Project Terminator
Saltie Olds replied to Saltie Olds's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Big Rigs and Heavy Equipment
Great, Thank You. -
Got more done on this truck today. The fender flares, running boards, and bed are all scratchbuilt. Might do more work to the flares, but I’m thinking I’m liking them the way they are. Not sure right now. How I did the hood is I glued on some .100” 1/4 round and then glued on a cut up Monogram Ramcharger hood. Then I sanded it to the shape and look I was after.

Great, Thank You for the suggestion. The trailer undercarriage is going to be black, to match the trucks chassis. -

Cool. I’m planning on painting the trailer. I might go gray or the same color as the truck, or just silver. Not sure right now. -

It’s always looked like a brown or a brown bronze color to me. The interior has always looked a silvery gray color. -
My birthday was this last Monday 4/25, and my wife let me order these two models. I’ll be building my version of the tanker truck from the first Terminator movie. Not sure when I’ll be able to start working on it, but I’ll be posting as I’m building it.

Awesome. A Dodge Power Wagon, like the one you’re building, is my dream truck. -

That’s turning out really awesome looking. I can’t wait to see the final result. -

Thank You. The El Camino is still a 2wd. I saw a lifted El Camino once somewhat similar to mine and wanted to do a model similar to it. I’m going to build another one like it, but I’m going to scan the decals first and need to find another Monogram V8 to put under the hood. -

Thank You. Once I’m able to get a frame and bed stretched the way I want it, I’ll get the parts scanned so that I could 3D print them, any time I’d want to build the truck. -
The VW is the recent ESCI reissue that AMT did.

Cool. I can’t wait to see the finished product.

Thank You. That I did.

Ok, Cool, Thank You. -
This is the AMT Snap Fast Dodge Ram 3500. I stretched the frame to give it the 163” wheelbase, used a ‘77/‘78 GMC plow truck, for the axles and transfer case, to convert it into a 4x4. The front bumper, flatbed and mirror arms are all scratchbuilt. The mirror heads are from a MPC Deserter kit. The tires are from Scenes Unlimited, while he had those tires.

This is the current issue of the Monogram ‘78 El Camino, with the decals from the lowrider 3 ‘n 1, with the red El Camino on the box. The wheels and tires are from a Monogram ‘76 Chevy Blazer kit. I lifted it about 5” or so. I also used the kit glass to fill in the rear side windows. The engine is from a AMT ‘66 442 kit.
