So far pretty much all 1/25-24 '57 Chevy kits ever released suck. One way or the other. For some odd reason, the '57 Chevy seems to be tough to capture correctly. There are cars like this, for example the beetle and the 59 Caddy, too. Nobody seems to be able to ever get them right. If you want to model a ragtop, then I assume you mean Bel Air. My bet for a body is on the Revell snapfast plus (Schnaps Fass plus, for our German speaking readers), which is still rubbish, but better than the sorry efforts which preceded it during the past 50 odd years. Whack off the roof, open the bonnet, and use the underpinnings from the 55 convertible you are going to butcher anyway. Oh, and don't forget the sunvisors. Convertibles without sunvisors look stupid. The passenger side one should have a little mirror.

Linberg kit releases
Junkman replied to jphillips1970's topic in Model Building Questions and Answers
I haven't got it physically in front of me yet, but how much would you like to bet that Lindberg did bugger all to the molds? -
I use wood glue. Costs about 3p a ton and does the job beautifully.

Top Gear, the end is nigh?

Something must be wrong with me then. This level of stupidity and wank just fails to entertain me. Maybe that's why I hardly ever watch TV at all. Makes the brain go mushymushy. -
What kind of glue do you use to bond your windscreens?

How much does a year's road tax cost in Sweden for a car like this?

@ garryrenfro If mine will look half as good when I'm finished, I'd be tickled pink. @ charlie8575 As we all know this can change in seconds. @ moparfan426 I use ordinary household bleach from the supermarket. It's called 'thick bleach' over here. The essential thing is to keep it in an absolutely air tight container, like Tupperware or similar, and use it completely undiluted. Once it loses it's 'bite', you must change the whole lot, i.e. completely empty the container and refill it with fresh bleach. @ jeffs396 It crossed my mind. But in the end, I'm too riff raff for such expressionism.

Damage at Russo Steel Auctions
Junkman replied to Jon Cole's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Would you think the same is true for the current owners? If they are as educated as you claim, then it puzzles me even more that they let these cars in a tent overnight when there is inclement weather warning. -
MPC Street Fever Vette

The wheels and sidepipes are about the only changes. The rest is 100% fishy stuff. -
Top Gear, the end is nigh?

I cannot wait until this waste of space show is finally removed from the public domain and replaced with something someone over the age of 5 can watch, too. The three total dimwits presenting it wouldn't get a job in airport security. May I remind you, that they charge us money for broadcasting this rubbish? -
Gosh, this box looks like it was at Russo Steel.

Damage at Russo Steel Auctions

Man, what a loss of cultural heritage. But: I would not leave my car in a tent overnight, in winter, in Arizona. No, I wouldn't. I just wouldn't. Actually, I wouldn't leave my car in a tent overnight anywhere anywhen. I just wouldn't. Nope. -
At least here in Europe you can also link it to your bank account.

I got these yesterday, so I hope it counts. Was at a local swap meet. First, I got the only two 1/24 scale Heller kits I was still missing! It was like finding two long lost children: These will probably not overly excite you, but they aren't that easy to come by on these shores: A few additions to my ever growing 1/20 scale stock. I find 1/20 a very interesting scale: A Fujimi 'Tohge' Mitsubishi Starion Turbo in 1/24 scale: I have this obsession that I will once build one of these ornate Japanese hearses, hence I always pick up something like this when I see it:

general painting question
Junkman replied to jphillips1970's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I just painted two models orange straight from an automotive rattle can without any problems. I have also used platikote tangerine in the past and found it extremely easy to use. What exactly do you use for paint and by which means do you apply it? Which basecoat/preparation do you use? -
I second this. It just doesn't look good to me. But: 10 out of 10 for originality and the workmanship is spot on!

Marketing strategy, my bottom. They all know so darn well what 'the clients' (which is US!!) want, that they go bust every other year. Job well done! They should possible start throwing their money at a think tank. A think tank does basically nothing besides costing an obscene amount of money and in the end coming up with a concept like 'good kits are better than bad kits' or sum such wisdom nobody was able to figure out for himself. Man, what has this world come to?

Rolls Royce hearses used to be very common in England. There are even several Phantom hearses still around. Nowadays people generally find them too 'tacky', hence we only use ours on special request, or for period film work. A lot of old hearses have been rebodied lately though, since they command higher prices in the collectors market this way. Ours is a 1934 25/30. It started life as a Hooper limousine for the Imperial Hotel in Manchester. It was recruited and used as an ambulance during WWII. After being decommissioned, it was bought by the funeral home I am working for and they ordered the coachwork by Alpe and Saunders, who finished it in 1948. It hasn't been restored or even painted since then. This is a three-owner Rolls Royce. The car has probably never travelled more than 100 miles from its home. Even more common than Rolls Royces are these over here: It's a Daimler DS 420 and we use it for 'regular' funerals and transports. Our 'first call car' is a Volvo 760.
