just have to add all the little bits-n-pieces: lights, wipers, bumpers, etc.
  6. I'll finish it in the next night or two. Then we try something involving a little more involvement.
  7. OK, fast forward 15 months or so..... back to the Edsel. As was originally planned as a way to ease back into building hit the wall last year. With house projects, work, playing with the 1:1 toy, family, etc. it sat & sat. I keep reading the forum and buying stuff, but the build stopped. Until this morning. Me & the Wife went out shopping and stopped by the hobby shop. I couldn't resist and bought the `68 Hemi Dart kit. My ever supportive Wife smiled and asked how the Edsel was doing. Busted.... She suggested I finish it. She's right.
  8. No doubt John can build. All the body splicing & finishing are incredible. To take so many different pieces and make them flow takes talent. Not my taste as far a subject matter either, but still an incredible undertaking. And I noticed some other updates sure to please. Nice job John. You go where most of us can't.
  9. Looks great. What paint scheme do you have in mind? And if it matters, I'd go with the 409. But with a half a dozen Strombergs on top of the blower.
  10. Aside from a nice build, you definitely have a talent for presentation. Nice write-up & photography! BTW: Wheels + body color = Perfect!
  11. BTW: How much metal did you initially plan on using, and have you surpassed that point? I'm waiting to see the wooden fender bucks and sheet metal....
  12. I agree with the above comments. Watching this being created is amazing. The accuracy, realism, skill, and sterile build style make for a master class. Thank you.
  13. Yeah, Rich can do an interior right. Great choice of colors.
  14. Nice!!!!! Like I said, always a treat! I've been having such a hard time getting back into it...... I have a million ideas and a separate well stocked hobby room, and I can't get started. And here's the punch line: I'm still buying stuff. Geeeez......
  15. I can't wait to see your interior Rich. It's always a treat when you start flocking around. Maybe this will motivate me to finish mine. We'll see it at NNL, right?
  16. Good to hear some old friends are rolling in. I keep buying stuff, occasionally peek in the hobby room, and get nothing done...... <sigh.....>. I'll be there with my lovely wife catching up with friends, whom will probably berate me for be lazy & un-motivated. Didn't I say last year I'll bring something NEXT year?!?! See ya'll next month.
  17. Nice job Bill! I can't wait to see this puppy up on it's paws. Speaking of brass masterpieces..... Randy, what's up with your project?
  18. That is done right! Nice job!!!!
  19. Funny thing is when John posted the engine mocked-up, the passenger side is correct. Just the drivers side is reversed.... Yeah, it's a boo-boo. But it is an epic build of an "interesting" vehicle.
  20. He does mention he uses refrigerator door skins for ALL his dashboards. I wonder what else he's built?
  21. The bottom two pictures the arms are orinented in the same direction while the chassis is flipped. That was my question. So the 00-90 bolts go up into the struts inside these cups, and the bottom gets capped? Cool....
  22. I have a question on your suspension design. I see you have the lower control arms swapped around in two different pictures. Are the open cups supposed to face down, and the 00-90 bolts screw up into the struts and get capped on the bottom? In the bottom picture the open cups face UP, or reversed. Just trying to clarify which end is up, or down .... Otherwise, carry on with the awesomeness.
  23. I agree. The heads & valve covers ARE upside down. And I'm not counting rivets, just making an observation. Just because John can build doesn't mean he's immune to mistakes..... I bet it happens to us all.
  24. Bill...Bill...Bill....... your killing us. Absolutely amazing..... Thank you.
