    you can pick up a 100 count box of #11 blades by hobbico for around $15. i wont say they are the greatest but they are sharp and you'll have plenty to last for a while. just ebay this search term Hobbico #11 Hobby Blades (100)

    i never saw them buy so i can't say for sure but several times when in Hobby Lobby i have seen early to mid teens with a parent looking at kits.

    if you clear the hood with a semi gloss clear its going be semi gloss. with some flat paints you could just wax it and it get the same effect as clearing it with a semi gloss clear. i would try the wax method on a scrap piece before trying it on a good part.
