A small part of my collection of mostly earlier funny cars......... http://public.fotki.com/434499/drag-racing/funny-car-reference/

He sent me a catalog a few months back. I haven't been able to get anything from him yet, but will. I know a couple guys that have ordered from him, with no problems. Has some cool bodies and other items. Seems like a good guy to me. UPDATE: I talked to the owner, Larry Baisch at length about 3 weeks ago. Very nice guy with lots of info. He is working to get a website up and running, but stays pretty busy with casting his parts. The guys I know that have dealt with him are happy with his products and service.

That's really nice, OC. Beautiful roadster. I know it's special to you !! Did you make the decals?

Excellent topic, Shane. The Surfers were an awesome team for that period in the early top fuel (AA/FD) days. They tried new things that worked and that car would fly. Plus, Mike Sorokin was probably close to the best driver in that era. That's great that Tom Jobe has been helpful to you as well. The recreation (by Pat Foster, RIP) is an amazing piece too. Good luck with this one...... I'll be watching !

Good point, Ken. The old photos do make the shades change due to light and age. The old car and new car are two different shades of red though. Bodies were sometimes replaced a few times a season, plus this CTH chassis was raced about 2 years. I'm going by my love of older funny car history and seeing it in person back then. On the Slixx decal set, there are different decals for the grill for the different configurations. Plus they used M&H tires and then Goodyears also before there were "tire contracts." It's a model car & a hobby........ Build it like you want and have fun.

Good points so far by everyone..... Especially, don't slam Revell for this kit. It's better than nothing at the hobby shop. The differences can easily be corrected, depending on which version you build. You younger guys never had the thrill of seeing the F C & M original do their 1/4 mile burnouts...... It was awesome !! Even Jungle Jim drove this car a time or two. A couple things: This offset driver chassis was unique to this car. Not on any others, IIRC. I don't see myself buying "a lot" of these for that reason. Now the upcoming Hawaiian Charger, yes. It will have the normal Logghe style chassis. Can be used with other bodies. Also, I do not remember the original CTH having metallic paint, just plain red. Thanks Revell for bringing back some early model funny cars. (If anyone needs pics of the original CTH or any other funny cars, PM with your email)

Great to hear this about these kits. I'm excited that Revell has come out with these, the '68 Dodge Dart and all the new earlier year funny cars. As usual, I don't have any more time to build, but I'm sure I'll be buying more kits. I think we should all email or write Revell a big THANK YOU note....... (And drop a few hints while we do it) Thanks Revell !!! Also, welcome ... Genuine Jack.

Actually, in "American Nitro" the Snake & Mongoose are very much in there. By then (mid '70s) the Dodge ramp trucks had been replaced by the dually pick-ups and enclosed trailers.

Thanks everyone. Always wanted to do this one. Need to get it finished now. KiwiMike....... it's a Comp Resins Arrow body. Aaron, Wayne, Dave....... thanks, hope all's well.

"Lil" John Lombardo " Spider" Camaro F/C

That's awesome, John. Don't see that one done much. I enjoy seeing your detail, very nice. -
Started on this one months ago. Finally got the yellow and decals on it. Tamiya paint, Slixx (of course) decals. Word to the wise...... when clearing decals with (Tamiya) lacquer, be sure to add light coats, one at a time. I got it too heavy and it melted a couple decals. (Debating on doing this one over) Don't know when I'll get this one finished, but thought I'd share.

Aaron, again that is "off the chart"........ Cool photo of "da Shoe" with it. Nice work !!

Wasn't going to say anything Brett because you did a great job on it, but, YES, it was a rear engine car.

Farrrr outttttt !! Excellent, Charlie

Very cool, Shane. Nice work as usual........ -
Awesome on them all........
-
Very nice on them both, Wayne. Wouldn't expect anything less. Looks like we'll be "older & grayer" before Revell ever releases the new (older) versions.
-
Another great "new" one, Wolfie. Good luck on the restoration........

Thanks, Bob & Dave glad you like it. How you been DZ?

Nice work on this one. Thanks for doing the article, good info for the future.

Haven't posted anything lately. Been too busy with work the last year. Built this a few months ago. Chassis from "The Old Fox" kit, reworked old body & hood I had in the pile. My air cleaner. PPP tires, yellow and red paint from Lowe's.

FCS is a pretty good one. You might also check out "American Nitro". Great '70s funny car stuff. It's an original from the late '70s and has been "redone" digitally. Availible from American Nitro.com. It's definitely worth it......... Hondo
