Tamiya 1/24 Nissan 240Z (street custom?)
Kenmojr replied to Bennyg's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
I think there was a Paul Newman version as well as he raced in the IMSA or SCCA circuit in the 1970s and 80s. -
Oops - mind fart of a 70 year old man... I meant to post I purchased my 1960 Corvette in 1983. I edited my prior post to reflect what my mind was shouting and not what my fingers typed... Sorry about that....

Tamiya 1/24 Nissan 240Z (street custom?)
Kenmojr replied to Bennyg's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
In the 1980s I built a 1/25 or 1/24 kit of Pete Brock's 240Z road racer. Can't recall if it was Monogram, AMT, MPC, or.... -
I did own the Revell (or was it Monogram) kit of a McLaren Mustang along with a 1/16 AMT 55 Chevy convertible and 1/24 1970s Toyota Celica which I later gave away to the son of a friend. Now I wish I would have kept all those kits. They were unassembled and most of my time was spent working of the Vette (it was a previous drag race car) or playing hockey. This was in the 1980s.

The only new car I purchased was a 1980 Ford Mustang Cobra with TRX suspension and 2.3 turbo engine, 5 speed manual tranny. I sold the Mustang in 1983 when I purchased my 1960 Corvette in 83 (which I still own). At the time I owned a 1980 Mustang, 60 Corvette and 74 Toyota Celica. And one of them had to go. So I kept the Celica as a winter beater. After I sold the Mustang, I wished I would have kept it as my brother had two Toyota Landcruisers and offered to sell me one. Landcruiser was the perfect beast for a snowy Nova Scotia winter - get me to work and to the rink to play hockey...

I recall over 10 years ago, a regular member of the Corvette Forum posted a photo of a C2 Vette with a flathead engine. Photo was not the members car but one at a car show he attended. Here is a recent post on the Corvette Forum of a C3 Vette powered by a flathead... https://www.corvetteforum.com/forums/c3-general/4781848-not-just-another-ford-in-a-chevy.html Since I am a member of the Corvette Forum the photos and thread displays fine. So in case some of you have issues seeing the photos of this Flatty powered C3, I snagged the photos from the site and uploaded here. These are NOT my photos or thread.

Wow, this is killer...Looks so real... -
One fine looking Mopar. Love these old Chrysler 300s.
-
Love the color and the stance. One super cool C2 Vette...

Excellent! Love the look of this hot rod. Have you been "screeched in" on the Rock (Newfoundland) yet?..:-)
-
Looks awesome... I believe I heard this is hooding fitting issues with this model. You hood fits quite well.

What a great nostalgia hot rod look to this...

Love Delahayes. The only model of a Delahaye I have is a 1/18 diecast. Googling for Delayhaye model kits lead me to this thread....

I still have some old bottles of Pactra and cans of Humbrol paint that has not dried up. They were purchased in the 1970s when I was a youth. I opened them up a couple of years ( 2 or 3 years ago) to see if they were dried up. Most were not. A few got tossed away due to being dried solid. Probably due to me in the 1970s not tightly sealing the lid covers and tops.

I think your model would be of interest to the members of the Corvette Forum https://www.corvetteforum.com/

Outstanding....

Bench squirrels? Sorry not acquainted with that term. Cheers...

What a cool idea. As an owner of a C1 since 1983, I'm very interested in this thread. I am also keen to find out if he uses the C1's suspension (king pins in front and solid axle in rear) over the more modern C2s (ball joints in front and IRS in rear)? One thing that is a pain with 1953 to 1962 Vettes, is greasing the front end every 5,000 miles as required by the maintenance manual. There are 18 grease fittings on the front end. I greased mine earlier this summer. What a messy job. Thank God my grease gun is air driven. Someday, I would like to purchase one of those Mustang II bolt in front suspensions. Sadly Corvette Central no longer carries the Jim Meyer kit for C1s. I believe Jim Meyer went out of business.
