Fat Brian is right. When you click on an image, it casts your vote. I was hoping to change it, but it seems that it simply is that way by design. -

The 2022 CBR YOB Voting Poll is now up until December 16th. So make sure to vote for your favorite build! Topic link: 2022 Cannonball Run YOB Topic Page -
Welcome Cannonballers! We've reached the Portofino Inn and it's now time to decide who wins this year's Cannonball Year of Birth! 1. 2022 Completed Builds Review this year's completed builds. Then... 2. Vote Here Select your favorite build I've attempted to block multiple votes, however, I'm not sure that it has worked. Therefore, please limit your votes to only one per person. The poll will be open now through December 16th which should give everyone enough time to vote.

Hello fellow Cannonballers! The time has come to vote on next year's Cannonball Run theme. We began with twenty three excellent theme suggestions. Based on everyone's top three lists, the themes have been narrowed to seven. Below is a link to the voting poll. This is my first attempt at polling, so I appreciate your patience. Hopefully, all goes smoothly. The poll is set-up to allow one vote per person (based on their email/login). However, we'll also use the honor system. The poll should be open from midnight December 2nd to midnight December 5th. This should give everyone plenty of time to vote. Any suggestions and opinions are always welcome. https://take.supersurvey.com/QK8BAWN5F

2023 Cannonball Run Build Theme Suggestions

Top three for me would be: 1. Mid-engine 2. Run-what-you-brung 3. Wagons Thus far, based on everyone's top-three lists, we've eliminated eleven themes; leaving twelve. As for the survey, if the themes that have been chosen only once (as per the lists) are eliminated, then the choices drop to seven. The survey, therefore, would be based on those seven. Those seven are, in no particular order: Run-what-you-brung, moonshine, mid-engine, pro-street, phantomball, pick-up trucks and wagons. Though, this list may be added to depending on posts made between today and tomorrow. I'm working on setting up the survey through last year's site of Supersurvey. I was thinking to have the survey begin December 2nd (as the 2022 CBR ends on the 1st) and run through December 5th. That allows for four days of voting. To prevent multiple votes, an email will be required. Though, I'm not sure how everyone feels about this. Otherwise, we could simply have the survey on the honor-system. In the event of a tie, a run-off survey would be run. Let me know what you all think as this is the first time I'm doing this and any input would be appreciated. -

Good idea. Perhaps, we can post our lists until the end of the month, November 30th. At that point, a poll can be issued and voting can begin. -

LL3 is correct. The theme's only requirement is that the vehicle be mid-engined. How the vehicle becomes mid-engined is up to the builder. This leaves a large scope of possibilities for the builder: everything from a box-stock build of a pre-existing mid-engined vehicle (Lamborghini, Ferrari, Toyota MR2, Lotus, etc.), to full custom builds where the engine is relocated from its original position to a mid-ship layout. -

