  1. Thank you guys Yup, Fujimi's. So far, seems like a nice solid kit. A bit brittle to work with.
  2. Got a bit of an update! Decals are done And clearcoated
  3. Clearcoated Might need another coat after wetsanding. We'll see
  4. I did use the one from mr.color. Maybe the coat wasnt thick enough or the drying time wasnt long enough. Dont really know what happened - the paint itself is from gravity paints.
  5. Did some bodywork Started like always - wetsand with 600 and 1000 grit sponge I usually use two different primer on my models - a coarser primer (usually the surfacer 1000) and something finer. This time i only used one (i ran out of surfacer 1000 ?). So time for some pink primer ? After that, the paint. Classic Ferrari Rosso Corsa. Wow, this paint is hot - literally. Hottest paint ive ever used. It reacts like crazy. You can almost feel the reactive heat when spraying. Made it a tricky to use - took my time and did very light coats. Came out pretty good in the end. Did get a very light reaction on the roof, but not that noticeable.
  6. So, painted the engine Didnt want it to look too shiny - being an almost 40 year old Ferrari racing engine, you know. So, first a black coat of primer. Then a coat of aluminium grey and some blackwash. Came out pretty good, but damn this kit is full of tiny bits. Its going to take awhile to get it done Then I tried to paint the exhaust - my idea was to paint the headers and turbos as stained titanium and the exhaust part as a heat burnt iron. So i tried to mix some paint to look like iron. Really liked it at first, but after painting, im not so sure about it anymore. Doesnt scream like "racing" enough. Maybe add a touch of brown to it or strip and start again? Have to think about it a bit
  7. Already have flashbacks from years ago ? This kit is hard. But details are insane - miles ahead of everything Revell has. It took 20 parts to just build this engine - and its still missing most of the parts
  8. Seems like they used the moulds from the enthusiast kit and reboxed it as this kit. The instructions says that a lot of parts are not used, but seems like all the engine and the trunk (frunk?) area parts are there. Just not the instructions on how to assemble them. The enthusiasts kit came with the masking tape for the windows too - these are also missing from this kit.
  9. Very nice! How did you get the front grille so sharp and clean?
  10. Hi! Decided to do a small break from muscle cars and revell kits. Next up is a true italian classic - Ferrari 288 GTO, one of the best looking cars of all time (in my opinion - dont hate me ) I have tried to build it twice a lot of years ago and both times i gave up. First time, i didnt really know how to build models to begin with and this one isnt really a beginner friendly so it was a total loss. Second time i used spay cans and screwed up the paintjob: This is my third time. So lets see how it goes.
  11. Thank you all for your kind words Will try to take some pictures of the engine bay too.
  12. Took a long time, but finally finished this one. This was my first try at doing a vinyl roof Pretty happy how it turned out
  13. Finished ?
  14. Progress is slow, i know ? Its summer I did mess up the roof A pillar a bit, but nothing major. I also left out the rear quarter windows - IMO it looks a bit better without them.
  15. Thanks! Just a semi-gloss black following a matte clear. Would've liked to get a bit more textured look, but i'm pretty happy with it overall.
  16. Summer is the worst time to build models Theres always something else going on and dont really have enough time to build. But i've made some progress:
  17. Got the body painted
  18. So, i usually start my models with building the engine first. This time, i decided to start with the body. Using period correct colors isnt really my thing so dont hate me ? Wetsanded the body with 600 grit sponge. Then a coat of primer (the usual - surfacer 1000): Then did some more sanding. And some more priming: Then came the fun part ? Coat of red undercoat: After that, a candy red basecoat: Maybe i should've done a black primer to get a darker look. But still pretty happy with how it turned out .
  19. Yup, its revell's. Havent really tried other kits so cant really comment on that. I do know the revell is 1:24 scale and MPC is 1:25. So dont know how much do they differ.
  20. Hey again! My WIP Dodge Dart is still waiting on some parts so in the meantime i decided to do another quick build. So next up is the 1970 Pontiac Firebird. Wont try to do anything fancy, just a simple out of the box build. However i do plan to try a special paint on it, but dont want to spoil anything ? I already got it started - the body is sanded and ready for a primer coat. Its so nice to finally be able to work outside too
  21. You'd think that getting the 010 x 030 styrene strips would be easy, but no. I've searched high and low, but nothing. It seems these are common in US, but really rare in EU. I was finally able to order a set from Poland, but its been 10 days and they're still in mail somewhere. So bodywork is on hold for now. But, i did some work on the undercarriage. Heres a first hint of the paint too - Alfa Romeo Ocra Gold ? Also did some work on the engine. Making the ignition wires is still something that i struggle.
  22. I've been busy doing some stuff around my house so havent really got around to build my model. But i'm still here - havent gone anywhere Did some work on the engine:
  23. Did some work on the interior ?This time, its the classic black leather again. Also painted the underside too, but not going to show yet. Its a bit unusual color. I'll show it when i get around to painting the body.
  24. Thank you all for your kind words! ? Found an almost new Ikea Blaliden display cabinet from Facebook marketplace for dirt cheap! So cabinet problem is solved!
  25. Theres something special about vintage drag cars. They just look so cool! Anyhow, back to my model. Did a bit of thinking and decided to go for a two tone paintjob. Not really sure about vinyl roof yet - i havent done this before and i'm a bit scared to try it. If someone has any tips or tricks then im all ears (Dont want to do the painters tape version). So, i wanted to add the roof trim strip to the model. Unfortunately i couldnt find small enough plastic from my local hobby store. So i decided to be a bit creative. I took a scrap spruce from my old Charger kit, heated it up with blowtorch and stretched it out until i had a thin wire. After that i glued it in place with some cement. Came out pretty good for a first try.
