Oops... Guess slamming the brakes after passing a speed camera is too late? I did it. You caught me. 1-0 for you.
-
Yes, you did, and I appreciate it. I will give it a try. What I mean't to say is I haven't learned anything from the tutor yet. And since this thread was hijacked to bring up a topic which would have belonged into a seperate thread, I'd be surprised if I ever will.

International Postage
Junkman replied to AlanNZ's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
No you don't. I'm not one of these greedy crooks who ru(i)n corporations which should be nationalized on the spot, so you owe me nothing at all. -
International Postage

You guys in the US of A are lucky. Your postal service (now how about that for a contradicition in terms?) is still national. Ours was flogged to the Wall Street and City predators years ago. The current CEO of DHL is Frank Appel. Remember, he replaced Zumwinkel who was caught red-handed for tax fraud. Crook. -
International Postage
Junkman replied to AlanNZ's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Oh yes, they must go up. I understand fully. The CEO of DHL only owns the sixth largest yacht in the world. If I was him, I'd be tremendously unhappy too that there are five people out there having a bigger one than I have. We MUST hike the prices to rectify this eclatant social injustice. -
Right. We are four pages into a leather-covered-interiors-tutorial-thread and so far I have learned f00k all about leather covered interiors. If we continue at this pace, maybe my children will eventually find out how it's done?

International Postage
Junkman replied to AlanNZ's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Just don't get me started on international postage. Them bloody robbers, gangsters and highwaymen! For just a wee few model kits to send to bloody Belgium, I spent 20 quid the other day! 20 quid! I measured the box. I can accomodate 300 boxes that size in me Sherpa van. 300 x 20 = 6 Thousand quid! If I load my bloody Sherpa van full with boxes for 20 quid a toss, I pocket 6 Grand just driving over to Belgium! Then I load it up there with 300 boxes at 20 quid a toss and haul them back to Blighty. Another 6 Grand. That's 12 bloody Grand per trip and they keep telling me it's due to the Diesel price???? Them can tell this to someone who uses an excavator to pull up his pants. -
Gone, but not forgotten. Literally. It is a cornerstone of civilisation to mourn the dead. As sad as it is, we'll all see each other again in the eternal drive-in where the bar is never closed. Until then, let's keep modelling.

SOS... I Need Some Information!
Junkman replied to 1967mustang's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
You don't have to go this far. Ordering a Mopar in those days was an experience not for the faint hearted. To say Chrysler Corp was run by eccentrics is a gross understatement. I'm mad enough to say that I actually appreciated it. The more sober minded just turned around and ran like f00k. Them were the days. What came after? In 1987 I tried, actually attempted, to buy a Plodge Granfifthlomat with a 318 and whitewalls in black with a burgundy interior. The car was sitting right there in the showroom of a Chrysler dealership. The dealer himself looked at me like I was a total lunatic trying to deprive him of the best horse in his stable. I went over to Cable-Dahmer Chevrolet and bought a brand new IROC-Z in electric blue metallic with the 350 TPI for LESS! -
I use the old discarded sheets from my polishing kit.

What exactly is the 'old Testors glue'? Is this some kind of plastic cement?

1/20 Scale Reissues Announced By Aoshima!
Junkman replied to Junkman's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
You are correct, this generation hasn't been out in a while. The last I have seen of them was the 1/20 ex-LS issued by Arii. Arii seems to have quite a number of the LS tools. If you want to see something reissued, drop them a line. The Japanese do have the weird habit to listen to their clients and when they get many requests for a particular model, they issue what they call a 'spot' production. -
SOS... I Need Some Information!
Junkman replied to 1967mustang's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
What was the average number of people it took to complete one? Even Chrysler Corp didn't know. They didn't even bother to use cash flow control systems in these days, which became painfully evident later that decade. -
does this look right to you
Junkman replied to Nick Winter's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
It sits about 150 scale mm too high. -
Hmmm... The thinnest leather I can get is .040 - .045 (1 - 1.1 mm). What now?

1/20 Scale Reissues Announced By Aoshima!
Junkman replied to Junkman's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
There is a beautiful Celica XX in 1/24 out by Aoshima currently. Could well be the old LS tool. You could say that, yes. -
Ok, ok, I may be the only person in the world getting excited about this: http://www.aoshima-bk.co.jp/scripts/eng/new-eng.aspx These are repops of the old LS kits, I'm convinced. The Suzuki Alto and Cervo had been reissued last year. It looks like the 1/20 LS molds are all over Shizuoka City. The Kei Cars are with Aoshima Bunka, the large cars with Arii. The Nissan Leopard has not been reissued, so it looks like this mold is lost.

Not having own experience with the Revell Viper, I understand from others that it is a very challenging kit to build. May I suggest to start with an easier project just for exercise?

Beyond the Twilight Zone
Junkman replied to bigdaddyfan's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Nope. I refer to Ebay as I pay, because they get my money no matter what I do. I always list my stuff for a penny starting bid with no reserve. I let the bidders decide what my stuff is worth. And trust me, it's not 7.5k for a Tamiya Lola. -
Definitely yessir! I would like to use this for my Hubley/Gabriel metal models. So please, count me in.

Quite some innovative stuff in this Nomad. Brilliant solution when it has smashed roof posts, as usual. That guy with his brass sprint cars gets my Augie Hiscano memorial award.
