BMW Mini Cooper Headlights
Mike Chernecki replied to Mike Chernecki's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Thanks Rob, I have used MV lenses many times in the past, awesome stuff. But I wasn't too clear in my post,I have corrected my original post. I was looking for BMW Mini Cooper headlight assemblies. Thanks -
Lately I have seen BMW Mini Cooper headlights used on alot of street rods. Does anyone know if a resin caster is doing a set of these? I am assumming the only mini kits out there are high priced Fujimi kits. Not something I would consider spending to steal the headlights from. Thanks

Making Door & Hood Hinges
Mike Chernecki replied to Fullauto-1966's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Thanks Ed, I will keep this in mind. The MCG hinges are nice, but like you said they only come in one size. Do you know which issue had the article on making hinges? I just found some older issues at a local hobby shop, maybe they have that one in particular. -

Making Door & Hood Hinges
Mike Chernecki replied to Fullauto-1966's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
Thanks randx0, I do have the MCG hinges from the Anglia detail set. Not quite what I was looking for since the are one size only and more for verticles straight doors. I also what to hinge a sedan delivery rear door which has a longer bottom hinge because of the lower curve. -
Making Door & Hood Hinges
Mike Chernecki replied to Fullauto-1966's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
I am looking for suggestions on making a working stock style door hinge for Revell's 32 Ford. Any pictures showing a nice working example? Is there a photo-etched version available somewhere? Thanks -
1932 Ford Sedan Delivery
Mike Chernecki replied to Mike Chernecki's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks Art, Very much appreciated. -
I just picked up Revell's '32 Ford Sedan. I would like to do it as a sedan delivery. Aside from the obvious differences (paneled rear side window, rear door and cargo floor), is there any other notable differences. Are the bodies the same size or is the delvery longer? Taller? Etc Thanks

Chevy BowTie Valve Covers

Thanks for the information. I have never bought a Nascar kit, maybe that is why I never found these. I will look for the kits mentioned. Thanks -
Chevy BowTie Valve Covers
Mike Chernecki posted a topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Does anyone know if the cast aluminum BowTie valve covers were ever released in a kit, if so which one ? Or are they available from a resin caster? For both small and big block chevy. These here -
I can see this being a big seller like the '69 Camaro kit and the multiple version that can be future releases. The way the included the tailpanel trim with the tailights, they can easily tool up a second set of front and rear bumper/grill/taillights and do a '70-72 or do a new dash and interior for a '68. I have bought about 20 of the Camaro kits and will definitely buy as many or more Nova kits. I just hope Revell produces more than a handful. Not like the Merc, I would buy more, but in a year I have seen only one Merc and bought that one.

Those closeup pictures look great. The proportions look dead on, except for that tab sticking out at the bottom of the front fender (must be needed to properly seat the grille. Still waiting for these to come up to Canada, can't wait. Currenly own 5 Novas and had 5 others in the past, my number 1 favorite car.

Model Car Garage
Mike Chernecki replied to Mike Chernecki's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Thanks for the information. Good to here all is good with MCG. I sent an email a while back, but had no response. -
Is Model Car Garage still actively in business or are they just selling whatever inventory still exists. The website is years out of date, some detail sets have disappeared from lists. I havn't seen anything new for a very long time, I remember being able to order a detail set for a new release as soon as the kit was released. I havn't seen anything but a few very generic parts available at the lhs. Does anyone know what's up?

having one off decals made
Mike Chernecki replied to fanofratfink's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Try Sparetime Hobbies at www.sparetimehobbies.com He has details on the website about custom decals. I have been in the store, he has an alps prnter setup and had some nice samples printed. I have also had Keith Marks do some custom work. -
Duplicolor Paintshop Lacquers
Mike Chernecki replied to Mike Chernecki's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I picked up a can of the primer. I was impressed, I shot some primer of the roof of the Revell 55 Chevy with no problems with it etching the plastic. It is very light grey, nice for the light colors. Thanks for the input. -
New upholstery for my El Camino
Mike Chernecki replied to Modellpularn's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Nice El Camino! Are you going to fill the mounting holes left by the Monte Carlo wood grain dash insert? -
Time to buy more primer, bought my last can 10 years ago. Which Dupont primer should I buy? What do you use? They no longer sell the lacquer primer I had before.

I have a couple projects that I want to do lace painted panels. Does anyone know where I can get lace that would be in scale?

I think the '68 Camaro is a great kit. I am currently working on one. It is fine to mold in the front and read valance panels prior to paint. I cut out the firewall and inner fenders from the body and using the firewall and chassis from Revell '69 Camaro. I have also ordered the SS hood, RS grill package from Reliable Resin. This kit has tons of potential.

I found one of these Route 66 Super Bee's on eBay. It came in the mail this week. The seats and wheels look great. Thanks for the help.
