1. Thanks! Paint is called volcano orange. Its actually clear red over pearl gold
2. Didnt get much done this week. Work took its time 🙃 But did the windows/glass trim painting 😁 Not much left to do
3. Had some major airbrush issues this week. My airbush started sputtering ever so slightly - didnt noticed it at first, but felt like something was wrong when i did my second coat of paint. It left a really rough surface on the paint. Took it apart, deep cleaned everything, but was still the same. Eventually found out that a bit of paint had leaked into the air valve compartment. So after another deep cleaning session, everything was fine again... But not without some damage You can see it on the engine Decided to leave it as is - it'll get covered later anyway. Unfortunately, i had to redo the bodywork. So the body got stripped and another sanding-priming session. This time, everything went smooth as butter. Then did some tape work on the interior And some painting And this is how it turned out
4. Day 2 of painting Some daylight pictures Then the second part of this paint Looks like a brick of toffee 🙃
5. Decided to redo the interior. The custom mix wasnt as good as i wouldve liked. Was just too yellow. I wanted it to be a bit more like a lamborghini cream leather. So i did another mix 😁 First, i did some more sanding - there was still some flashing left from before. After that, i dipped everything into the DOT4 oil Then i resanded and sprayed everything with white primer And i resprayed it 😁 Then it was time for bodywork. I found a small dent on the rear deck. So i used some putty and sanded it smooth Then reprimed it with white primer And then it was time for some painting 😁 Dont worry, it wont stay this yellow for long
6. Theres a new one coming out in october too 😁
7. Thank you! Yup, exactly. Just over tape and trim back with x-acto blade. Afterwards I usually follow along the cut lines with a plastic pick from a Victorinox Swiss army knife 😁 Its a nice soft thin pick - works really great. Better than using fingernails
8. Got the body clearcoated 😁 Definitely worth it Will let it dry for a while now.
9. Did a bit of wetsanding And some painting And started doing the interior
10. A bit of tape work And some paint work And did some progress
11. Aaaaaaand............. its painted Definitely not the easiest paint to spray - quite a challenge to get it down smoothly. But oh boy does it look good in the end
12. I can re-create the issue pretty easily. It seems it has something to do with tag. For me, the "oops, that page cannot be found" appears when i copy the address from one browser to another. So, for example, i copy the (from my case, imgur) address using one browser and pasting it to the thread on another browser. It works fine if i copy and paste it from one tab to another.
13. So, into the booth it went Did my first coat of paint. Very first layer or paint: Then another, and another, and another..... And heres how it came out Will let it dry for a day or two before it goes back to the paintbooth again and gets its final coat of paint
14. Hi! Picked this one up from Facebook Marketplace - should be a quick and fun build. So lets see how this one goes
15. Painted the headlights Then did some scribbing And then.... 2 hours of trying to get the white lines straight
16. Still havent decided about those carbon decals. Maybe i'll use a satin black paint or tamiya carbon decal instead. The decals from the kit has a bit grayish color which i'm not a big fan of.
17. Thats actually a really genius idea Will definitely keep it in mind
18. So, Day 2 of painting the body First, a quick wash with dishsoap. After that, into the booth it went Two more coats of primer later And then two coats of black primer. Came out pretty nice. Although, found some very tiny scratches still visible, but nothing serious. The paint and clear should hide them pretty well Seems like i can finally get to the painting 😎 Although, it looks pretty evil in satin black
19. So, about these doors... They seems to be the biggest issue with this kit - they wont sit very well. So I was thinking of glueing them in anyway. So after a lot of trial and error, i got them in: This created another issue - the doorpanels doesnt fit anymore without some modifying. Like Dennis said before, they wont fit well anyway so i decided to modify them a bit smaller and thinner. So now, they should slot right in without issues. After that, i did my usual wetsanding session: And some more priming and wetsanding: The orange plastic is quite a nightmare to work with - it seems like whatever i do, the orange will still shine through. So finally got the prime coat smooth enough and i'll let it dry for a day before starting again with the next step..... which is more priming 😁
20. Thanks guys Did some more detailing work Did the carpeting, decals and I also used the Ammo mig crystal glass for the gauges. Cool stuff. After that, seats, dash and everything else So interior is done!
21. Did some more work on the interior The dash is pretty much done - only some decal work left
22. Exhaust is pretty much done Couldnt find any good pictures of the turbos on 1:1 car so had to improvise. Painted the intake hose black and added a small strip of foil to look like a hose clamp Then glued them to the engine After that, some testfitting before assembly Looks pretty cool already And did some quick work on the brake discs too - these are also done now So, bodywork is next
23. Thanks for the heads up 😁 I do have an idea for the doors, but not sure if i'll go there yet
