  1. Took a long time, but finally finished this one. This was my first try at doing a vinyl roof Pretty happy how it turned out
  2. Finished ?
  3. Progress is slow, i know ? Its summer I did mess up the roof A pillar a bit, but nothing major. I also left out the rear quarter windows - IMO it looks a bit better without them.
  4. Thanks! Just a semi-gloss black following a matte clear. Would've liked to get a bit more textured look, but i'm pretty happy with it overall.
  5. Summer is the worst time to build models Theres always something else going on and dont really have enough time to build. But i've made some progress:
  6. Got the body painted
  7. So, i usually start my models with building the engine first. This time, i decided to start with the body. Using period correct colors isnt really my thing so dont hate me ? Wetsanded the body with 600 grit sponge. Then a coat of primer (the usual - surfacer 1000): Then did some more sanding. And some more priming: Then came the fun part ? Coat of red undercoat: After that, a candy red basecoat: Maybe i should've done a black primer to get a darker look. But still pretty happy with how it turned out .
  8. Yup, its revell's. Havent really tried other kits so cant really comment on that. I do know the revell is 1:24 scale and MPC is 1:25. So dont know how much do they differ.
  9. Hey again! My WIP Dodge Dart is still waiting on some parts so in the meantime i decided to do another quick build. So next up is the 1970 Pontiac Firebird. Wont try to do anything fancy, just a simple out of the box build. However i do plan to try a special paint on it, but dont want to spoil anything ? I already got it started - the body is sanded and ready for a primer coat. Its so nice to finally be able to work outside too
  10. You'd think that getting the 010 x 030 styrene strips would be easy, but no. I've searched high and low, but nothing. It seems these are common in US, but really rare in EU. I was finally able to order a set from Poland, but its been 10 days and they're still in mail somewhere. So bodywork is on hold for now. But, i did some work on the undercarriage. Heres a first hint of the paint too - Alfa Romeo Ocra Gold ? Also did some work on the engine. Making the ignition wires is still something that i struggle.
  11. I've been busy doing some stuff around my house so havent really got around to build my model. But i'm still here - havent gone anywhere Did some work on the engine:
  12. Did some work on the interior ?This time, its the classic black leather again. Also painted the underside too, but not going to show yet. Its a bit unusual color. I'll show it when i get around to painting the body.
  13. Thank you all for your kind words! ? Found an almost new Ikea Blaliden display cabinet from Facebook marketplace for dirt cheap! So cabinet problem is solved!
  14. Theres something special about vintage drag cars. They just look so cool! Anyhow, back to my model. Did a bit of thinking and decided to go for a two tone paintjob. Not really sure about vinyl roof yet - i havent done this before and i'm a bit scared to try it. If someone has any tips or tricks then im all ears (Dont want to do the painters tape version). So, i wanted to add the roof trim strip to the model. Unfortunately i couldnt find small enough plastic from my local hobby store. So i decided to be a bit creative. I took a scrap spruce from my old Charger kit, heated it up with blowtorch and stretched it out until i had a thin wire. After that i glued it in place with some cement. Came out pretty good for a first try.
  15. Time for another Mopar This time, the Charger's little brother - Dart Thinking of doing a vinyl roof (havent done this before) or maybe a two tone painjob? Dont know yet. I have an idea for the bodypaint - again, pretty unusal color for this car, but maybe it will look good. We'll see.
  16. Yup, it was in the kit. Its not a reflection - I did painted it in chrome ?
  17. Engine bay still needs a bit of work
  18. This one was pretty fun to build. Model did have some minor issues, but overall went together nicely Really love classic Mustangs. Will definitely build the Shelby gt350 too. Thinking of buying the Ikea Blaliden cabinet for my models. Anyone have any experience with it? Is it worth it?
  19. Hopefully the headlight glue will dry transparent, but overall its finished ?
  20. Forgot to take some pictures, but painted the window trim. Did screw up a bit doing that - didnt cut the tape as straight as i would have liked. But still came out pretty good. Then glued the windows - the rear one had some fitment issues, but still got it pretty good.
  21. Didnt even noticed that, but now when i look at some of the reference pictures, youre right
  22. Interior is pretty much done Also did some wiring
  23. Got the body clear coated
  24. Painted the engine compartment black. Also did some decal work I'll let it dry for a day and then its clearcoat time
  25. I'm by no means an expert of scribbing, but its a thick rigid tape that helps you to cut in straight lines. This is mostly used for creating new panel lines, but it also helps to scribe the existing ones too. So, you tape the edge of whatever you want to scribe and run your knife along side it. The tape will keep the knife from jumping out of the line. I used the Dspiae one, but they're all the same no matter who makes them.
