  1. Thanks Teutates I have a lot of these Compacts, many of them even in 'builder' flavour. I'm a bit short of early Comets, though. Should any of these moulds still exist, the usual suspects would be well advised to dust them off. 1st generation Corvair and Falcon were last seen in the Jr. Trophy or Craftsman Series, if I'm not mistaken. THIS IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH!
  2. Are the Alphonse and Jaqueline figures included?
  3. Please, please, please do a review of the DS.
  4. Chrysler products were the only US cars officially imported into the UK. They left the market shortly after the merger with Fiat, though.
  5. Go right ahead. It was prepared for the annual Renault 4L Trophy - a rally in which only Renault 4s can participate. The rally starts in Paris and ends in Marrakech, Morocco. Each team is required to carry ~50kg of school equipment and all the money they got from their 'sponsors'. Since over 1,000 teams participate each year, typically the event yields over 50 tons of school and sports equipment and in excess of 30,000 Euros, to be distributed in the poorer regions of Morocco, to help children there to get a proper school education. Whatever money is raised by these private entries, is matched by the French financial consulting firm Deloitte on top. That little R4 van is festooned with stickers of his 'sponsors', like most of the participants' cars. Under French law, the 'sponsors' can deduct their contributions from the tax. This is one of the best citizens help citizens events I know of.
  6. To end a hiatus that lasted for over a decade, I decided to start with something simple. This is going to be pretty much an out of the box build, fairly stock, Silver Blue poly with blue interior. It's one of the builders that make up a large proportion of my collection. I got it decades ago and it was already primered. There were some imperfections that needed to be addressed: Also, a nasty tyre mark had formed on the roof which I hope I managed to sand away. The next coat of primer will show.
  7. Look again and let me know when was the last time you saw any of them. And when did you ever see a MK1 Twingo in the UK?
  8. All of the following I spotted while holidaying in France.
  9. Thank you! It was built from the Airfix issue of the Aoshima kit. I think I'm the only one ever who built the rubber bumper version despite the chrome bumper version is included. Also note, that I gave it the correct rubber bumper version stance. Yes, they jacked them up to meet federal bumper height regulations.
  10. Wahey, it works! Thank you so much!
  11. Could you please share? Because I seem to be too daft. I try by using the "insert other media" button -> "Insert image from URL" -> paste the URL -> click on "Insert into post". What happens then is that I get that squirly thingy going round and round and nothing else ever happens. It's not even timing out after a while and with 'a while' I mean an hour or so.
  12. I'm gonna paint mine pink and put Hello Kitty decals on it.
  13. I guess the most interesting example would be Chassis # CSX2287 (the original). It is the only one that was entirely built at the Shelby workshops in Venice. It has an extensive race pedigree having run at Daytona, Sebring, Reims, Spa Francorchamps, Oulton Park TT, Le Mans and the Tour de France. It was driven by Chris Amon, Dave MacDonald, Bob Holbert, Jo Schlesser, Phil Hill, Jochen Neerpasch, Innes Ireland, André Simon, Maurice Dupeyron, Bob Johnson and Tom Payne. Then it was taken to Bonneville and set 25 USAC/FIA world records in November 1965, driven by Craig Breedlove, Bobby Tatroe and Tom Greatorex. Then it was sold to music producer Phil Spector, who occasionally used it on L.A. roads. By the mid-70s the car had disappeared and was presumed lost. After 30 odd years, it was re-discovered in a storage unit in California, after its then current owner had committed suicide. It is the only unrestored example of the lot. Is that the one to model, or what?
  14. We will never hear the end of it... It will be interesting to compare the cars in their current state when they are at Goodwood.
  15. Here is a photo from the 1964 Le Mans: Even in this blurry shot you can notice all kinds of differences between the two cars. They also have the FIA wheelarches, which other examples lacked.
  16. Each car is unique and the differences aren't even subtle in some cases. Also, being raced, each car went through the usual metamorphose of changes/improvements/repairs/bodging up/adapting to rules from one event to another. They were far from mint in the end, some were downright battered. Your best option is to select a specific chassis # and specific event and try to replicate that.
  17. Now there is a difference between James Garner, everybody else, and me.
  18. Does the MPC body at least fit the AMT chassis? I mean, it didn't fit the MPC chassis, so the chances are good.
  19. Yeah, but it can't be done. Because someone said so. If you'd be "inside", you'd understand, you know.
  20. We need a newly tooled kit of this thing.
  21. Nothing. But it's common practice to release what already exists. If you were "inside", you would understand.
  22. Kids wouldn't buy '60 El Camino kits. Let's do a '69 Charger instead.
  23. Kids wouldn't buy Tucker kits. Let's do a '69 Charger instead.
