  1. I know the drying time of my paints exactly. It's too bloody long!
  2. 8mm plug leads would be 8/12mm = 0.7mm. That's pretty exactly telephone wire. Buy a telephone extension cord and you get 1/12 scale plug leads galore in several colours for 1.50$ or thereabouts.
  3. Darn good reason to get back to the hobby.
  4. Here is the weather forecast for the next 1000 years:
  5. Nope. It's Massively Over Powered And Rapid.
  6. Yes. It is common practice nowadays to paint the block black and leave the cylinder head unpainted. Undoubtedly the inspiration comes from the Rolls Royce engines and the Mercedes engines used for exhibition purposes. However, Resedagrün is a commonly used colour for all types of machinery in Germany. It used to be DIN (Deutsche Industrie Norm). Ship Diesels, Kraftwerk turbines, lathes, milling machines, hydraulic presses, all were, and often still are, painted this colour. Here is a picture of an M.A.N. Ship Diesel which gives a good impression of what the colour really looks like:
  7. Both Rolls Royces by Monogram were of American prototypes.
  8. They are extremely hard to come by. Original photos are black and white and by now most if not almost all remaining engines have been painted black. It's just nicer at the concourse, since Resedagrün is not exactly an attractive colour. But luckily, I found a photo of an unrestored engine:
  9. Most paint shops should be able to mix you a tin of RAL 6011. Here it is available ready-made off the shelf from most DIYs.
  10. I bet Joe Bortz is kicking himself for not picking it up while it was sitting behind Barris' shop.
  11. If everything fails, you can compliment your London Bus with the Welly diecast FX4. It deffo is 1:24 and it is quite nice actually.
  12. The colour is also wrong, and is often done wrong in restorations. Black was only used on show cars. Production cars had their engines painted Resedagrün RAL 6011. Here is an overview of the RAL colours: https://www.ral-farben.de/uebersicht-ral-classic-farben.html
  13. There was a design competiton for a new London Bus. You can see some of the entries here: http://www.dezeen.com/2008/12/19/a-new-bus-for-london-by-aston-martin-and-foster-partners/comment-page-1/?replytocom=219625
  14. The bus is 1:24. But not that IMAI Taxi, which is 1:20 scale despite it says different on the box. You just can't win.
  15. So let me get this straight. In 2011 Revell gives us a 1:12 scale kit without opening doors, without an opening boot, whithout bonnet hinges as far as I can see it, but with McPherson struts with springs cast as one piece, a one-piece rear suspension cum axle half, and brake discs cast with calipers as one piece?
  16. Be it as it may, H.B. Halicki did a superb job on his resto.
  17. Heller made it in 1/24: Well, it is a 540K Spezial-Roadster if you say it is.
  18. This is the issue with the swirly brownish red parts: Have all the MPC classics been mentioned yet?
  19. Hardly. They won't let you near the cars with a camera.
  20. That's exactly the colour I would chose, too. Make mine a GTX with a green interior and an off-white vinyl roof. Maybe throw in a set of Torque Thrusts as the only non-stock parts.
