  1. Thanks for the advice.
  2. Thanks ! Colour is Tamiya Pure Metallic Red (TS-95)
  3. Thank you for the kind comments. I followed the advice that was given to me in the Wood grain painting post. (By the way this forum is awesome) Basically I painted a dark brown (Tamiya X-9), then tried to dry brush some lighter colors over that, (Tamiya X-3 & XF-15) finally I covered it all in clear orange (Tamiya X-26). I am sure there are more woody colours available, but I didn’t feel like spending money so just used what I had. Thanks again. Stay safe and enjoy!
  4. Thanks all for the great advice. I tried it out on the Mercedes and it worked well enough for a first try. Stay safe and enjoy!
  5. Thanks, it was a fun kit to build. I’m sure you’ll enjoy yours when you get to it.
  6. Thanks Luc & 1972 for the detailed explanations. I appreciate the effort you took.
  7. Thank you very much for the detailed explanation! I really appreciate the effort you went through to explain things. Have a wonderful week. Stay safe and enjoy!
  8. Thanks! The colour choices were Yuko's so I can't accept any credit for that, but I do agree that they go together well. Stay safe and enjoy!
  9. Thanks for the information and the link. I appreciate your effort on my behalf in finding a link. I only managed to get written definitions in my search. Stay safe and enjoy!
  10. Thanks
  11. Thanks for the information. Please excuse my ignorance, but while I know what dry brushing is, I don’t know what a “wash” is or how to accomplish it. Would you mind explaining a bit more?
  12. Thanks for the kind words. Stay safe and enjoy!
  13. Thanks. I’m sure it is out of scale. The car is 1/24 and the cafe is whatever my wife felt looked good. Building is close to 1/24 everything else is about. The cafe was built before the model was bought. The combination wasn’t planned. She just thought it looked good there. Stay safe and enjoy!
  14. I‘d like to detail the undercarriage of the kits I build a bit more, but I can’t figure out how to do so. Many of the smaller places a brush won’t even fit. I am referring to the kits that have the transmission, oil pan, driveshaft, etc. all molded in. What do you do to get the most detail out of a stock kit with just paint? Stay safe and enjoy!

    Very stunning build!
  16. Here is the diorama that Yuko thinks best suits the Mercedes Benz 500SL Open build I did. Hope you enjoy the scene. I wasn’t able to get as many of the cafe’s interior as I wanted but I hope you can still see some of the details. Also wish I had a better sense of photography. Stay safe and enjoy!
  17. A very amazing build! Great weathering and details. Stay safe and enjoy!
  18. This is my third kit after returning. I am enjoying building the kits though my technical skills are far from most that I’ve seen showcased here. Each kit I try something new. This kit I tried to do a wood grain on the steering wheel, console and back seat area. Need to be apply the “grains” in smaller doses, I think. As Bare Metal Foil doesn’t exist anywhere I can find in Japan, I found some 1mm Molotow Chrome pens and had a b**ch of a time with them. The results when the pen worked were amazing and awesome, unfortunately it didn’t work for long. The rear emblem is a mess and I didn’t even try the front one. Oh well, there is always next time. I don’t know if I’m making any improvement in my builds but I am enjoying them immensely. Stay safe and enjoy! P.S Sorry for all the photos.
  19. Makes sense when explained. Thanks for the information.
  20. Good to know. Thanks for the tip.
