Wish round 2 would release some obscure stuff
jeffp60 replied to jeffp60's topic in Truck Kit News & Reviews
Even if round2 could make bodies / parts to fit other kits, scout 800 to bronco or scout 2, but I think average person, (me), can't pay $60+ for a scout body and hope I can make it work. I know it's a lot of time/effort/money to 3d but $20s is more like my price. I KNOW, but is a Maserati worth the $$,yes. THATS why I own a chevrolet!! -
A girl in high school had the same color

I know how you feel. Bronco was perfect.paint job went great.best model I ever built. Every one since has been a nightmare. Some mine(not paying attention mostly or too soon),but man,the fit, instructions or just glue that won't stick... son bought me the amt 69 gtx and I hope it goes like the bronco or I'm done .

1977 GMC with plow
jeffp60 replied to jeffp60's topic in WIP: Model Trucks: Pickups, Vans, SUVs, Light Commercial
Thanks, didn't want to do too much ,but doesn't take long in buffalo. -
Just be aware that Propellants used in paint spray cans usually are di-methyl ether or a mixture of propane and butane

Picked up some Topnotch matte paints. Got cover coat done. Looking for procedural process. 1st coat, clear, 2nd coat clear, etc ?? Toothpaste sand as needed between each ? Different for "show car" vs everyday vehicle (high shine vs not waxed car) and why alternate coats ? I've airbrushed h o scenery but, never a model.

I'm thinking those born in 50s,60s would want to build what they drove and could afford to buy. -
Thanks Chad, if I ever do this again I'll check out your suggestions

TITLE:How do you dull chrome QUESTION: Any idea how to take the "sheen" off of the chrome ? pretty specific, my reason is irrelevant. And yes you did answer my question. My annoyance was with the others comments, on Amazon its people writing "I have no idea ,never bought this"... KWT just responded with "flat clear" and posted his 78 gmc rust bucket. Little more than I plan though.
-
Never saw flat clear. Does it lower mirror finish at all ? Funny thing with it is : a plow(very good) ,cb radio, whip antenna, winch,(all chrome),gas can, 2 pair valve covers and all suspension parts/torsion bars. Inner doors are blank, only upper rad hose. Fit/flash is good.
-
78 gmc. Dull the chrome. Simple question. Haven't decided on body paint yet,but probably going to be too good for age and condition of plow and underside. Disappointed in the kit for a revell .only detail in bucket is a dash and bench seat. Door panels are blank.

We build models, I'm not building a show car. I'm building a 50 yr old p/u with a plow. Really shiny with rust spots would look absurd, hence the "dull " look. I just took steelwool to it and rusted it .

I know it's not personal, they don't know me. I'm talking about "how do you ...." and instead of "try this" or "do this" ,I get "I don't get it", "makes no sense" and pics of "never been polished".

AMT 1968 GTO with aftermarket open headlight grille.
jeffp60 replied to RandyB.'s topic in Model Cars
Nice job ! My 69 convertible had the open grill . -
Impala is what I am looking for. Not a "mirror" finish. Annoys me when I ask a question and I get a bunch that just has opine about my choice but can't answer my question. I post my builds for honest critiques, I post questions for answers. Thank you Steve H for the answer and photos

Damn ! That is some nice detail . Interior was fantastic, then I saw the engine compartment!! AWSOME !

My chrome never looked shiny unless I polished it. Kinda why they sell CHROME POLISH .

Just looking for not so shiny toy look
