I often wonder why the aftermarket industry ignores 1/18 completely. The Yatming '59 Chevy is a good example, so are many other offerings from this and many other manufacturers. They are basically sound, but would benefit immensely from a little help in form of a PE kit. A bit off post is another blatantly obvious shortfall in 1/18 scale - the non-availability of aftermarket wheelsets. If you want to change the wheels of a diecast, you often end up having to buy an entire donor model. When I decided to mildly customize my Yatming '57 Olds, I was looking for a set of Cragar SSes. I only found them in from of a complete Ertl Red Alert Chevelle, but in the end I didn't have the heart to mess with it.

I'm going by car, so it really wouldn't matter.

Let me know which ones you want. I'm going on holidays in France in less than a month and I can get you anything.

I did it. Didn't I?

These are the ones reissued earlier this year:

The recently reissued Godier Genoud Kawa, Honda 750 and Laverda are going to be complemented by a BMW R60/5 in Flic spec: These will go along nicely with the Honda reissues MPC announced. Hopefully Revell will see this...

6 hours of quali, and the pole time was set 10 mins in! Shame to lose 1 of the 'vettes though. Was a big hit. Those acute-angled impacts always look relatively harmless, in reality, you suddenly have no air left in your lungs. The usual guess how I know etc etc applies... Interestingly, those slow girl-wheel-drive Datsunsrubbishes sound really sweet.

It's already this time of the year. Preliminary entry list is here: http://www.24h-lemans.com/wpphpFichiers/1/1/ressources/Pdf/2015/24-heures-du-mans/entry-list-24-heures-du-mans-2015.pdf Looks like Porsche is back with three LMP1s. Those new Datsuns look like right old rubbish to me: This year's event will also mark the 60th anniversary of the worst accident in motorsport history. Let's hope the death toll will be smaller this time.

Funnily enough, a few petrolheads and I recently had the following discussion after a few G&Ts: Imagine you are in small town America in 1957 and you are in the market for one of the low priced three. What would you buy? The 1957 Chevy, Ford, or Plymouth? My answer was the 1937 Packard V12 Roadster and a holiday in California for the change, of course. But honestly, it would be the Fairlane 500 for me. Always liked it. And that AMT kit is bloody ace.

RIP Carlsson på taket!
Junkman replied to Junkman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I don't know about that story, but Carlsson regularly rolled his Saabs after rallys for celebration, like others do donuts. Usually, he then drove the car home to Sweden. -
RIP Carlsson på taket!
Junkman replied to Junkman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
That's why he was called Carlsson på taket - Carlsson on the roof. Coincidentally this is also a pun. Karlsson-on-the-Roof (Swedish: Karlsson på taket) is a popular fictional character who lives on the roof of an apartment building in a series of children's books created by Swedish author Astrid Lindgren. -
I'm sad to learn that today Swedish rally legend and Saab test driver Erik Carlsson died. He was 86. In 2010, Mr Carlsson was among the first four inductees into the Rally Hall of Fame, along with Rauno Aaltonen, Paddy Hopkirk and Timo Mäkinen.

Until 1973 in the Simca Marmon. Simca had taken over Ford France as early as 1951, but the flatheads soldiered on. They also used the 2.3 litre V8 "60" until 1963 in their Vedette/Ariane passenger cars, making them the last mass-produced French cars with a V8. The Vedette was then built (complete with flathead) in Brazil as the Simca Esplanada until the Chrysler takeover in 1969.

I'm not going to shorten a bloody thing. Now where is my kit? Or better, two of them? -
Why do some know what Round2 will reissue and others not?

One for the fans of big Citroens
Junkman replied to Earl Marischal's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Meilenwerk in Berlin has a Tissier DS19 as well. They are seriously racking up the miles with it, too, using it to transport classics to shows all over Europe. -
