  1. I'll try and get time to clean it up this week, working on the interior and suspension, also trying to catch up with the Merc now I've got the body sorted. Don
  2. Hey Stu, got the Merc sorted, my confusion was the one part wasn't identified, and I got a bit confused - it's an age thing.๐Ÿ™„duh!
  3. Thanks Stu, yep I intend to do the panel lines, right now I am having another problem, this time with the Merc, no not the floor that's done. Wanted to finish the body, went to install the grille and guess what, the instructions say, install #68 front roll pan, #68 roll pan is nothing like the illustration, looks like another mod coming with the Merc. The front roll pan as shown for the stock and drag doesn't have an ID number on the instruction sheet and is not on any tree. I can't win mate. ๐Ÿ˜ก Oh, no clear coat on the Chev, was going to ask you about that, whether to do it? don
  4. Okay, so, I did the repair and it turned out pretty good, not perfect, but this not a show car so I'm fairly happy with the result. I still have some clean up to finish it, (the body), but for now it's back in the box and finish with the build. What do you think Stu? I'm really surprised at how good the polishing brings up the metallic paint Don
  5. I have to admit I like small nippy fast cars, guess it reflects on the era I was brought up in. Big American cars were almost non existing in Oz, actually cars generally were in short supply, recovering from WW2. My dad somehow found a '32 that my mum and myself used to push start every morning - in Melbourne winters, those 6 volt systems were pretty poor to say the least. Now you know why I picked it to restart my modelling and kicked in some memories. As a apprentice mechanic, with little money, my first car was an Austin 7, all my "wealthy" mates were driving MG's, Austin Healy's etc where you guys were driving Fords, Pontiac's and the like. We just got to dream about them and hot rods. Don
  6. Thanks Les, that purple one is WOW, don't think my airbrush skills are quite up to that, the last one, gunmetal is beautiful too. Have you built one of these, the body is a real challenge - well for me that is. Don
  7. I'm at the point of having to choose the body color on the BMW. I was going to go with semi gloss black, but after doing the spoon test I'm not sure, it just doesn't grab me, doesn't look how I thought it would. Failing this, I thought a steel blue gloss. Opinions please. Don
  8. Had a little bit of an idea Bill - from "wagen" thanks
  9. Yep, I found it and still available Bill, so it should arrive in about a week. So now I'll be able to check it out and form my own opinion. Don
  10. Sorry Gary, I have to ask, what is a Gelandewagen Don
  11. Thanks Bill, if the guy hasn't sold it, I might give it a go. Don
  12. Thanks Bill, good to get the opinion of a experienced model builder. Don
  13. Sorry Peter, but I don't recall you mentioning anything like that, but then again, my memory isn't as flash as it used to be. The reason for my question is because I have been offered the Ferrari kit, and as I have never had a Italeri kit or actually heard on them, and as there are a fair amount of not so good kits in the market place, I figured the guys here would know if I was about to purchase a "lemon" , and if I can't ask that question here on the forum, so as not to waste my money, I might as well not be here. Don
  14. Hello Sid. I'm looking at their Ferrari 348TS Spyder. Couldn't find any good/bad info, so thought I ask you guys. Don
  15. I haven't bought one of their kits, so I went on the 'net and read a few "opinions" of their kits. Can I get a few opinions from you guys on what you think - good/bad. Thanks Don
  16. I've been playing/spraying with my backup airbrush while my Talon was away getting repaired, it just came back, so tomorrow I'll do some practice/tests with it and see how I progress. hope to have the styrene tomorrow for the floor repair. That looks pretty nice for a rattle can. Not a tub?
  17. Thanks Stu. I've never tried spraying the interiors with a rattle can, it seems to come out with a rush. I not very experienced with an airbrush, but that's what i normally attempt to do. I think I should just cheat and tint the windows LOL
  18. Hey Stu, how can I paint the interior, when I've repaired it, I cleaned all the previous paint from it which looked like a dog's breakfast, bad to start with, and even worse after the storm got to it, found it in the garden. I'd like to spray it, but can't work out how, it's such a small area, but I hate using a brush I can never get a good finish. I've watched stuff on Youtube but still can't get a good finish. Any clues? Thanks Don
  19. Thanks Stu, hopefully that will serve both purposes. Unfortunately, I'm grounded at the moment, my car is in the shop, and my wife is at her Mum's, she is her carer, so I'll have to do it on line, shouldn't be a problem though, just a delay. Patience Don patience.
  20. Thanks John, I'll check it out Don
  21. John, thanks mate, I'll give it a shot. Never done anything like that, but I'll give it a go. I mean what can go wrong๐Ÿ™„๐Ÿ˜„.Damn, I was on the home straight with this. Thanks Stu, think I must have run over a black cat or something, the luck I've been having lately. I can get some styrene sheet hopefully tomorrow. Is there a recommended thickness I should get if I go with John's suggestion. Also can you tell me what thickness styrene strip I should get, I've got a NSX body with a small crack near the hatch I have to fix. Thanks, guys, for your help Don
  22. Big problem with the Mercury. Got to the interior today and there is a big chunk of the front floor with a hole in it. I noticed it before this, but assumed (incorrectly) that it would all work out once zi started to put it together, WRONG. At first I thought that was how it was supposed to be, something to do with how the trans would fit, that didn't feel right, and after some checking.............I was right, it isn't right. Pics tell the story. Contacted the seller, (I bought it on eBay), not that it will do me any good. Don Not too sure what to do with this now.
  23. Mate I use all three of Tamiya Polishing compounds. Coarse, Fine, Finish, and they seem to work for me. Don
  24. That's impressive engineering.
