Going to the U.S. Nationals!
Junkman replied to SuperStockAndy's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Hey, I also was at Indy last time in 1985. Albeit to watch cars which turned left after the straight. -
Where is money made in private road trasport? How much tax money is spent on the road network?

The Fast & The Furious, Canadian style, eh?
Junkman replied to sjordan2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
125mph. Gosh. Not sure what I would do with a guy crawling along the passing lane of the Autobahn to Deggendorf with only 125mph. -
Pictures of what doesn't exist?

I certainly did have my share of Hotwheels when I was a kid. There were some redlines among them. They are long gone. Then I started collecting them again as an adult during the Eighties and Nineties, all new releases. I must have around 1000 or so. I'm amazed what kind of money some of those can yield already. Would I sell them? Never.

Just send it to me and I'll show you... I'd scratchbuild a car transporter trailer for it and load it with 1/16 AMT 55 and 57 Chevys.

What's it worth ?
Junkman replied to scubadiver411's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I think you guys underestimate the value of the bugs. I'd say they both are comfortably in the 75$ region. I've recently seen an original Inch Pincher issue go for 100+. -

If you think that the deterioration of spelling and grammar is restricted to the English (or American English) language, think again. You would not believe the atrocities that can be read in German and French forums. I think it has much to do with the continuous and sustained deliberate dismantling of the Western culture in favour of this political correctness nonsense. After I found out what absolute rubbish they teach at schools nowadays, courtesy of those stupid UNO and UNESCO bureaucrats, I decided to have my children home schooled. I started school in 1969 and was thus probably among the first victims of these newfangled soviet pedagogic brainwashing methods which only became more advanced the past 40 odd years and by now have completely substituted the academic education of yore. What the so-called education system hands you back when you expose your children to it is downright frightening. A bunch of unfolded self-found morons without manners who can't spell or count. -
Don't think this old news....

A supercharged 312 we have already. But aren't those announced kits both a perfect base for vintage NASCARs? And the 50 Olds a perfect base for Hershel McGriff's Panamericana entry? -

Why is it that most people writing in this thread seem to be in impeccable command of the English language? There are a few typos, but apart from those, I only see very good spelling and grammar in here. -

See, I even missed it the first time around. Still, can you show us the kit in the kit review section, please? -

Has anybody realized that Revell AG just released the 1955 300SLR Uhlenhaut Coupe? It's nice, it's detailed, it's on the shelves, and it's affordable. But no matter what Revell does, they just can't win. -

In defense of the Probe
Junkman replied to Kit Basher's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
The downfall of the first generation Probe is that the spare parts supply is drying up rapidly. -

Corekt. -
This would be the first new car I'd consider buying in more than 20 years. And cruise it up and down the road...

Johan 1963 Oldsmobile
Junkman replied to Jantrix's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
For that, which looks terrific btw., you won't need the stock interior. You may try the one from the custom 62 Catalina for size. -
Why was everything nicer and better in the good old days?

Hear's another tread thread
Junkman replied to sjordan2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I'm afraid you'll draw a blank with Heller too. The Heller tyres are very generic with the exception of the Michelin radials in the 15/6. -

Junkman replied to sjordan2's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
17" is the correct rim size for a 500K and 540K, the tyre size would be 6.50 - 17 or 7.00 - 17 respectively. I have seen factory photos of new cars wearing Continentals or Dunlops. The tyres in the picture posted by Skip I've seen for the first time and just by looking at the tread they seem to be special. I also think that one of the words on the sidewall spells 'REGEN', the German word for rain. This is a chart of which tyre sizes were fitted on pre-war Mercedes from the factory: -

And yes, the perimeter frame would have an X-member, it was hence called the X-Plus frame. -

Correct, the Chevies had the X-frame, but the Olds didn't. That's part of the problem.
