FANTASTIC!

Finally! I welded in the last section of floor last night. Now to get it cleaned, sealed, and painted. I also received the order from OPGI, the ACC carpet looks great, as do the sill plates. The upholstery seems very stout. One more test fit of the back seat and I can get them to the the upholstery shop. Making progress!

I got the left under the rear seat pan in over the weekend. Its UGLY, but strong and no one will ever see it. Most importantly though is that I learned a bunch and the passenger side shouldn't be that bad

Did some fabbing on the floors over the weekend.

The floor pans are supposed to be delivered today. Since the last update, I used a wire wheel and shop vac to get the rest of the fuzzies and surface rust gone. I have also replaced one of the seat studs that I had to cut to get the drivers seat out. After the floor is done, I am planning on painting it with Rustoleum Farm and implement paint and primer. I have it in my cabinet left over from some work I did on my Silverado.

Yep, original color was green (Emerald Mist). I did anticipate some rust in the floor, but maybe no this much. It looks a lot worse in the pictures because I took a pointed body hammer and beat the snot out of it to expose any weakness. Not a a big deal to weld new metal in though.

All of the floor covering and insulation is finally out. I've ordered some replacement floor pans for the worst of it, the rest will get patches welded in. Wont be pretty, but it will be strong and safe. You can see some of the original color in the pic:

I was able to get the console out last night. Didn't even break anything. I put it on the bench and started cleaning it so it's ready when I'm going to put it back in. Came out better than I had expected:

The carpet and padding is out! Wore lots of ppe to safeguard against the mold and mouse droppings. Working to remove the floor console now. I have a few stuck fasteners soaking in penetrating fluid and hopefully will get back to it on Sunday.

Some minor updates: I am gutting the interior of the car so I can assess the floors and do any patching while the welder and fab table are out. The drivers side bucket seat was a huge PIA. Had to cut one of the studs off and the seat (power) was stuck all the way back, blocking access to the nuts. I was able to get it to move forward to get the rear nuts removed. Now just the center console and I can tear out the extremely gross carpet and padding

Thankfully there is no front license plate requirement in Pennsylvania

Whilst coming up with a plan for more sheet metal work, I decided to remove the bumperettes and try the new swap-meet air cleaner on for a visual Big change in the looks of the front end with the bumperettes removed!
