Hi guys! Time for another build Decided to take a small break from pure breed Mopars and try to build some Ford cars. So first up is the Boss Mustang. Im not planning to do anything crazy with it - just a simple out of the box build. Lets see how it goes

Charger has been one of my favorite cars since childhood. Maybe some day i can own an 1:1 car too. Kit itself is from Revell. Definitely has its issues, but still a nice detailed kit. Was a fun build overall.

Day 14: Finished! (yay! im out of probation. No more waiting for admin approval for my posts!) So, finaly got it together. Definitely was a tough build and didnt go smoothly at all. I was so close to just giving up at one point, but got it together. Overall, im pretty happy how it turned out. Still need a bit of cleaning before storing. Thank you guys for following along See you at my next build.

Day 13: Assembly day! Time to start putting this thing together. Firstly, glued the glass. Tried the Microscale Kristal Klear glue. This thing is awesome. Will definitely start using it more. Its a sticky white glue - much better than the PVA i was using before. Then the interior tub went in following the undercarriage. Then i started to build the front end. Cant say it all fits together nicely - there's definitely some fitment issues, but got it pretty good overall. (dont mind the fingerprints too much It still needs a proper wipe) But already looks good enough to display it with my other models

EDIT: Something weird happening with the forum It cloned my last post

Day 12: Interior I had to redo the chrome around the window trim. This time i used the black gloss primer. Didnt take any pictures, but came out exactly the same. I also did some work on the interior tub. Wasnt too happy with the wood so i redid this too.

I used this stuff: It specifically says on the bottle to not clear coat over it. I guess its an alcohol based acrylic paint? Have to do some digging around to find out what went wrong - i really do like the paint alot.
-
Day 11: Setback Dont really know what went wrong, but the chrome paint didnt stick at all. I left the body to dry for about 2 days, but i was able to rub off the chrome with just the slightest touch. Luckily the body itself is fine - so im back at polishing and trying to paint the chrome again. But, i really dont know what went wrong? Should i have used a primer for the chrome too? I just sprayed it onto the body as is.

Love the red stripe. Looks really good Im building the same model - got a lot of inspiration from your build. How did you paint the wood on the center console?
-
Day 10: Trim work Time for some trim work. First it was masking. Tamiya tape is awesome, havent had any issues with it: Then i masked the entire body: Then i painted the trim with metallic chrome paint: Came out pretty good: Kinda looks like a Charger already

It seems that the moulding is off with this model. The same issues that you had, the dimple on the passenger door, corner of the rear quarter missing etc, i had too.

Thank you guys for your kind words

Your car looks sick! Definitely adding this to my "future builds" list

Day 9: Polishing Goddamn, the black paint is a real pain to polish. Ive been polishing it for a couple of hours by now (yep, hours. Like, many hours), but its still not perfect. I can still see some microscratches. I did the wetsanding using a 3000 grit sponge. Then polished it 2-3 times with tamiya coarse paste using the tamiya polishing sponges. After that, about 2-3 times with tamiya fine paste. And then 2 times with tamiya finish paste (using a random sock from my drawer ). Got it pretty good, but its not perfect. Dont know yet on what to do - leave it as is and apply some tinted wax or do some more polishing using something else - maybe some other paste and microfiber cloth or something. Dont know yet. I would really like to get some advice and tips on how to polish the black paint.

Day 8: Clear Coating Did the decals a few days ago. Decided not to do the rear stripe. I've always imagined that the Charger should be dark, menacing and loud. Something to be scared of when it rolls down the street. So in my mind, the rear stripe makes the car look a bit, i dont know, tame? Maybe its just me, idk Anyhow, i left the stripe out. Next was clear coating. After a few days of curing, it was time to get to work: (A bit dusty, i know ? Its just that the air in my house is really dry. Its a never-ending battle to try to get rid of it) Next up was clear coat. Ive read somewhere (maybe in this forum?) that if you wash the body with dishsoap just before you paint, it will get rid of any static electricity and it wont draw in dust as much. So i tried it. Seems to work - will definitely do this with my future builds too. The clear coat went on without issues - maybe i should have thinned it down a bit more - i did get a tiny amount of orange peel. But still, Im pretty happy how it turned out. After that, i left it to dry for a couple of days. Then it was sanding time. Its one of my favorite things about model building - i really do enjoy it. So I sanded the body down with 3000 grit sponge. Next up is polishing. So, to be continued

You guys are too kind Thank you

Day 7: Engine Did some work on the engine. Got the carburetor and airfilter on. Also tried to run the distributor wire to the coil - really dont know how you guys manage to do it. The wire itself is so small and fiddly. Spent a good half an hour just to get the one wire on. Cant imagine what the rest is going to be like
-
Day 6: Undercarriage Did some work on the undercarriage. Got the engine in, manifolds in place, exhaust is finished and rear axle is pretty much finished too.
-
Actually, the interior was supposed to be black, but i found this picture of your model before i started to build mine this pushed me to paint the interior white too. Very cool car you have there!
-
Yep, kit wheels without hubcaps
-
Built this during the christmas holiday. Really cool kit. It has some fitment issues, but overall it was fun to work with. One of my all time favorites - 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner in plum crazy.
-
Day 5: Painting! Did some painting today!
-
Thank you! I wouldnt call it a good while - i've built a few of them before, but still learning this stuff.
-
Think ill just leave it as is - hopefully its not that noticeable once its fully painted and clear coated
