Nightmare1: Window frame Its a nightmare Why did i decided to build it? Got the the window frame glued together. Needed a lot of measuring, testfitting ja thinking. The plastic is like a classic fujimi - a bit brittle and thin Then did a lot of testfitting and trying how it should all go together in the end Added some supports for the window frame. This way, it should survive the sanding and painting a bit better.....maybe But its definitely going to be a tough build.

Hi! Huracan is finished - so time for another build. So, my goal for this year was to try to put the legendary Huayra together. But i'm still not quite there yet to try it. Its a really hard build. So, wanted to try something else for this year. Something more challenging.... So here it is - the Ferrari 275 Spyder. An ultra rare car in real life (and quite rare as a kit too). Total of 10 cars were ever made in real life. This car was supposed to be Ferrari's breakthrough model into the US market at later 60's. So a true gentlemen's race car. Some argue its one of the best looking Ferraris ever made. One thing is certain - its a really cool car. So kit itself is an older Revell's kit. Over 30 years old. So it has some issues. Most obvious one is the broken windshield frame. Also the decals have yellowed quite a bit. So its a nice challenge to try and fix it. Other than that, it seems fine, untouched kit. Like always, will build it as true to the original as i can. So no crazy mods or anything. Oh, i also changed my usual image sharing site. So i will upload into the hobbyphoto site from now on. So forgive me if the pictures seems off a bit. Simo.

Well, hello again Here i am again with my newest build - this time its another Lamborghini (i really love italian cars). Wanted a stock oem look. Didn't want to create something that looks like a tuned racecar. Rather something someone would keep in their garage, only take it out on a sunny sunday afternoon for a blast on some local roads. So something clean, mean and beautiful. So here it is - The Huracan in grigio lynx. Just the way i like it Heres the WIP thread: Thanks for looking! Simo.

And done! It was a pretty fun build Will post some more pictures at a later date in the UTG subforum. In the meantime, heres a picture of four sisters together

Glued the taillights together. Was harder than it looks The shape of them was really awkward Then glued the lenses. Orange one was really bad to glue - theres a non existent lip where its supposed to go Then glued the lights into the rear panel Then glued the rear axle, wheel arches and engine in And finally the interior Almost done

Was contemplating why the headlight bases are made of clear plastic. Seems like a weird way to mold these. Anyway, i decided to just paint them black. Then painted the white lights too. Found out that the instruction also shows the lights having a chrome cup-thingies behind them. Then it dawned on me - these are sockets for LED bulbs! The kit is designed to have working LED lights to light up the headlights! Thats why its molded in clear plastic Such a cool little detail! Sadly, i haven't really done any LED lights on my models so they wont be used on mine. Then painted the lense parts too. Decided to add a bit of clear blue to the outside reflectors too to add a bit of character. Then glued everything together After glueing, the inner reflectors looked a bit bland so decided to add a bit of blue to them too. Then glued the front vent area together as well And glued them to the body Looks like a face of a Lamborghini already

Lets continue with this build The Revells Revuelto should come out next week so i need some room on my bench. So, theres two versions of rear decklid in this kit - i'm going with the glass window version. The other one is with black louvres (i think its what they're called). That means that the engine is visible through the glass. So wanted to add the plug wires to it so it doesn't look as plain as it is. So grabbed some wires and started glueing. Also added a line to the intake manifold's underside And did the same on the other side too. Then painted the intake manifold's cover. Added some bare metal foil strips and painted the throttle bodies in silver. Then added the decals Testfitted them together Looks pretty neat I also painted the brake disks and added the decals too Also added the decals to the body Will leave them to dry for a day or two. Then its time for some clearcoating and putting this thing together

Bodywork time! Was thinking of what color should i paint it... Definitely didn't want anything too loud or obnoxious so yellow-purple-red etc was off the table. Wanted a bit darker and menacing look. It is an italian supercar after all. So sprayed the body with some primer and did a session of wetsanding Then another coat of primer and another wetsanding session with higher grit paper. Then the third coat of primer And you guessed it - another wetsanding session And finally the paint itself As its called the deep and powerful grey - the Grigio Lynx

More mods to make my life harder So, added the trimpiece to the roof panel This one was hard - tried to glue it as straight as humanly possible. Think i did a pretty good job - atleast i'm happy with it Then decided that the interior needs a bit more detail Really liked the chrome trim around the center console part in 1:1 car. So decided i'm going to create these in my model too. So dipped the interior tub and dash into some DOT oil to strip the paint. After that, glued the trim in place Then repainted it and did some bare metal foiling (god, i hate this stuff. Its just so annoying to work with. With a lot of cursing and wanting to throw it out the window, i got it finally done. Looks pretty okayish. Will do the dash at a later date Right now, i don't want to look another metal foil sheet for a while. Also started doing the bodywork First, a coat of primer to get all the little dings and scratches to show up Then the wetsanding session to fix all the scratches Then another coat of tinted primer (No, i haven't completely lost my mind - the car won't stay in pink ) Didn't get around to do the final paintjob - i like to do them with clean airbrush and in clean booth. I was just too lazy to clean them up But i did paint the engine a bit more

