1. It doesn't seem like a whole heck of a lot of progress on the B/M Nova lately. I've been working on the engine/underhood details mostly. I scratchbuilt some Super Bite traction bars and set my stance too. I have decided on the wheels and tires from the 66 Penske Vette, but now I'm torn between redlines or Bluelines with white lettering. Any opinions on this, or anything else, feel free to speak your mind. Here's what I have so far. Getting this one sprayed has been robbing a lot of my time the last week and a half or so. It's getting built as a curbside in Factory Olympic Gold with a black interior, I really like these wheels and tires, but it's going to get the kit supplied rally's in the end. Adios.
2. Real nice build there, I haven't even picked this kit up yet. I'm thinking this might have been shot at Le Mans. You know it's a helluva grueling race if you can be 26 laps behind the leader and still come in 6th.......now THAT is racing. Here's the same car about 3 years ago.......
3. Scalemotorcars on ebay used to have lots of cool 1/8 scale stuff, I really wanted their Ardun head/SCOT blower package but I didn't have the $$$, I believe they used to offer a coupe body too but they don't have any resin on ebay right now. Maybe if you emailed them........................ Here's their website http://www.scalemotorcars.com/
4. Oh Yeah, forgot to say, Wayne that dodge gullwing is killer!!!
5. lookin good...........What are your plans for color?
6. Thanks Jeff..Yeah I have been checking ebay, off and on for about a year, and it seems like when I see a good price, I don't have any $$$$ for plastic. I'll get one someday though, patience Danielson......
7. Here's the only one I have Finished, well, not actually finished, but close. It's got four bucket seats and lots of green flocking, but it's almost impossible to see inside through the windows. I named it "Toadstool" and still need to get it lettered up. And I also need to add either a stinger pipe or some zoomies. I'm also looking for a 69-74 Ford van, the 1/20 scale kit. I used to have a 1/1 74 and I would have to say they are my favorite van of all time
8. Awesome so far Lyle!!! I like the looks of the L-88 scoop on there, you don't see it very often. The engine looks good too, there is something about a BB with those valvecovers and those T-handle holddowns and wires really set them off.
9. I don't think I ever sculpted with filler glaze, but I have molded parts with it, and I've definitely carved it after it sets up. It comes in handy quite often. Sculpey is more like clay than play-doh. A few guys in our club use it to make items for our diorama's. They make some pretty detailed stuff with it, and use it to modify figures too. It does have to be baked to harden, but I don't remember the temp.
10. Just a quick update. Got the body polished out, no wetsanding on this one, just a rag and Wizards polish. I do like this one coat clear!! I also got the vinyl top sprayed, and the body foiled, and besides painting the headliner, that pretty much finishes the body until I get closer to final assembly. Here it's taped up before top spray. I turned the gas tank around, narrowed the rearend to fit the big meats, and got the chassis pan all painted up . I'll paint the front and rear suspensions, and figure out my traction bars and headers. Then I can finish the engine, and I think I need to add a little wiring under the hood too. Thanks for stoppin' by
11. I would have installed the receptacle for the GT-40 alone, ain't neighbors great?
12. 69 Baldwin Motion Nova- in paint, 69 Nova SS curbside stock-ready for paint, a Big T that's prepped and ready for paint, and I'm kinda sorta thinking about maybe starting on my Pinto cruising wagon kit. I just finished a 75 Mach I and now this Pinto is really calling to me. Hey 62SS...Let's see that AMX.....
13. Finally finished this "quick" build. Took three paint and two stripping sessions to get there, I'm convinced this thing is possessed. Not much more to say except I like the looks of it and it's done. Here's a link to my cut short WIP. http://www.modelcarsmag.com/forums/index.p...p;hl=novadose71
14. HAHAHA I was thinking it was PSF......................
15. Absolutely beautiful build!!!!!!!!!!!!
16. Love the color on your Nova, can you say sleeper? BTW What wheels did you use on it? The Ford looks good too.
17. One of the few new cars that does anything for me. I'll take one too.
18. Thanks for the wheel idea's Stump, the more options the better. I've got those nice (Rocket?)wheels on my 70 Torino CJ and the Mickey T's on my 73 Javelin. I have one more 70 B/M Camaro( a great donor kit BTW) and I want to resin cast the tires before I build it, and the wheels are a bit too chrome for the look I'm after, the American's on it now will get a shot of Dullcoat if I keep them on.. I'm also trying to track down a Fast and Furious 70 charger diecast to see if the daisy's from it will work on this Nova. BTW My wife had the morning off , so I didn't get the vinyl top sprayed today, or my other project finished, but I started polishing the hood and it's lookin pretty good with minimal effort. Thanks for stoppin'
19. Finally got some paint on this thing. Testors Fathom Green lacquer, with 2 coats of their one coat lacquer clear, the stuff lays down pretty good, we'll see how it polishes out in the next couple days. I narrowed down my wheel choices to the 32 Sedan or 66 Penske Vette wheels, unless I get my hands on some daisy wheels. I hope to get the vinyl top sprayed in the morning........and finish another project that is taking up way too much of my build time, then I can really get cranking on this.
20. OH yeah, I forgot about those!
21. Beautiful job on your charger, one of my favorite build styles....right off the showroom floor. I used to ride to high school every day with a friend in his 73 Charger SE, built 360, the slapstick shifter was very cool, red with a white landau(?) top, houndstooth(?) interior with a factory slide back moon roof, air shocks and he musta had 10 inch wide Cragars on the back. That was a cool car. Guess you sparked a memory, thanks.
22. OMHO They have definitely changed their sound(on this song at least), It's crunchier and more structured, not as frantic as I like to hear from Slipknot, and they brought some of the Stone Sour sound over too. I'll have to pick up the new CD soon, I have all the rest back to Mate,Feed,Kill, Repeat. Great stuff(not the foam in a can either ). Don't get me wrong it's a good song and video, just different from what I was expecting.
23. Found a bunch of pics of some older builds today. Here's one of my favorites, from 9-10 years ago, Revellogram 427 cobra. Let's see if I can remember all I did to this one. I scratch built the windshield, lower frame with a strip of brass bent at down the middle and stretched on one side to meet the curve of the cowl, took a few tries to get right and "glass"from a blister pack. I wasn't happy with the kit supplied exhaust tips, so I cut them off, drilled into the muffler part and made new ones from K&S aluminum tube. I foil cast all the emblems, paint detailed them, and put a heaping coat of testors clear over them before gluing them on. I mixed a few different colors into Model Master Arctic Blue. It's one of the first 3 bodies I painted through my airbrush, and it layed out just like it is now, no clear, just waxed it to add gloss. I haven't been able to spray anything as nice since . While trying to apply them, I ended up destroying some of the kit stripe decals, so I salvaged what I could, and came up with a scheme, and for whatever reason I added the chrome tape stripes on either side of them and it's the only thing I don't like about it besides the yellowing epoxy on the gauges. Other than that I think it's pretty much OOB. Thanks for stoppin'
24. Glad to hear you got what you was lookin for.....enjoy.
