Hi! Finally finished this one! Its kind of my redemption build - started the same kit last year, but screwed up, lost interest and quit. So decided to try it again this year. So i bought a new kit and this time i was able to finish it Pretty happy how it turned out. Heres the WIP thread: Thanks for looking See you in my next build threads! Simo.

And its done! Finished this last night Really like the kit - didnt have much issues. Some minor fitment issues here and there, but overall a really nice and solid kit. Will post more pictures under the UTG subforum Thanks for following! Time to take up another kit Simo.

So, its pretty much home straight Not much left to do. Radiator and the front nose panel (idk, what its called in real life ) is done. The firewall with brake booster is also done Then painted the lights Also finished the front end And the first step of the final assembly - the interior is in, undercarriage is also in place Brown interior looks pretty cool inside a red car Getting the engine in is the next step

Did the window trim Decided to try out the famous revell Chrome spray Decanted it and used an airbrush do spray it on. Paint is definitely pretty cool. Used some Tamiya's lacquer black as base and sprayed it on Paint looks pretty awesome!

Summer is the worse time to do model building - theres always other stuff around the house needing to be done. But still, when i get a chance, i do try to do something. I have done the decals already and the body got its clearcoat too

So, what to do when the paint/glue dries? You can organize your tool drawers 😁 So thats what i did! Heres all the tools and paints i have - everything nicely organized into two drawers You guys having separate workshops for this hobby are lucky as hell Anyhow, i got the body clearcoated

You think you're at the point where you can safely say that waterslide decals aren't that bad.....then this kit comes along So, about the pinstripes........... First, you have to secure the body. A rolled up socks are a good tool for that Or a half empty roll of toiletpaper. Then you got to do the easier ones first - you don't want to see any decals for a very long time after you do the stripes. Then its showtime - pinstripes. Theres no quick and easy way to do it. A lot of patience (A LOT!!!) and a lot of swearing. Make sure the water is warm! Soak the decals for a good bit of time before even trying to do them. Took me easily two hours to install four decals. Got them as straight as i could. So good enough for me Jokes aside, the pinstripe decals are horrible to install. Luckily, they're quite good in quality wise. Left the hood decals off. Seemed a bit too much for the look i'm going for

Got myself these clamps and put them to a good use. Really nice tools to clamp down old and bent monogram parts Finished up the front and rear axles. Was just tinkering when i felt better - sadly didn't take any photos of the process. Undercarriage is pretty much done Did some more testfitting for kicks

Did some engine building Exhaust manifolds are on Belts too Carburetor and ignition coil Did some testfitting to see how it would look inside the engine bay. Pretty neat if you ask me 😃 After that, did some wiring and engine is pretty much done!

Re-painted the engine This time i went with a more glossy finish. Came out pretty good Also went a little crazy painting the oilfilter Painted the aux belt and pulleys Some random hoses and axle parts And also did some more bare metal foiling (yep, still hate this stuff )

Interior is pretty much done 😄

Did a bit of work on some random parts (i'm just bored 😄) There's two options for the gearstick - small and large (seriously one is small, the other one is large ). I picked the smaller one. Painted the knob in white. Should go pretty well with brown interior Started some work on the front grille too. The blinkers got its first coat of paint Underside is pretty much done. Also painted the engine. Was trying to mix something similar to hemi orange, but got this darker satin look. I kinda like it so i'll probably leave it as is 😃 Whats an american muscle without some chromed parts 😁 So i'll definitely add some

Minor update! Did some bare metal foiling again 😁 Still hate this stuff. My modded seats got a nice chrome trim on them Testfitted to seats to get an idea for the finished interior

Did a bit of taping. The front bumper was pretty horrible to do Also did the window trim Came out pretty ok Also did some work on the interior Wanted a bit of creamier look so repainted the seats and interior tub. After that, did some painting with black

About the paint...... It can't be a boring one. First, i testfitted the hood. Sits very well. Didn't need any work Front grille was also pretty solid. After that, i taped up the grille Then it was time for some bodywork. Marked every defect i saw (was quite a lot actually) Sanded everything flat. Antenna hole too Drilled out the door locks and started spraying First, the primer Then some silver Mixed some paint and started laying it down one light coat at a time After a few hours of painting, this is the end result Will let it dry for a couple of days in the meantime, i can start my work on the engine

And lets continue Brush the glue on (found a really good glue in my local "dollar store" type shop. Its water based and flows really good. So if i screw something up, i can just wash it and retry). I'll let the glue set a bit before flocking. Then i shaked the flocking on using that tea-strainer-ball-thingy Let it set another minute or so before damping the flocking down. Just a light tapping. Then the part will sit for a couple of minutes before shaking the excess flock off.

Lets continue 😃 Had some issues before with bare metal foil leaving glue residue onto the flat paint. Horrible to clean up. So this time i'm smarter! I'm going to tape it 😎 After that, i did some bare metal foiling (i hate this stuff. Its a real struggle to get it wrinkle free). Aaaand voila! No glue residue 😎 Then it was time for some flocking Made myself this little tool-thingy a while back to help with flocking. And doorpanels are done 😃 Pretty happy with them.

I think so. It was a mix of stupid mistakes. The paint was on the thicker side and needed some more time to cure. The plastic container i had stored my pieces in had some tiny amount of water inside it left when i did some wetsanding. So the hood piece was soaking overnight inside a tiny puddle ruining the paint. Anyway, did some painting Door cards got some silver paint Also the dash And the seats Looks pretty okayish

Did some tapework Taped up the chromed center console piece. I actually really like the shine of out-of-the box chrome. Have always wondered what kind of process are they using manufacturing these things. I actually really like the cutting mat too. Why haven't i bought this before? After that, did some painting. Seems like i'm still on brown interior phase But in all seriousness, it should look really cool once its done. A little side-mod too. I'm going to delete the antenna hole this time. So did some more of that candle and scrap thingy to create a plug for the hole. After which i glued it into the hole. Will wait once its dry to cut and sand it to flat.

You lucky guy! Owning an Impala is a dream of mine. Owning an Impala at 17 is just awesome. (My first car at 17 was this crappy integra 😁)

So lets start 😃 Got myself this pretty-fancy cutting mat Glued the engine together While glueing the seats together, i decided to do some modding. Wanted to add the chrome trim behind the back rests. Where i live, the flat styrene strips are pretty hard to find (like impossible) so had to make my own. Took a small candle and a few scrap strips from the parts tree. Heated up the scrap piece to the point its pretty much melting and streched it out to a thin wire Then glued them around the seat Looks pretty ugly now, but will clean it up once its dried
