  1. Very nice build. Always been a fan of Terry Labonte.
  2. Very nice job. It appears your Polar Lights kit went together better than my Dodge Charger did. I struggled with nearly every part getting them to fit!
  3. Inspired by the TV commercials of Tony Stewart on a household construction mission. The hardest part was opening the trunklid. The ladder, lumber, and pipes are made from Plastruct parts. I really enjoyed this change of pace from the same old Monogram stocker.
  4. Excellent clean builds! I like that you go for the 'lesser known' names, not the same old #3, 24, etc.
  5. Thanks for the correction, moparfarmer. I'm reminded every day that I don't know as much as I thought (a good thing)!
  6. From the days when there were more than 3 manufacturers trying to win on Sunday - sell on Monday. The car that had the misfortune of leading to restrictor plates after the trip through the fence (almost) at Talledega. I always liked the Buicks and Oldmobiles better than the Monte Carlos for some reason.
  7. I've had fairly good luck with the Micro 'Superfilm". What I've found is to apply it to the decal you wish to save, let it dry 5 mins then apply as a normal decal. If I wait too long it's like I didn't apply it at all. Very good idea to make copies ahead of time!
  8. Monogram Ford, I don't remember where I got the decals, Shabo tire transfers. Built back in the '90's, the decals have started to yellow. I was a big fan, him being an underdog. And the 'Polish Victory Lap', always admired his pride in his heritage. Thanks for looking.
  9. Way cool, daddy-o. Is that a factory engine color?
  10. Very nice. I'm also partial to the 'finned' era of the '50's. To the days when you could tell the make, model, year of the cars on the road at night just by the taillights!
  11. One of Neil Bonnett's earlier rides, the 'squarebird' from the Monogram kit. Tim Richmond, taken too young. Davey Allison, who knows how far he would have gone? Rest in peace.
  12. Thanks ffreak. I built this one several years ago and yes, the decals were a bear. I'd seen the video on youtube but hadn't seen these pictures of the remains. Just incredible!
  13. Remember Mikey's horrific crash at Bristol? Search YouTube. I remember them interviewing him in a golf cart on pit road heading to the infield care center and him saying "we might get back out there to run some laps if the car isn't too bad". He obviously hadn't seen the replay! I've never seen a car destroyed like that before or since, and I watch nearly every race that's televised. Someone was watching over him that day.
  14. Love it, a 6-door! Can anyone else picture a mid-engined sleeper with big-n-littles? Get creative, these are what our grandkids will be driving, and they will make their own memories just as we did in our '64 Falcons or '75 Vegas while we were dreaming of SS Chevelles and hemi Roadrunners!
  15. Very nice job on all four. I especially like the Army car. Kulwicki was a favorite, bein' an underdog an' all.
  16. Chuck used to race at Ken Squier's "Thunder Road" 1/4 mile high-banked oval in Barre, VT in the 80's. He was one of the first to run a V6 in a Pontiac 6000 back in those days. Always a very popular driver. He ran with the likes of Ricky Craven, Randy Lajoie, and Kevin LePage, to name some other drivers racing up here that made it to the big leagues.
  17. Very nice. Looks as though you have black painting down pat! Done any earlier ones?
  18. Love the Mercury, who's car is that? You must be 'old school'.
  19. Very cool. I wonder also about white wheels on one side and black on the other? Where did you find the reference photos?
  20. It's difficult for me to think of Bobby Labonte as a grizzled veteran, and not Terry's little brother. This was his BGN ride in the early '90's, I can't remember the exact year?
  21. Very nice! I love the gauges and interior. Also very good work on the tire lettering. When did Sterling run this car? I've watched nearly every televised race since 1979 (I know, I know, get a life) and I don't remember this car at all. Great job.
  22. You mean this one? I didn't know Jeff ran this car. Note the Hoosier tires.
  23. No, you're not the only one. 2 marraiges and 2 kids will put a little gray on anyone!
  24. I too am interested in seeing your completed build. Perhaps the museum at Daytona, or the Nascar Hall of Fame at Charlotte could be of help?
  25. The only modification to the AMT kit was a new grill opening cut from sheet stock. Don't remember where I got the decals?
