  1. I made the car & Yuko made the shop. Thanks for looking!
  2. Thank you very much. I’ll pass on the compliment to my wife. Not sure what scale her shop is. I’ve got a couple of bike kits to build when I get more confident and will put them up here.
  3. Thanks. The learning curve is like climbing Everest with a blindfold on. But I will keep at as it is a very enjoyable hobby. and I need the practice. Thanks again!
  4. Thanks for the information, and the link. Both are very helpful. stay safe and enjoy!
  5. Couldn’t find any chrome foil, so would this work instead?
  6. Thanks. I’ll pass on the compliment to my wife.
  7. Thanks! Setting was the wife’s build. I enjoyed building this quite a bit, so am content.
  8. Thanks! Yes, the "glass" was the most difficult part of the build other than my inexperienced paint job.
  9. Thanks!
  10. Thanks! I’ll pass on the compliment. This is about 80-90 hours of work on my estimate, but I could be totally off.
  11. Thank you! Yes, much more talented than I. And better eyesight too.
  12. Thank you very much. It is nice to be back. Glad you like the dio. I’ll pass the sentiments along to the wife.
  13. Thanks! I am glad you like the build.
  14. Thank you. The display was the wife’s build, so I can’t take any credit for that. Forgot a lot of things and am trying to learn the latest tricks but it wi will be fun.
  15. Thanks for all the advice. I think I’ll go with the black primer suggested by Sandboarder then the Black Metallic top coat. After I’ve tested things on a spoon or two. The model’s bare plastic is white. @espo: I haven’t seen any Model Master paints in Nagoya so that option is out. But if I can find them I’ll give them a try. Stay safe and enjoy!
  16. Here is the diorama my wife made that goes well with my model. The building is a mix n match of several kits. The interior stuff was made using molds and clay or some such. Not really sure how she made them to be honest. The photos with the car have been posted in a different area as well.
  17. Here is my first model after a short break from the hobby. Hands are shakier and eyesight is poorer, but really enjoyed building this Honda Fit/Jazz from Tamiya. There is more orange peel than I’d like and the glass is a major train wreck, but overall I am happy with the results. Still a long, long long way to go to get near the rest of you, I know, but it will be a fun journey. Thank you for taking the time to read this. Stay safe and enjoy! P.S. Diorama was made by the wife.
  18. I would like to paint my next model a metallic black. What is the best way to get the metallic to really stand out? Should I paint a light silver base coat before the black? Or is best to just paint the black over the primer? I will be using Tamiya spray cans for the primer (either grey or pink which is better?)/paint (TS-40 Metallic Black & TS-30 Silver Leaf, if I need a base coat.). Thanks for taking the time to read this. Stay safe and enjoy!
  19. @Dpate It is good to know that I don't have to wait overly long before continuing. I will be using Tamiya products as they are the most readily available here. Presently, I would be ecstatic if I could get one that looked as good as Sandboarder's, but eventually I want to be able to achieve the super glossy coats. @FatBrain Glad to hear that the Mr. Super Clear works well. Thanks for all the answers and advice. It is appreciated.
  20. The cuper clear is from a can. As I have no idea what I’m doing I was planning to wet send then polish using the three Tamiya compounds. Would this work or am I being stupid? Or is it recommend? Stay safe and enjoy!
  21. Thanks for the link. The build looks really interesting. I’ll give your technique a try. stay safe and enjoy!
  22. I am using Mr Hobby’s Mr. Super Clear Gloss. I’ll try to wait ten to fourteen days before looking at it again.
  23. How long should I wait before I start polishing after the final coat of clear has been applied? Stay safe and enjoy!
  24. Interesting idea. Unfortunately, my panels are not smooth. Thanks for the idea.
