  1. Straps done..now working on the base for the case..simple road made from grout.. Waiting on supplies for the seat..but its almost done..
  2. Oy..waiting for parts sux..not getting the last if them till friday... Want to finish this thing..and start on the next one. If you don't order from Amazon..everything else takes at least a week or 2... But..I could start the next one while I wait..hmmm
  3. Looks great..I was big fan of Buicks.. Wish I bought a GS when they where affordable..
  4. Now trying to make the leather bonnet straps...the stuff they give you is BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH. Bought some leather..too thick..found some old thin leather gloves and unstiched them. These are about .56mm thick which scales down from 5 to 6mm. Trick to cutting this stuff is covering it with masking tape. Now just waiting on a product that will kill the fuzziness from the backside of it. Then going to try to cover the seat in leather..the back is button tufted so that will be fun figuring that out.
  5. It was my last drink.....
  6. Finished the bonnets..made the brackets that go over the exhaust with some metal from a wine bottle. Weathered with soot.. and oil stains..
  7. Only thing left to do are the straps and the seat...waiting on leather. Might try to make a seat as the one they give you isn't very good. 20251030_100220.mp4
  8. Working on the side frame rails..They give you 2 plain plastic pieces. The real ones are wood with iron fittings and an iron angle running the length of them. Made them out of Sappele wood , brass and plastic stock. The real ones are first 2 pics. Also working on the leather straps..they give you some fake material..I'm thinning out some leather..also bought some..see which is better.
  9. This stuff amazes me...
  10. Awesome! Put it in a field and it looks real.
  11. One of my favorite cars!
  12. Chains on..wheels on..added a bolt and nut to the drive sprockets..They just have you screw it on...
  13. And to think jay leno owns several cars like this..and drives them around!
  14. Finaly finished 1 side chain...really difficult to work with..its a tamiya 1/6 motorcycle chain...hundreds of parts..metal rollers...had to buy 2 of them for about 70 bucks....takes a few days to get them together..like building a friggin watch...just getting it sized took an hour...painted and weathered..
  15. 1/12.. The motor has about 300 pieces. Jay leno owns the only other one like this.
  16. After moving to Utah finaly unpacked and started up on this again. Getting closer. Have to finish building the 2 chains I bought...about 500 pieces to put those together. Craziest thing I ever built.
  17. I think these are a bit out of my range right now..but...that could change after my current build is done.
  18. Working on the fuel system..cut off all the bolts..replaced with real ones..used styrene sheet for the patches and the plate that was missing. Now on to paint The real one I'm trying for.
  19. Awesome stuff.. I've been eyeballing this one...
  20. I'm trying..lots of fiddly bits for sure. Now have to work on fuel system, cooling ,system, exhaust system. Having 600 photos of the real car and other builds really helps.
  21. Ignition system done..not happy with the distributor wiring..just couldn't get it right. Had to make the loom tubes from brass as the plastic ones were BLAH_BLAH_BLAH_BLAH. This is the way it should look At least the plugs and wires came out ok...bought metal plugs..the plastic ones were..not so good..
  22. This is great...will be following along as I struggle to build the mephistopheles... This car is a mini version of it.
  23. Messed up on the firewall..too far foreword. I scratch built the floorboards a tiny bit too long...oh well
  24. Starting to look like a car
  25. Getting there with the firewall. The plastic one is wrong..the boards run up and down on the real one. After several tries with different wood I got it with bass wood for the engine side and oak veneer inside. Had to sandwich the plastic part as it has the bung that the bonnets pivot on. This is the real one. Now have to stain and weather them..then run the 2 cross pieces on the footwell side.