Mods, mods, mods We had our first snow of this season today So whats a better way to spend some time inside than building model cars? So i glued the bumpers on Used these clamp-thingies again. Really great and cheap tools to have. Wanted to clean up the edge a bit where the bumper meets the body. So grabbed some scribbing tape Then scribbed some lines to it My trick is to count the times the blade passes over it. So its 10 times for every line. This way, you'll keep the lines nice and uniform in depth After that, i added some extra thin quick drying cement into it and left it out to rest. You'll get a nice and crisp lines in the end (I'm not a pro so don't take everything i do too seriously) The 1:1 car has some thin chrome lines on the sidedoor too where the window drops into the door. I really like the look of them. Unfortunately in this kit, they are not molded. So i decided to do my own Getting ready to use styrene strips seems to be impossible where i'm from so had to be creative. I took some tamiya styrene strips, heated them up over candle and stretched them out to thin wire. Then glued them into the doors. Pretty happy how it came out. Will chrome them up later down the line once the body is painted. Then wanted to try out something new - scrapbuild my own parts I really suck at doing stuff like these. So the engine bay is pretty bland and boring on this kit and definitely needs some more detail. So decided to create my own expansion tank for it. Took some scrap piece i had laying around Cut and sanded it into shape. Then glued some scarp piece ontop of it Once dried, i cut it in lenght and heres how it turned out Theres also two transparent t-top panels in this kit. I learned from my Aventador build that its best to glue them together to keep them straight. So i taped up the body Then after a lot of testfitting and sanding, i glued them together Pretty happy how it turned out

Exhaust could be a bit better, but otherwise looks really nice

So, some more interior work Dash is done Steering wheel too Did some flocking and glued the center console in Then the dash went in Clamped and glued the seats And finally glued everything in place

Well, lets continue doing some work on the interior I kinda love supercar interiors - they just look so cool. Like a spaceship Taped up the dash (i know, its a bit overkill, but i can't help it ) Then did some painting and clearcoating And testfitted it into the tub Kindof reminds me of liquorice candy

I'm definitely not good at scrapbuilding, but heres how one can get a set of lights to their Corvette. Step 1: Tape the hole and trace it with pencil Step 2: Cut out the template from the tape and stick it to some scrap headlight lens Step 3: Cut and shape......cut and shape..... until it fits into the hole Step 4: repeat the step 3 on the other side Step 5: Glue some scrap pieces to the other side Aaaand you have a bumper ready for lights In my opinion, it looks a lot better than just painted on headlights (Or are they daylight running lights? Or maybe blinkers? I'm not even sure)

The interiors of modern supercars are quite fun to build Theres loads of buttons and complicated edges to paint. Really fun to do. So, first did some painting of the doorpanels. Painted the armrests in brown, the speaker grills in gloss black and did a bit of silver detailing. Came out pretty okayish - the brown turned out a bit sloppy, but it doesn't bother me that much Then it was time for some real fun The center console. Went i bit overboard with it, but oh well So, first painted the armrest in brown, then added some gloss black around the buttons. Then did the silver detailing. Still a long way to go, but looks pretty neat already

Ooh, that is one cool car you have there One of my dream cars. Have you got any closeups of the door? Is there a chrome trim or just a rubber seal where the window slides into the door?

Wow! Almost two months without any updates. I've been lazy lately. Time to get up and do some work. So, started working on the interior. Ideally i would like the endresult look like a clean and refined supercar. No fancy modifications, no spoilers, no youtuber-kids tuning. Just a classic lamborghini. But then again, i don't want to make it too boring. So decided i'm going with the two tone interior. So painted it in satin black. Seats got a nice coat of flat brown Really like how it turned out. Looks like a dark toffee chocolate. Also painted the exhaust manifolds And brake rotors got a coat of paint too. Still a long road ahead, but its getting there

So, lets begin then. It's been long enough without updates. Decided i'm going to build this one as stock as possible. I like how the bodylines flow on this model so i won't glue the spoilers on. I think leaving them off, gives it a bit cleaner look. One thing i hated about this kit is the front daylight(?) running lights. They're molded into the bumper and the instructions calls for painting them. I don't like it. So i grabbed my trusty old drill and went to town! After that, i cut the part out with my hobby knife Looks a bit neater already Will try to create some lights into those sockets later. Also did some painting on the interior tub and the engine. I know the engine is supposed to be teal blue on the 1:1 car, but i decided for bright red. I just like the look of it a bit more.
