Thanks for the positive support everyone. (I'm my own harshest critic) This will be a "body down" car in the case, so I just cleaned up and addressed a few things on the chassis. This was a very successful car for Jim Dunn "back in '71". The original photo was (I believe) at the Bakersfield March Meet where he won the FC class in 1971. Rick, I think you are correct on the red gelcoat color for this one. There were several FC bodies done like that in the early '70s. Kinda like a boat is made I guess. Saved painting... The color I used was Valspar Basic Colors "Berry Red" spray from Lowe's. Then Testor's gloss clear over that and the decals. This is the same car built in the '70s, BS........(Before Slixx & hand lettered) Thanks guys........ Hondo

Jody, you probably looked here......... I'd guess. http://www.junglepam.com/jj-photos.html I'll see what I can find in my old magazines. Hondo -
From an original Monogram "Snake" 1/24 kit. Slixx decals, Valspar paint and Comp Resin front wheels/tires. Freshened it up from the original build. Not my best ever one. Hondo

I hope this comes to be............... I'll buy my share !! Hondo -
That's awesome, Dave. Very nice work. The spoiler sets it off. On the original, they cut up an old sign they found to make it. Hondo

Steve, I rebuilt this JoHan "Rambunctious" Challenger a couple years ago. Not the kit decals or front wheels. I don't remember any problems with the chassis. Johan funny car kits were very good ones to build. Hondo

Thanks everyone ! The pictures don't do the green on the car justice..... Sorry. Hondo

From the 1983 racing season. This is the Al Segrini driven "Super Brut" Firebird. It is a late Revell chassis & engine. Body, wheels & tires are from Competition Resin. Hondo

I'll have to decide which funny car to enter in the contest. I have a few ideas....... I thought about using the American 5 spokes on the front of my BS Vega. Decided on the Comp Resin "Cragar SuperTricks" that they ran on the later version. Let me know if you need any reference pix on the BS car. Thanks for noticing the stand, I make mine, depending on the length needed. Hondo

JT, That's flat outstanding......... Great photos also. Looks very real. Impressive work !! Hondo -
Thanks, CH....... Some great tracks around the SoCal area back then. Glad you like this one. The funny cars from this era were the best, IMO. Stay tuned for more.............. Hondo

KK09, It is the 1/25 scale. Hondo

That's a neat rig. The tinted windows like right for the period. If that is the "Racer's Wedge", you did good converting it to a single axle. Hondo
-
Way cool....... Nice work on the Deora, Tony Nancy always had nice "stuff". Hondo

Thanks guys....... gseeds, That would've been cool to have a piece of the BS Vega. Too bad Mom tossed it. Foster was probably my favorite driver too. He was fast..... At the "Last Drag Race" at Lions in Dec. 1972 (McEwen won over Prudhomme), Foster was the No. 1 qualifier, but crashed off the end of the track on that run when the chutes came off the car. He didn't race due to the damage. IIRC...... But, he was fast a lot and blew up a lot too........... Hondo

Barry Setzer owner, Pat Foster driver. 1972 version. Body from the Revell Pisano & Matsubara Vega kit. Chassis from the Revell Don Schumacher Vega kit. Candy red over gold paint, Slixx decals. Hondo

Looks killer, David. I'm sure "Big" is gonna love it. Be sure you get some pictures of him with it. Remember....... Don't ask him about the aliens !! Great job ! Hondo
