  1. Well I have 4 I'm not sure about building, 1/ Revell Ford Country Squire.... I love the box and the idea of wagon kits, but Modelhaus make a 1 piece bodied version 2/ monogram Rommel's Rod....Memories, the first hot rod kit I ever bought also my transition kit from military modeling to cars 3/ Monogram Sizzler(original)....Bought this because someone said it was worth a bit $$$ still, a nice drag kit from the 60s 4/ MPC Dodge Monarco on a funny turntable. bought this because it was cheap, £5 in UK I love to build any kit but I have been told these might help me out if I'm short of cash
  2. I have just picked up an old little pages Rod & Custom magazine from April 1957, there is a full 5 page feature on a contest hosted by R&C. Was this the 1st national model show? most of the kits seem to be Revell Mercury's, Cadillacs and other 1/32 kits. 1,135 models were entered, the most popular kit being Revells 56 Ford pick up. Looking at the photo's this looks to be the small scale 1/48? kit The winning entry was by Jim Savage with a model of a 56 Ford , customised with other parts from Revell's Mercury and Cadillac. If anyone wants me to, I could scan the magazine but the pictures are very small. Thanks, John
  3. Hey, whats this slagging off my beloved country's sports cars, Didn't you know Joe Lucas is revered as the Prince of Darkness to us motorcyclists! By the way I ride a BSA A65 that doesn't leak a drop, unlike my friends Royal Oilfield, sorry Enfield. Thanks,John
  4. Steef, did you ever get the headliner finished? Thanks, John
  5. Harry, this is a fantastic build. I'm just gathering information and will somehow log your pics for later if thats ok. As well as Steef's feature on seam filling the body onthe other thread, all is invalauable info to share. I'm going to keep checking back here for more info. Many thanks, John
  6. There is a great see through magazine cover of this car, Hot Rod November 1973 If I remember has the hatch version but there is another of the wagon version, in one other Hot Rod from the same year, (I think, cant remember) John
  7. Anyone know if either any super detail parts were ever made for this kit, or a right hand drive conversion kit etc. This looks a real fantastic kit for the time, 1960s but I would like to build a UK version. Thanks, John.
  8. I found this link for R&R kits, I once owned a 60 Cadillac flat top and wanted to replicate my car. They list a 1960 Chevrolet flat top and a 60 cadillac 2 door so I was hoping to cut the whole centre section complete with doors to save time fabricating and scribing in the door shuts as I am not good at this either. I do not know the quality or accuracy of these kits but the real car used the same front and rear glass and roof I believe, Then just scraping the trim down and adding the single spear as on the Cadillac series 62 cars. But looking at the body the sides are a different profile to the Cadillac .Here is a pic of an early effort built from a Gunze 1/32 kit.(just in case you missed it in the general thread) http://resinrealm.net/GALLERIES/RRGallery/index.html I had also planned another version using an AMT 59 El Camino roof/rear glass and the RM 59 Cadillac. Might work with the 59 Chev but I have not measured this up yet
  9. I had this model in ths colour(Green) for real, about 1993. Pretty rare here in the UK, mine had the gasoline heater that would clear a frosted screen in 30 seconds. Still got quite a few resto parts including fabric for the upholstery as no one else seems to have one in the uk Thanks, John
  10. I liked the old Johan Cadillac 60 Special models they made, my fave being the 58 Here is something I made a few years back, I built it for a 1:1 1960 I owned. The FlatTop design is not everyones favorite but no one makes a resin or a promo so this was built from a 1/32 Gunze 59 Eldorado. I might make a new project using a Monogram Eldo kit and incorperating the roof and back window from the AMT 59 Camino
  11. Thanks Harry, looked like it worked
  12. Here's my 1st attempt then, lets see what happens. Here's a bunch of my old kits.
  13. Hi all, this is my 1st attempt to post a pic but I cannot seem to manage it. I am using the Fotki free account and usually just copy the URL but this comes up as an error. I want to be able to post a pic of a model with the text of a question rather than as a small attachment. I do hope this is the correct section to ask this question, appologies if not. Thanks in anticipation, John
  14. My first guess, am going with real. Just a guess but looks real to me.
  15. There are a couple of nicely proportioned figures in the Futura kit where this girl model comes from, the guy is wearing a tux oddly. John
  16. As soon as everything comes out of storage I will post some model pix. The futura is a companion piece to a Revell/Futura conversion Batmobile. Thanks, J
  17. Thanks for all the welcomes and also the positives to my display. I'm really a kind of messy guy so everything has no particular order. I ride an old BSA A65 as a hobby bike and lust after the 1960 Cadillac I once had(resto project), hence all the Cadillac models in the 1st post pic. Thought you might like to look at my former work area, a bit of a jumble but everything has its place(ha ha) Thanks, John
  18. Thanks for the welcome. As soon as I get myself sorted I shall post some pics of my builds etc. Now I shall search my pic files and see if there is anything in there to contribute. Thanks again, John
  19. Hi all, my name is John, 48 y/o & I have been into model cars since my earliest days in modeling. Started out with the military stuff as I was brought up on stories of WII etc. Then I discovered Rommel's Rod and Hot Rod magazine. I build mainly 'kurbside slammers' or hot rods with minmum superdetailing, not that I cannot but I like to display my models with doors, hoods, shut etc. also I'm too eager to see the finished model. Well I have not built for a couple of years due to personal family issues but lurk and post on a few boards including Tom Carters Spotlite and any with a friendly outlook. Got a few half builts so there is something to pick up on one day just hope the skill has not gone. I always admire anyones effort from kiddie built glue bombs(because we have all been there) to the most fantastic super detailed show winner(if only I had time) so no one will get a downer from me! Oh did you wonder about 'HotRodaSaurus'? my tag, I sell old car mags(from the Jurassic age) but not usualy on ebay Thanks, John
