  1. Painted the headlights Then did some scribbing And then.... 2 hours of trying to get the white lines straight
  2. Still havent decided about those carbon decals. Maybe i'll use a satin black paint or tamiya carbon decal instead. The decals from the kit has a bit grayish color which i'm not a big fan of.
  3. Thats actually a really genius idea Will definitely keep it in mind
  4. So, Day 2 of painting the body First, a quick wash with dishsoap. After that, into the booth it went Two more coats of primer later And then two coats of black primer. Came out pretty nice. Although, found some very tiny scratches still visible, but nothing serious. The paint and clear should hide them pretty well Seems like i can finally get to the painting 😎 Although, it looks pretty evil in satin black
  5. So, about these doors... They seems to be the biggest issue with this kit - they wont sit very well. So I was thinking of glueing them in anyway. So after a lot of trial and error, i got them in: This created another issue - the doorpanels doesnt fit anymore without some modifying. Like Dennis said before, they wont fit well anyway so i decided to modify them a bit smaller and thinner. So now, they should slot right in without issues. After that, i did my usual wetsanding session: And some more priming and wetsanding: The orange plastic is quite a nightmare to work with - it seems like whatever i do, the orange will still shine through. So finally got the prime coat smooth enough and i'll let it dry for a day before starting again with the next step..... which is more priming 😁
  6. Thanks guys Did some more detailing work Did the carpeting, decals and I also used the Ammo mig crystal glass for the gauges. Cool stuff. After that, seats, dash and everything else So interior is done!
  7. Did some more work on the interior The dash is pretty much done - only some decal work left
  8. Exhaust is pretty much done Couldnt find any good pictures of the turbos on 1:1 car so had to improvise. Painted the intake hose black and added a small strip of foil to look like a hose clamp Then glued them to the engine After that, some testfitting before assembly Looks pretty cool already And did some quick work on the brake discs too - these are also done now So, bodywork is next
  9. Thanks for the heads up 😁 I do have an idea for the doors, but not sure if i'll go there yet
  10. So, decided to redo the exhaust. So into the alcohol it went. Then repainted it without the blue shade Came out a lot better, but still not the way i wanted it to be. Still pretty happy with it - looks a lot better than before: Then did the brakes, lights and wheels Somehow the manual shows that the engine crossmember-thingy should be black and silver, but every reference pictures shows it as plain black. So i painted it black: Then it was time for the interior. Tub is painted, the seats are also half way done: Also did some work on the engine bay:
  11. Thank you guys - you're too kind 😁 My soon-to-be-wife really loves old beetles so i built this one the way she would've liked it. I'm pretty proud how it turned out.
  12. Thank you! I'm not that experienced in building models so it means a lot to get some good feedback. Keeps me motivated to try harder on my next builds
  13. Did some work on the engine. Not so sure about how the exhaust came out anymore. Maybe ill dip it into the Dot oil and try to re-do it.
  14. Finally got this done Cute little car. Kit itself is from Revell. Really great kit - no issues at all pretty much. Thanks! Simo.
  15. aaaaand done 😁 Still needs a bit of cleaning and waxing, but the glue is still a bit too wet for that. So i'll show it off in under the glass topics a bit later. Thanks for following
  16. Bumpers are installed 😁
  17. Thank you Misha! Happy new year to you too! Also a little update 🙃
  18. Did some more work Its getting there
  19. Day 1 ooh, supercars are cool to build totally different breed of cars than old V8-s. Kit itself is also pretty good. Not as good as the Beetle, but still a lot better than those old tool cars. Theres a fair bit of flashing, but nothing major. Details are also very good. I'm a bit hangover from new years eve, but still decided to do some painting. Still waiting for the body paint to arrive - not going to spoil it yet, but it should look really good when its done.
  20. Hi guys! First off - Happy new year! 🙃 So, lets kick this year off with some new model car projects. Wanted to try something different than my regular old american muscle cars (i'm secretly planning to tackle the infamous Pagani Huayra by Aoshima this year). So this is my first build of the year, a real exotic - the Mclaren 570s. One of the best looking cars of this decade IMO. Kit already looks more difficult to build than your regular old kits. So lets see how it goes
  21. Funny, the forum is acting up a bit on me.... or maybe theres something wrong with the imgur site, idk. So lets try this again Got the body clear coated
  22. So, decided to do the paintjob again. The Tamiya red isnt what i hoped it was. So I stripped the body and redid everything. This time i used a new paint Called AE86 from Number5 paints. Everything else was just like above. After that, it was time for the interior. Was playing around with Mr.Hobby Masking liquid 😁
  23. I think its been around since 2013 or so. So not that new of a kit. Seems like its the Revell's tooling - fitment is alot better than the usual Monogram stuff. Anyway - did some more work: First, some tape work Then some paintwork Then some sanding work .....And priming work And painting again
  24. Engine is finished