1980 Porsche 911 Targa Carrera Outlaw After a four-month build, I’m pleased to add my 911 to the completed Cannonball builds. The goal of the car was to make an outlaw 911 that retained the refinement of a Porsche, but still held some “grit” of a purpose-built Cannonball entrant. Initially, the idea was a simple straight from the box build with modified colors. But, as the build progressed, I wanted to make a full outlaw. So, the body was simplified with the removal of bumper trim and rear bumperettes. The body itself received a non-factory muted green color (Tamiya grey-green) with metallic grey and matte black trim and accents. The interior received a two-tone black and tan color scheme to compliment the exterior. Seat belts were added with 3D-printed seat belt guides and anchors securing them. The floor was flocked with embossing powder and painted. The engine is where the greatest modifications took place. The exhaust and ITBs were designed in Fusion360 (as were all 3D-printed parts) and printed. The exhaust itself is tubular and removes the heater core for greater performance. The intake is composed of six individual throttle bodies with fuel injection. Furthermore, an oil cooler was placed in the front bumper and fully plumbed into the engine. Additionally, clutch linkage was added underneath. Printed oil tank, oil thermostat and clutch linkage were made. Ignition wires, throttle linkage, fuel lines and oil lines complete the engine. Finally, the wheels were modeled on the classic Campognolo wheels and printed to fit the kit tires. The wheels were painted matte black to balance the color scheme and help anchor the lighter body color. Specifications: Kit: Revell Porsche 911 Targa 3.2 Carrera Targa Exterior Paint: Tamiya Grey-Green, metallic grey and matte black Aftermarket: various wires and photo-etch from Detail Master and Gofer racing, Evergreen and Plastruct plastic stock, BMF decal paper 3D Print: wheels and valve stems, oil tank and thermostat, clutch linkage, ITBs and linkage, fuel filter, full exhaust, ignition coil, fuel filter, seatbelt guides and anchors Body modifications: smoothed bumpers, front bumper grille opening for front-mount oil cooler (scratch-built), stock exhaust tip location filled. The 2022 Cannonball Run Year of Birth Build Thread

Hello fellow Cannonballers! As this year's race nears its conclusion, this would seem to be a good time to begin suggesting possible Cannonball themes for the 2023 running. To get us started, below are my suggestions (note: all vehicles should be street legal): Phantomball run: build a vehicle from a manufacturer that might have been, but never was. Essentially, something that could have been a possible purchasable vehicle, but was never made. Perhaps it was a concept that didn't make it to production or a "what-if" type of build. Mid-Engine Mania: as the name implies, all mid-engined vehicles are eligible. This includes front-mid-engine and rear-mid-engine layouts; that is, the bulk of the engine should be either behind the front axle line or in front of the rear axle line. This idea is not limited solely to existing mid-engined vehicles. Any vehicle is eligible so long as the final mounting of the engine is midships; regardless of where the engine was originally located. Luxury Challenge: VIP from coast-to-coast. All luxury vehicles are welcome. This one is all about speed, power, and comfort. I look forward to everyone's suggestions!

The 2022 Cannonball Run Year of Birth Build Thread

I'm not sure if a different topic should be started, but I would like to add my suggestions for the 2023 Cannonball: Phantomball Run: build a street legal vehicle that might have been but never was. Luxury Car Challenge: coast-to-coast in full comfort. Any type and any year so long as they are street legal and considered luxury vehicles. Trivia: It was 50 years ago this year (2022) that a drive-away Cadillac Coupe de Ville won the Cannonball. -
Being an IMSA fan, and having seen the actual C7R race, I was excited to build the model of the car. The model below represents the winner of the 2015 Le Mans. The body and aerodynamics in the kit represent the 2015 entrant, but the decals that are supplied in the kit are actually for the 2016 Daytona 24. To remedy this, a set of Indycals decals were used to fit with the correct year of car. The model itself is a good foundation for detail. However, as many know, there is (at least for some kits) fitment issues with the body to chassis that occurs mostly with the dash interfering with the windscreen. Considerable sanding and shaping of the dash were required for the body to sit properly over the wheels. Beyond the fitment issues, I sought to bring greater detail to the kit; therefore, all air intakes and vents were opened. The front grille received metal mesh and driving lights were added behind clear covers. The front fender vents were opened and louvers built in. The engine received much attention as the kit engine is nicely detailed, but many ancillary details are missing; most notably, complete cooling pipes. So the pipes were added as well as other wiring and plumbing. A steering rack was also scratch built. The interior received scratch built control boxes, air hose, and rearview screen. Again, wiring and plumbing were added. Finally, the color is Tamiya Chrome Yellow under Tamiya clear. Thank you for looking!

Thank you! The Tamiya color seems to be very close to the actual Viking Blue.

Hello Adam, Thank you for the compliments! The seat belts are from Detail Master: DM-2260 Racing Harness-Lever Type. I purchased them from Hobbylinc.
