  1. Any chance that a high resolution scan could be done on the original decals so that a new set could be printed out?
  2. Looking forward to this kit.
  3. If you are going to go to the trouble of cutting off the hood, 2 minutes with a dremel to remove the posts shouldn’t be a big deal…
  4. I wouldn’t be doing it even if it were a separate part. Thus my initial discussion point/issue creation.
  5. From what others have posted, the kit from AMT. I haven’t tried it, so can’t confirm personally. Now that Erik has cleared things up a little, I can be patient. 👍🏻
  6. Haven’t seen anything about it recently (did an internet search a few weeks ago), but I wish that whatever nitpicky regulation caused this would be dropped. Japan typically has really stringent regulations for their products, so I can’t help but think whatever happened here was some minor technicality that some bureaucrat fell upon but isn’t really a practical problem. Nobody is dropping like flies from using Tamiya paints, so hopefully common sense comes into play at some point.
  7. Didn’t think so, but even if you were it would be okay. I have a tendency to let my passion for the hobby (and old cars in general) get the best of me sometimes, so rambling on for several paragraphs is not out of character, much to the chagrin of others, I’m sure.
  8. LOL One man’s discussion is another man’s issue. Touché!
  9. Aha! That clears it up! Thanks Erik!
  10. That’s a good take on this from the front lines. The wallet speaks loudest. In case there is any confusion, I wasn’t suggesting that the street rod versions should be sacrificed in order to sell pure stock versions, only that it would be nice for the pure stock builder to have a flat hood in the stock kit. However, as Bob said, there are likely many versions in the queue, so maybe we will see a flat hood someday. If not, that’s okay too, as long as Moebius continues to be able to bring us great product as they have been for some time.
  11. I could be misinterpreting the intent of this version, and I apologize in advance if this is the case… as it stands, however, I’m just a little perplexed as to why a ‘stock’ version would be conceived with a hood that was reportedly not available for that model. Granted, it’s a cool-looking hood, but it’s in the most visible location on the model, such that anyone wanting to build it out of the box as a stock vehicle has to rob another kit. It’s not like having an incorrect carburetor or wiper motor that only the purists would notice… it’s the hood, out there in plain sight. The last thing I want to do is to turn this into some sort of issue, as it’s really not a big deal. I already have an AMT kit, and I like these cars, but not enough that I want to build every version of them. So for me, I’ll probably just pass on this one and build the crude but stock appearing ex-Craftsman kit. If it had a stock hood, that would be the final push to get me to purchase one for the extra details, superior chassis, etc. I will still likely get the pro touring version though. And as you say, maybe there is a version coming with a flat hood that will satisfy folks like myself. I did buy the almost-stock versions of the ‘65 Belvedere and Dodge 2-door sedans, however. So I’m sure this philosophy has enough of a business case behind it to make sense to the bottom line for the company, and capture the majority who don’t mind scavenging parts from other kits, and TBH I’m happy to see it coming out. It just frustrates me a little to see it go 95% if the way when it seems to the layman like myself that it wouldn’t have required much effort or expense to put the proper hood in the stock version and the scooped hood in the pro touring and race versions… or put both hoods in all versions (again, maybe my protestations are premature…). But in the end, not a big deal, nobody lives or dies because of it, but IMHO still worthy if discussion on a discussion forum about model cars. 👍🏻
  12. Has it been confirmed that the stock version doesn’t have a stock (flat, non-scooped) hood? I really don’t want to raid another kit or buy from the aftermarket just to build it correctly.
  13. On the renderings I’ve seen, the rear quarter window shape seems off. Probably not an overly difficult fix with a file, some strip styrene and putty, but it would take some work to make it look right. Can’t speak for the rest of it, though. The quarter window jumped out at me.
  14. Welcome to the new economy.
  15. I agree that it would be nice if Round 2 could tool up a bench seat to toss in there. I’ll buy a couple either way, but it would be nice to have options, and make it easier to toss together a base model to go alongside the 340 version. Might even buy an extra one if that were the case.
  16. I’ve been picking up the odd Japanese kit here and there lately, and I have to say one of my disappointments with most of them is that they come only in JDM trim. While I understand why, I would still like to see parts added for LHD and overseas trim, as for the most part it wouldn’t seem to add much cost to the kit. No problem, though, as I will still build them as is, but have already decided that I will leave off the little fender mirrors, because I personally feel that they detract from the appearance of the car, even if it is incorrect to do so… Thanks for the info on the Japan releases, BTW. Still hoping to see the 1970s Corolla coupe reissued one of these days…
  17. I’m mostly holding out for the cloned ‘60 Nomad, ‘64/5 Barracuda, and ‘72 Duster that are to hopefully appear sometime this year (provided that all the tariff nonsense hasn’t caused them to be delayed or cancelled). The Charger widebody will probably make it to my stash as well. As for this group, I’m glad to see all of them come back into circulation, as they will invariably make some people happy. I might pick up an Olds, because it’s a great kit and a fantastic chassis donor, the Scirocco intrigues me as well. I will likely get yet another copy of the NASCAR Cyclone, just because. Generally, I’m more enthused about picking up a Jeepster and BRE Datsun, when they are available, though. I love the idea of the Nova, and would dearly love to have a nice rendition of a ‘75 thru ‘78 version, as I owned a couple 1:1s back in the day. However, I can’t get past the misshapen roofline of the AMT kit, that looks a little chopped and a little too squared off, and has since day one. Not to criticize, and perhaps if I didn’t have a personal history with these cars I wouldn’t even notice, but it’s a red flag for me. Luckily, the recent ex-MPC ‘79 Nova has a much better roof (not perfect, but usable), and I see that ‘few sprues loose’ has grilles for ’75 thru ‘78 Novas that should work with minor modifications to the front fascia, so that’s the route I will take. Anyhow… I will always be happy to see new releases/reissues, even if they won’t find a home with me. It speaks to the health of the hobby, and that’s always a good thing!
  18. Are those taillights prone to go missing?
  19. Maybe they didn’t want to take away from sales of the Stranger Things Blazer?
  20. Any more leaks on the ex-Revell ‘62 Mopars?
  21. I have long held a remote hope that Round2 would clone one of the Ventura bodies and combine it with the guts of the Nova kits to give us one more option and them expanded use of a good chunk of the Nova tooling, rather than running out the same Nova time and again (plus IMHO, the last version of the Nova was the least attractive). However, I also realize that it might not be popular enough to justify the investment, so I’m not holding my breath…
  22. Thanks for the info and advice! I haven’t gotten into 3D printing yet, but have been thinking about it. It’s good to know all the considerations to take into account before jumping in. Muchly appreciated!
  23. One thing that I’ve been wondering about are the fumes created by the resin or other print materials. I’m wondering if any experienced print folks can give us an idea of what it’s like for air quality having a resin printer running for 24 hours straight. Should a person consider something like a fume hood vented to the outside, or is it not so bad?
  24. Very nice! That conversion looks right on to my eye!
