Very nice build indeed. And as for the trim, just last night I caught up with my DVR recordings and saw an episode of Graveyard Carz where Mark was installing, and explaining, the black trim. Interesting this topic turns up today! Google their shows and you'll probably find it within the last week or two. It's a triple black 340 car. Beautiful car, like your model.

OK Rich, you go! Great project!

Cool build so far! What engine , wheels, color?

I wonder if Bill has a scrap bucket as heavy as mine..... I fought with the radius arms and ended up making a new axle. I didn't make nearly the progress I wanted to last night, but am making progress. I have to focus harder..... Thanks everyone for the encouragement

I feel like I build with my feet when I look at Bill's work......

Thanks Rich! I'm anxious to build something that's "me" and not pre-painted BTW: If anyone has any decent site suggestions for Ardun detail shots, please pass it on. That's where I do my best work.... and I'd rather not make s mistake due to unfamiliarity. After I run my Mother-in-law home after dinner I'm planning on working tonight. We're both off tomorrow (going to opening day at CitiField) so it can be a late night. Details to follow.....

Exactly....... I don't want to give it all away just yet, but there's not going to be much Wood anywhere near this thing.

It's been a busy week, but I did manage to make it to my LHS and stock up on some brass. I'm building this as a curbside, so where I'm not detailing the chassis or interior, I'll make up for it where I can. I'm fabricating the dropped axle and springs from brass. Some of the small brackets for the spring mounts are from a fret of brass military photo-etch I picked up who knows where or when. Here's a few progress shots. I'm taking a break as my old eyes are getting tired. I've started using my lighted magnifier I've owned for 15 years, but never turned on..... I'll be back....

When the "solution" is the problem!

I forgot to add, our inspections are done at any NYS registered facility that meets the States requirements. New car dealer, independent repair shop, Pep Boys, Etc. You'll always be at the mercy of thieves and scammers. Chose your repair shop wisely. The stuff I've seen done that we have to undo is frightening at times..... Ever see a Check Engine Light bulb jumped to light with the Oil Pressure warning light? You know, the light that comes on with the key & always ( hopefully....) goes out when the car starts? I have. Amazing the lenghts some shops will go through to fool the customer into thinking its repaired instead of actually repairing it! This example I personally witnessed, performed by a used car lot. Person came in for his annual inspection with no Chrck Engine Light, but several codes stored that he never knew about because his CEL was by-passed & hot-wired!!!!! -

Being a NYS inspector I can vouch on the dyno-testing incidents due to incompetence. That was a horror to complete. You had to follow a "drive cycle" where you accelerated while driving on dyno rollers watching a video monitor, trying to keep the car (a small dot...) between a narrow rising & falling pattern. At the peak speed you were in the 53-55 MPH range strapped to the dyno. All the while having a probe in the tailpipe with the entire exhaust sample running through a V-mass sensor reading data and sending it to the computer. The chances of a mistake or failure was high. It was a huge PITA. And that's if you knew what you were doing. Incompetence occasionally had tragic results. Today we have evolved to a simple system. Cars up to 2 yrs. old require a $10 Safety Only inspection. Vehicles 25 yrs. & older are eligible too. All other years require an OBD II scan. If you have no engine codes and all the detectable systems are stable, you pass. If your check engine light is on you shouldn't be surprised to fail. It's a simple system. And yes, it's a required $37 per year. And it's hard to scam. The State computer reads the vin. & compares it to the registration scanned. It's car specific.... The NYS emission testing is required in the heavily populated 5 boroughs, meaning the NYC area. Upstate no emissions is required. Ironically, my Barracuda passes by just having the safety items in working order, tail pipe output be damned! -
Thanks Steve. Been a while since we last spoke (model car list days?) The Woody will be on hiatus till the weekend. Today me & the Mrs. are celebrating our 10th. wedding anniversary. Then I'll try & finish this for NNL East.

Thanks Rich. I've been thinking of our friend the entire build Yeah, I'm finally enjoying building again. I was at the bench for about 2hours last night fabricating a dropped front axle from brass. I'll try & post pictures later tonight. Dare I say it, but I might sctually have something for NNL East !

Just a quick post to show there is progress. I attached the stainless inserts to .010 sheet plastic. Now I can clean it up and trim it when I need it. This stuff looks soooo nice. Watching a re-broadcast of the Mets getting reamed earlier today. Time to hit the hobby room.....*

If you want to hunt Ferrari's, you better be packing enough. And 12 cylinders is a good jumping off point Haven't figured out if I want the 4 X 4 bbls, or the 12 pack. I started this thing ages ago to power.... well, we'll talk about that in another thread. But it caught my attention that someone else was screwy enough to swap this thing in a project. I'm really surprised not more builds use this piece. Looks good, keep it up. And the twin turbo / blower set-up was awesome!

Great job on the engine & chassis. And the stance is right

Awe man! That blows..... How's the T-bird coming along?
-
I was going to say the same thing, but with something other than machining before the word genius.....
-
Yeah, we got some fitment challenges stuffing that wide engine in there, but it'll work. Hoping for epic progress tonight.

1/25th. scale Zerk fittings........ I don't think I've ever had that thought in my mind. Ever. I mean, in my totall recall of anything I've ever read, said, or thought of, I can say with all honesty I've never experienced those numerals and characers stringed together to form those words: 1/25th. scale Zerk fittings.......wow.

I cut the hood open, stuffed in the engine, and my back started to hurt. Tomorrows another day.... Motrin & bed. Nighty-nite

OK, this is getting somewhere. Here you can see the thin shim-stock I'm using for the inserts where the wood used to be. Oh yeah, it's going to be a sedan delivery too. This shot shows how thin this stuff is. And it cuts with manicure scissors! I also C'ed the frame and dropped in a floor. I clipped the frame horns on the deuce rails and have started to rough-in the opening for the engine to stick through. I can't find the arbor for my dremel's saw, so I'm stuck until tomorrow when now I must go to my LHS. Here's my last update for tonight.
