  1. So Airflowish, but it looks like it has a Plymouth Hood ornament. I'd say a Toyota AA from 1936. They were large 6 bangers, 3 1/2litre or thereabouts. Or is it the replica that Toyota did for an anniversary in the late 80's (actually it has to be). I don't know what they did for a motor in the replica, I'll guess the rotisserie drive from a charmglow.
  2. They had two hours of "live" (actually a 3 hour delay) coverage of the Mars-Phoenix landing on the red planet.
  3. I was able to catch all five of the races Sunday and the Mars thing, I'm so exhausted! These are from the archives. The '49 and '50 are Dad's, the '72 is mine. I lost my stub from '73 years ago.
  4. NOOOO!! Not another one! First Pluto, now Mercury, geez.
  5. I thought the T-1000 was that second generation of Terminator, although it did have an advanced run-flat technology, it didn't have wheels so it's not usually included in car categories
  6. Score one for the Brits! And insanity prevailed. Thanks Speed, if NASCAR dollars let you bring me Monaco Mayhem, I'll live with it. And probably watch more History Channel.
  7. I'm willing to bet that's the first appearance of the word "bedazzled" on this site!
  8. But wait, there's more . . . ( Craig Singhaus, get it?) It is about ratings, it's ALL about ratings. The ONLY reason anything is on TV at all is that it turns a profit. There aren't any shows that are aired simply because they are a good idea. They will throw anything up there that makes us watch the commercials. If version A drew ten thousand viewers but version B drew ten thousand and four, guess which direction that's going to go. After that it's survival of the fittest. There is a cockroach analogy in there somewhere.
  9. Monoco is on this weekend. Truly one of the most insane events in motorsports. I'm not a huge F1 fan but this is one race I've always followed. NASCAR? I think the road course races are pretty fun, those tracks just weren't designed with cars that size in mind. It also seems a bit nutty. Other than that, they lost me about 1970. I grew up near the Mid-Ohio race course, I still prefer a good SCCA event, the Eloy(Arizona) Grand Prix used to be a blast. I was also close to several drag strips, that's really where my allegiance lies. The historic road race here is great. I like SPEED, some of the personalities are irritating but I watch a lot of it. Barry McGuire certainly is one of the most die-hard car guys, but I think he's a really crappy interviewer. I've always had a deep-seated fear of handlebar mustaches and quite giving Don Garlits a mic! He tries to pull way to much stuff from a memory that must be as bad as mine. He did ten minutes on a sweet Cameo P'up, referring to it throughout as an "El Cameo". Most of the shows still seem a tad low-budget. That may be a good thing. I've got it on right now. Reality shows? Give me a break. Build or Bust was good but I think they had pretty much done it all and the chopper craze finally has settled a bit. OCC became irritating pretty quick but it didn't go away. As far as who airs what, that is part bidding war, part packaging. OOh, David Coulthard just hit the wall coming out of the tunnel!
  10. I had a C4 in my Ranchero
  11. I do high-end signage, graphic design and public art. I've been doing that for about 25 years and have stuff hanging worldwide. If you ever want to spend way more than you thought possible on your public face, give me a call! Master of the Universe in my spare time
  12. This is the only photo of a Duesenberg-Derham Town Car that I could find. This one is a '29 There were more Toursters and such. Being that this is also a straight on side shot, I wonder if it might be the same as yours. Maybe a factory pic.
  13. um, that would make it harder for us to get it though , wouldn't it? With my first one, the name was written on the photo and nobody noticed. I took it as honesty, like not reading the answers that are printed right under the car themed crossword in our Saturday paper.
  14. Could you pop in that pic or give a year. I have 7 or 8 references from Automobile Quarterly of Derham/ Duesenberg cars, all in different issues.
  15. That's a coincidence, mine is a Singer too. It's a '52 4AD Roadster, in Jamaica, driven by Katherine Hepburn.
  16. I was gonna say fiberfab but I thought it was a valkyrie. For some reason I didn't think it was a kit car enough to commit. In afterthought it's pretty obvious. Now hows about mine?
  17. OK, tell me what the wedgie thing is (we called 'em melvins when I was a kid) and I'll tell you what the TD lookalike is.
  18. NickF40, I forgot about that one. Is it a Skoda? Is the last race car an Essex? Like a '30?
  19. or it could be a '55 Kieft 1100 Speedster
  20. is it the red firehose thing? I guess the guys in Coventry could make anything fast. The little roadster in my post does have that british look. The maker was an arch-rival of MG on the track a few decades earlier.
  21. it's neither a Morgan nor an MG. Different angle
  22. The performance icon, automotive apogee and general chick magnet that could only be the 1992 Nissan Stanza. But, for ten years it was this. I want another one.
