  1. That's the best way I've seen to deal with this kit's many flaws / fit issues! Turn the weaknesses into strengths.
  2. Awesome job. It's so much more difficult than a shiny new car fresh from the garage!
  3. There's no way the kit manufacturers can keep up. This year they have new noses without the "splitter". I'll pick up a couple of these to update my collection, removing the wing and fashioning a spoiler shouldn't be difficult.
  4. Revell-o-gram did a late '80's Ford F350 dually, out of production now. You could possibly find it on ebay?
  5. Maybe this isn't the right forum, but did anyone kit a Chaparral 2D or 2E other than the Fisher Models $125.00 one? I'd like to build one but that's a little too rich for my budget.
  6. Thanks for all the kind words! It makes all the 'swearing' I did during construction worth it. Sorry prowler, I've got plans for the 6 banger.
  7. I combined 4 kits. The truck is AMT's 60 Chevy p/u with the back half of the frame from the Monogram Ford F-350 dually grafted on. The engine is a 348/409 W block from the AMT 62 Belair as I didn't think the 6 cylinder would be up to the task. The 'camper special' is Model King's reissue. I made considerable mods to the frame, and scratched a single exhaust system. I'm pretty happy with the way it turned out except for the fit of the roof, it's slightly warped, so I display it open to show off the interior. Please let me know what you think. This is my first post with pics, I hope they come out OK.
  8. I'm with ya! I love the big iron from the '50-60's. Where did you ever find a '64 Grand Prix? That's the car I learned to drive in (my mother's, red w/black interior, 326 small block). Dad went to the local Pontiac dealer in '64 intending to get the "new" GTO, but mom talked him into a family car. Grandpa worked at Frigidaire (owned by GM) and got the employee discount, so there were always full-size Impalas in the driveway. Love 'em. These are great looking builds.
  9. I have to agree, it's a very challenging kit and the instructions are terrible. I've been working on one off-and-on for a couple of months. But I love the subject, so I'm plugging along.
  10. Let me start by saying I love the site. I surf the forum regularly and have picked up many tips and ideas. I'm interested in subscribing to the magazine, but have not been able to find any information about rates, etc. I find it odd (but refreshing) that there are not banners, flashing lights, screaming trumpets, etc. wanting me to BUY BUY BUY! I'd like to, but how? I'm not that computer literate, so maybe I'm missing something obvious. Could you tell me how to get subscription info? Thanks
