  1. Thanks everyone for all the great advice. Raoul: Thanks for the link the read was very helpful. ctruss53: Will avoid the round pointy tools. 89AKurt* Will look for a Tamiya green tip tool. espo: Will find the other tutorials here. And get some scribing tape. Assuming I can find it. SteveGuthmiller: Thanks for the detailed description of your technique. And all the other advice in replying to others' comments. The results of your technique shown in your photos speak for its effectiveness. PeteJ. : Will pick up some Tamiya tools. I don't think they will be that expensive here in Japan. Will try and learn patience. Ace-Garageguy: That is the set I plan to get. Glad to hear that the learning curve is not a steep one. Again thanks for the awesome advice! This is an awesome forum! Stay safe and enjoy!
  2. Yes, that is it. No fitment issues worth mentioning. Just not able to paint within the lines on my part. The kit was fun to put together and would recommend it with the caveat that there are no window masks included.
  3. Hello Pete, Yes, the trim on the glass is what killed me on this model. Body trim was only a severe wound. I'm going to try the tape 'n' spray method next time as my freehanding sucks. No worries at all. I'm in Nagoya. Been here for a while. Only been to Okinawa once for a naginata seminar and tournament. What I saw looked nice, though I only saw from the airport, to the hotel, to the dojo and reverse. So can't really judge. If I need some help, I'll be sure to DM you.
  4. Thanks. Oh, I enjoyed building the kit for sure. Just wished the build was executed better, especially the windows.
  5. Thanks. Many kits, as you say have window masks, this one however did not. I'll try regular masking tape next time as my freehand sucks.
  6. Hello all, I’d like to deepen the lines between panels on my builds but am not able to figure out the best way to do so. How do you deepen the lines without slipping and gouging a line in the body? Is there an easy way to do this? Thanks for reading. Stay safe and enjoy!
  7. Well, It’s been a while since I posted. Work and all that other stuff that gets in the way of the enjoyable things. I enjoyed this build very much until the glass. Then it became a major clusterf**k. Nothing seemed to go right. The interior turned out to be the best part of the build in the end. The undercarriage is ok, if just, and the engine bay is the same. Paint isn’t anything special either. It was a good learning build and am ok with the final product.
  8. Glad you like the setting. Yuko made the diorama and I made the Fit. Stay safe and enjoy!
  9. Thanks. It was my first VW and was a fun build. That era had distinctive styling making them interesting. The setting was one of Yuko’s miniature builds. It seemed to fi the vehicle well. stay safe and enjoy
  10. Thanks David, Appreciate the comments. The kit went together well. Your shaggin' wagon looks slick too. Thanks for sharing. The Cafe is Yuko's build. I had nothing to do with it other than appropriate it for my photo shoot. ;) I'll pass along the compliment. Stay safe and enjoy!
  11. Thanks. It was built by my wife.
  12. Thanks. Appreciate you taking the time to look. Thanks. It does sort of look like that. Not sure if that was Yuko's intent or not though.
  13. No worries at all. Happens a lot. Thanks for the recommendations, I’ll check them out.
  14. Thanks. Have lots of junk that might be useful.
  15. Very interesting. That will be easy to pick up. Thanks for the tip!
  16. Thanks for the link. I found the same thing on Amazon Japan.
  17. Yes, it will take me a few builds trying different tricks before I attempt to put them all together in one. Who makes the prewired stuff? I can't find it at Joshin (local hobby shop in Nagoya).
  18. I'll see what there is in the local version of HL here. Thanks for the information. Thanks for the detailed description. It is appreciated.
  19. Thanks for the hints on what kind of material is used. Great work on the scratch built winch.
  20. Thanks for the advice. I’ll hit up Yuko’s favorite craft stores and her box of odds and ends to see what is there. I can only aspire to reach your level of detailing. Awesome work. Thanks for the advice on the “look”.
  21. This forum has some awesome talent that is making me want to improve. An awesome feeling. I’d like to improve my detailing skills on the engine and undercarriage. What do you use for the various lines, hoses cables and belts? And clamps, where do you find clamps at 1/24,1/25 scale? Thanks for taking the time to read this. Stay safe and enjoy.
  22. Glad to hear shipping over the big waters isn’t a problem. And that it is relatively fast is a bonus.
