  1. I think you are still mixing something up. The Flipnose is an old MPC kit, which is now sold under the AMT brand. The only thing it has in common with the 'real' AMT 53 Ford is the fact that it is a 53 Ford too. This is the only thing they have in common. They are otherwise neiter related, nor in-laws. Now, apart from the colour it is molded in, the decals and the box art, the Flipnose has never changed. It never shod any parts, or picked any up. The AMT one did the same until at least the Cruising USA issue. For later releases, you will need to ask the younger modellers out there, since this is the latest release I ever owned.
  2. See, Treehugger Dave obviously does.
  3. Yes, this simulating stitching or seams or piping is what I would like to learn.
  4. Hence my expectation was that after the 'teaser' pics and some initial generic explanation of the principles, the in depth step by step tutorial would commence. Alas, this was imho suddenly interrupted.
  5. This whole HellaFlush (where does this term stem from?) movement is so nicely ridiculous that I MUST make one too! Great job on your Evo, honest.
  6. See, that's exactly why I wanted to learn how to apply real leather. For my 1/24-5 models, I always use Revell semi gloss paint and apply it with a paint brush of all things. I am very satisfied with the authentic look this generates. But - you guessed it - there is a but. These old Hubley/Gabriel metal kits are far from realistic to begin with. I love them just for that. I call it 'character', a bit like an old Tonka toy or a Märklin locomotive has. A real leather interior would admittedly not look as realistic as paint, but oh would it nicely ooze character in a Hubley, ay? Add to this the complete absence of door panels, which I thought I might have learned how to make in this thread. See where I'm coming from?
  7. No leather. No tutorial. No interior.
  8. I guess I'll paint the seats of my Hubley Duesenberg semi gloss then?
  9. Oops... Guess slamming the brakes after passing a speed camera is too late? I did it. You caught me. 1-0 for you.
  10. Yes, you did, and I appreciate it. I will give it a try. What I mean't to say is I haven't learned anything from the tutor yet. And since this thread was hijacked to bring up a topic which would have belonged into a seperate thread, I'd be surprised if I ever will.
  11. No you don't. I'm not one of these greedy crooks who ru(i)n corporations which should be nationalized on the spot, so you owe me nothing at all.
  12. You guys in the US of A are lucky. Your postal service (now how about that for a contradicition in terms?) is still national. Ours was flogged to the Wall Street and City predators years ago. The current CEO of DHL is Frank Appel. Remember, he replaced Zumwinkel who was caught red-handed for tax fraud. Crook.
  13. Oh yes, they must go up. I understand fully. The CEO of DHL only owns the sixth largest yacht in the world. If I was him, I'd be tremendously unhappy too that there are five people out there having a bigger one than I have. We MUST hike the prices to rectify this eclatant social injustice.
  14. Right. We are four pages into a leather-covered-interiors-tutorial-thread and so far I have learned f00k all about leather covered interiors. If we continue at this pace, maybe my children will eventually find out how it's done?
  15. Just don't get me started on international postage. Them bloody robbers, gangsters and highwaymen! For just a wee few model kits to send to bloody Belgium, I spent 20 quid the other day! 20 quid! I measured the box. I can accomodate 300 boxes that size in me Sherpa van. 300 x 20 = 6 Thousand quid! If I load my bloody Sherpa van full with boxes for 20 quid a toss, I pocket 6 Grand just driving over to Belgium! Then I load it up there with 300 boxes at 20 quid a toss and haul them back to Blighty. Another 6 Grand. That's 12 bloody Grand per trip and they keep telling me it's due to the Diesel price???? Them can tell this to someone who uses an excavator to pull up his pants.
  16. Juha Airio once told me, he is just gluing the seams with evergreen strips, then paints the roof with Humbrol flat mixed with what he calls 'Washbenzene'. And man, does he set the benchmark high.
  17. Gone, but not forgotten. Literally. It is a cornerstone of civilisation to mourn the dead. As sad as it is, we'll all see each other again in the eternal drive-in where the bar is never closed. Until then, let's keep modelling.
  18. You don't have to go this far. Ordering a Mopar in those days was an experience not for the faint hearted. To say Chrysler Corp was run by eccentrics is a gross understatement. I'm mad enough to say that I actually appreciated it. The more sober minded just turned around and ran like f00k. Them were the days. What came after? In 1987 I tried, actually attempted, to buy a Plodge Granfifthlomat with a 318 and whitewalls in black with a burgundy interior. The car was sitting right there in the showroom of a Chrysler dealership. The dealer himself looked at me like I was a total lunatic trying to deprive him of the best horse in his stable. I went over to Cable-Dahmer Chevrolet and bought a brand new IROC-Z in electric blue metallic with the 350 TPI for LESS!
  19. I use the old discarded sheets from my polishing kit.
  20. What exactly is the 'old Testors glue'? Is this some kind of plastic cement?
  21. You are correct, this generation hasn't been out in a while. The last I have seen of them was the 1/20 ex-LS issued by Arii. Arii seems to have quite a number of the LS tools. If you want to see something reissued, drop them a line. The Japanese do have the weird habit to listen to their clients and when they get many requests for a particular model, they issue what they call a 'spot' production.
  22. What was the average number of people it took to complete one? Even Chrysler Corp didn't know. They didn't even bother to use cash flow control systems in these days, which became painfully evident later that decade.
  23. It sits about 150 scale mm too high.
  24. Hmmm... The thinnest leather I can get is .040 - .045 (1 - 1.1 mm). What now?
  25. There is a beautiful Celica XX in 1/24 out by Aoshima currently. Could well be the old LS tool. You could say that, yes.
