  1. Is this an example of suspended disbelief?
  2. Or, if I'm using more than one can...am I overdoing it?
  3. New Question: "Should" a 100ml spray paint can be enough for "normal" 1/25 scale car model (single color, full body)? I know there a lot of variables, like # of coats and such, but rule of thumb, one can should cover it? Or, should I usually count on buying two cans when planning the color for a new kit? Thoughts? *Yes, I need an airbrush.
  4. Finished Product A bit rough around the edges, but hey...it's a race car. Good times.
  5. On long stripe decals, once positioned, I will make a cut with a new blade along door lines and "tuck" those in the seams. It seems to help lessen the tension along the stripe and looks more realistic to me.
  6. Very interesting. Thanks for sharing.
  7. Yeah, I knew that coil did not look right. Oops. Sometimes my lack of mechanical knowledge, especially with engines, really shines! I started out trying to drill out the kit dash, but it got ugly quick. So, plan B. I always appreciate any insights. Thanks Andy. *I was wondering how they handled the rearview, now I see.
  8. I don't keep very good track of the vendors I use. If not Ebay, it was Ted's ...something. They are nicely textured and a shiny rim. I like 'em.
  9. I started the harness. I had to make my own straps from med. tape. The Gopher ribbon was not wide enough for the buckles. I'm liking the dashboard.
  10. I know you all are waiting to see how this is going to play out. So here is where I'm landing with the seatbelts. I created my own straps from medical tape and blue paint. I think they look good. I had trouble judging the lengths between buckles. I cut holes in the seat sides for a pas-thru. I don't know if I want to shoe the lap belts bolted (cage or floor?) or just tuck them under the seat. Also, what to do with the little pics on plain paper? White glue?
  11. I have yet to build any funny cars, but I will. Yes, I was curious to know if Jo-han kits in general were notably any "better" than the bigger brands.
  12. why are the buckles so obnoxiously wide? Or should I make a wider ribbon...or just go with it?
  13. Racing Harnesses - How to Does anyone have any insight on assembling these add-ons from Gopher Racing? I'm going with the four-point connection. I've done single belts before, so I have a couple tricks handling the ribbon like shape cuts, burning the finished edges, and a little dark varnish to age and stiffen them up a bit. What I don't see is how the belts get threaded through the different buckles (the stops and starts). All thoughts appreciated.
  14. I have since lost one to the dreaded CARPET MONSTER.
  15. I miscalculated the angle of the steering column. The hole is too low. I forgot about the fact that I cut away the pedals. Do I really want to send away for pedals? I have some Hurst shifters on the way. Is this model year to early for Hurst parts? Or, I may just go with a stick pin if I can find a good one. I tried to fake some rivets on the dash plate. I having a good time with this one.
  16. More time in the tub. I gave the interior a more consistent color. I gave the roll cage some touches. I cut a piece of styrene to simulate a sheet metal dash. Some online searches gave me some cool gauges and switches. I'm only using one seat, why are there two in the kit? They do have different heights...?
