  1. The transmission looks like a blob of plastic with a driveshaft sticking out the back to me. I'll use the M21 that comes in the Revellogram kit. Small block Corvettes should be shifted imho. What I need now are stock valve covers, a stock intake manifold and stock exhaust manifolds. I think, I have to butcher my Camaro after all. But since I found a set of Yenko decals (yes, in 1/12th!), an outright engine swap is not too unlikely. I also ordered detailing sets for both cars from MCG. Once everything is here, I'll start working on the 'Vette, it'll come together one way or the other. Sorry, these rear wheels are spoken for. They come with nice deep dish Cragar SSes btw, so I can only recommend to stock up on the Shaker Trikes. They throw them at out for a tenner a toss on I pay at the moment, so there is no time to be wasted.
  2. Which Jeep kit is this based on?
  3. This is really nice. The entire whip I mean. Can you give a short description of what the engine is made of?
  4. This looks terrific so far. I'm really keen to see how far you are going to take this kit. Will the model be light blue with orange stripes in the end?
  5. I found a 1/12 scale small block Chevy, albeit with incorrect intake manifold, air filter and exhaust manifolds. But I might get it to work:
  6. When I build American cars: George Thorogood and the Delaware Destroyers, Eric Sardinas, Ry Cooder, Johnny Winter, Hounddog Taylor, Ashton Gardner and Dyke, or some nice country like Chet Atkins, Alan Jackson or bluegrass like The Dillards. When I build classics: Max Raabe und das Palast Orchester, Marlene Dietrich, all kinds of hits and dance floor music from the 20s and 30s. When I build European cars: Schubert or Haydn or Bach. I don't like Mozart and Beethoven though. When I build English cars: Dr. Feelgood (from when Lee Brilliaux was still among us), Monthy Python, Sex Pistols - you get the picture. When I build motorcycles: AC/DC (especially from when Bon Scott was still alive), Mötörhead, etc. When I build hot rods: 50s and 60s rock'n'roll, or gothabilly like the Coffin Shakers, etc. When I build TV/movie cars: TV and film tunes, mainly by Lalo Shifrin. When I build sci-fi stuff (like the Aoshima Cyber Formulas, etc.): Techno. I'm particularily fond of travel hop and house. Gosh does this list make me appear old, dunnit?
  7. Erm. There is zero progress since I modified the hood.
  8. I can't agree with the 'anything made by Pyro' bit. Their 1/32 classics are orderly and their 1/16 scale rods are true jewels. Their 1/8th scale 'curlers' surfer kits get my vote for most psychedelic kits ever made. I love them.
  9. What was the worst car model kit ever would be an interesting thread/poll. My vote goes for a Buick Le Sabre kit that's so bad I even forgot who the manufacturer was.
  10. Don't forget the Morgan Threewheeler.
  11. One thing's for certain: My first model looked different. Excellent work!
  12. Woo, more might have beens... I'm not convinced the Auburn panels are well shaped. The grille/nose seems too wide and overall the model seems to be too 'stubby'. And as soon as I'm done with all the corrections, in twenty years or so, Hasegawa or whoever does one in museum quality. Btw, can you believe they made the BMW 327 just half as big as necessary?
  13. Freudian glitch, I was thinking styrene. I would still be interested in learning what masters actually exist. It was mentioned there were masters for other classic's parts, what would they have been? I mean, one of the most essential things would be a Murphy hood. I can't believe it's a thou to get the first one of these out the door, but I'm willing to learn. I fully agree with you, to do classic stuff on a grand scale is a big risk, given the era's popularity among modellers - or the lack thereof. But one always has to ask the question the other way around too - what are people supposed to buy, if there isn't anything?
  14. Went to your Fotki - your website seems to be down. Just two questions: That Firebird III show car - how much is it and when can I have mine?
  15. I dunno. When I look into that Pyro box, it would border scratchbuilding to make anything resembling a real Auburn out of these pieces. OK, there are modellers out there who have the skills. This would be a prime resin to the rescue subject. If I could get a resin pop of a model made by someone who can do this kind of stuff, I would be in model heaven and my Pyro/Lifelike/Lindberg kit be shot at with a pellet gun.
  16. Hey thanks! Disco style, yes, that's exactly what I wanted. This is how I remember these cars from when I was a kid in the Seventies and this is the look I wanted to achieve. The effect on the bumpers is easy to replicate. Use Revell (or similar) semi gloss black that you diluted with a fair amount of cellulose thinners. I applied it with a brush. For once, the cellulose 'eating' into the plasic is a welcome effect. No worries, I will do a chrome bumper one. But again, it will be in a color I remember them in, not the universal british racing green or Porsche red that's universally used on them nowadays. I remember a sort of brick red and a brown that makes -errr- chocolate? look good. I probably go with the brick red though.
  17. There is a model shop that does mailorder in Shizuoka City. It's called Rainbow Ten (ten means 'sky' in Japanese). I always received first class service from them. They have a stock list on their website, so you really know what they have, a bit like Len Feinberg's online catalog and unlike HLJ, where 99.8% of what I order usually goes on backorder for months on end. You find Rainbow Ten's website here: http://www.rainbowten.co.jp/english/ Just click on ,todays stock list' in the left pane.
  18. As soon as I decided which colour to paint it.
  19. I hope it's not going to be your last. This is a superb build. I like big Japanese Yakuza staff cars.
  20. You're joking! What on earth happened?
  21. Why? What's wrong with that? No, seriously, this is up with the best I've ever seen.
  22. Oh, in case you have too many, I can help you win back some much needed storage room...
  23. Nice colour. How did you do it?
  24. It's finished! Again, I have say this kit is a pleasure to build and has no bad surprises whatsoever. I am very pleased with the result. Hey, if I can do it, it can't be a difficult kit to build!
