  1. Finished this one this week. Willie Borsch and the Wildman Charger. Car ran a big block Chevy engine, instead of the usual Chrysler hemi. (Later changed to the 392 old style hemi) Original Revell Chi-Town Hustler Charger kit, Slixx decals, Comp Resin wheels/tires Hondo
  2. Thanks, Gonzo..........I try to make 'em right !! Harry, racing just ain't as fun as it once was. Hondo
  3. Great work on this one, Sean. The Slixx decals are great ! Jim
  4. Thanks guys for the nice words. Wayne, you are one of my inspirations to do my best on my funny cars. Dave, 1st priority to my funny cars is......."they gotta sit right". Hondo
  5. Bruce, My preference for the inside of a funny car body is a medium to dark gray spray color. I paint that first when doing a body. I mostly do the '70ish cars and that color range is close to what they were then. Today's cars are different colors, sometimes matching closer to the body color or a carbon fiber color. On my Blue Max I used Model Master's Panzer Gray. Hope it helps. Hondo
  6. Just finished the Model King Challenger funny car. (Raced by the Beebe Brothers in 1970, Dave Beebe driver) Made some modifications to the interior tin, the chassis and front end. Used the great Slixx decals and Boyd's paints. Hondo
  7. Blue Max funny car, 1972 version Harry Schmidt owner, Richard Tharp driver Revell body & interior, 1320 chassis, Valspar paint and great Slixx decals. Hondo
  8. Looks really nice, Bub. I'm sure Ronnie (Mr. 4 speed) Sox would have approved of it !! Hondo
  9. Hey Doolin, It's good to see your works of art.......as always. I always liked that red the Wood Bros. used on their cars. Hondo
  10. TxRat, I think it was Krylon Gold spray with flat over it on the rear wheels. The front is Testor's copper and aluminum brushed on. Bainford, Yes, those are the Fred Cady decals. Plus a few I added to make it the scheme you see here. Walter, The chute cord is from a fabric store. One dollar pack will last forever. Cool version there too. Thanks for the comments, Jim
  11. Len, I take that as a compliment about my Ramchargers car.........THANKS !! I'm sure you'll do great on yours. I do like the way it turned out. I was fortunate to find a good set of decals for it last year. As for MY Model King Challenger......Slow going on the chassis, didn't like the color of it, stripped it down and will redo it. The body is done. I'll post pix of the new one soon. Hondo
  12. Thanks everyone for the comments. Yep, Charlie.........Too bad the younger guys here couldn't enjoy drag racing "back then". It was a whole different deal. Imagine 64 (qualified) funny car fields ??? Man, those were the GOOD ol' days. Hondo
  13. This kit is an old Jo-Han Gene Snow Rambunctious Challenger funny car kit. I built it years ago as the Ramchargers funny car and recently "redid"" it. First funny car in the 6 second zone...........Leroy Goldstein, driver. Hondo
  14. Len, I had my doubts about this one, because I never was a big MPC fan............... But, they have reworked a lot of this body and it's actually not too bad. When you mount the front axle, make sure it mounts straight up, not leaning backward or forward. I saw a couple built ones and the front wheel didn't center up in the opening. Also, had to trim the interior tin a bit to get the body/tin to sit down on the frame. I like this kit now and will probably get another one. Hondo
