Hmmm, building 2 of the Lindbergs right now. Would suck to buy the kit and it have the ugly bumpers. Anyway, Harts Parts Resin has the bumpers without the guards and with very little touch-up they fit perfectly. But of course you will have to Alclad or Molotow them.

I only have the gray and white Stynylrez, gotta get black. I know they say the Stynylrez doesn't need thinning. What do you do?? It just seems most of the time when I use the Stynylrez it dries a bit rough.

I decided after finishing the tires and them looking good, to take the red back off. Just not red enough for my liking without the white undercoat. Got white on now and will use a Model Master gloss acrylic red that I have. I'm hoping will look better.

As I am about to embark on painting 2 Chevelle SS models (to replicate my first new car purchase then what I did later on). I searched and found this thread. Now, it certainly is not the first black paint job I have done, my thought on these is black primer. I'm most likely going with Createx Opaque Black since I have used it a good bit but since I have been using Stynylrez gray primer with mixed results I'm wondering if there is another acrylic primer I may be happier with, i.e. Tamiya, Mr. Hobby. I tried Createx Autoborne black sealer on a previous model and it was super smooth but unless I'm doing something wrong it easily scratches off. By the way, the Duplicolor idea sounds pretty nice but I'm done with rattle can painting and I only want to use acrylic. What ya got my Friends???

Well of course, yours look great. These tires are a different set than the ones you used...not that that makes any difference, just sayin'. I'm sure I would have had a better look with a more glossy paint. As you know craft paints (at least the one I used) dry flat. Now, did you use any sealer coat over the tires?? Don't need the tires to be glossy but need the red to stand out a bit more.

No pics yet, but I finally got the hang of it. Thinned red craft paint probably 60/40 water to paint. Used 20/0 fine brush and basically did the capillary method, wetting the brush pretty good, touch in the groove and kind of drag the paint around. Still wanna get a few more coats on (already likely 8 to 10 coats to get it red enough) . Did not use white base, just the red in the groove. Again thanks for all the advise.

I only wish I had a Hobby town in the Nashville area. Just HL.

Thanks fellows for your recommendations. Since my only source for buying paint (other than HL) all my purchases have to be online so the cost goes up because of the shipping. Usually I paint small metal parts with a brush. I do like the Krylon Chrome Foil spraypaint (get it at HL when they have it) for gas tanks, exhaust pipes and mufflers. For stock cast steel exhaust manifolds I have used MM magnisum (no longer available) overcoated with dull coat but I'm amost out of it.
