It's not a Fiat. And it's Jamaica.

Yup, that's Kate, but it's not a British Bantam and it's not a '34

Submit Your Helpful Hints, Tips, and Tricks to MCM

Good grief, where do you start? Here's a short one that didn't occur to me for years. BMF the exposed contact surface of blower pulleys instead of trying to paint that area. It's a lot easier even if it's a cogged pulley. -
I would guess that they were raw sheetmetal and fiberglass. Or did they actually start as the pre-war cars that they appear to be? And what the hell is that red british car? I'm usually pretty good with those (father's influence) but this one is just making me mad. I should be able to peg it, but I can't. I'm jumping the gun here, or maybe not since I stumped you guys, but I've been dyin' to post this one. Extra credit for driver ID.

How's everyones gas prices?
samdiego replied to forthlin's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Been over $4 here at the pricier stations (the ones near the freeway exits) for a while now. Not as high as in Yosemite, but way too high. Filling my car doubles it's value -
I'm not thinkin' that's the ad copy that Doyle, Dane and Burnbach originally wrote for that one, although it does have it's selling points.

I get the strangest stuff sent to me....
samdiego replied to CAL's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
I haven't golfed since they told me I couldn't use my baseball bat. I have chipped a few chariot models from limestone with Imhotep, however. Respect for the elders I have by the truckload. Parental and occupational influences have ingrained that. And the fact that I never grew taller than my Dad, the GY SGT, Veteran of three wars, who could probably still kick my ass at 86! And he's still a car nut! All in fun mi amigos -

Yeah, I was hopin' for some sort of witty reply, a rapier-like comeback cutting me to the quick, you know, the standard verbal abuse. Maybe I touched a nerve, maybe you all don't realize that I was there for the R&D before the patent on dirt was filed! -
Yeah, but you still missed the X-wing. Boy, you sure don't get this kind of drama on the HotWheels forums. Those MGs, They're all Midgets except for the blue one. That's a B.

Oh, Man! You geezers are as old as dirt! -
The X-wing was called an Incom T-65. I was going to say 1966 Hi-Po 289

Let me leave an easy one as a peace offering, make and model

Since it's killing George . . . And Bob did get the year even though the ad is for '26. Now that is ad copy writing! It actually says Moon in Grandmother's handwriting in the lower right corner of the photo and that this was Gramps first brand New Car.
-
To The Hopi Tribe of Native Americans this was a sacred symbol of Sun and Earth. The rays are symbolic of the spiritual journey, moving out in the four directions, the right angles represent the physical migration of the Hopi people.

You've pegged the year, Bob, although this manufacturer wasn't one to change yearly, stylwise.

I've cut down the retractor in 4 ballpoint pens and mounted them where the coil springs go to make a positionable ride height. Pushing on the hood and trunk to click the pen innards. I could go low all around, rake to the front, rake to the back, or high all around. Anything is fair game when it comes to things that can be pressed into model duty. Once you get into that mindset, it's easy. The only drawback is the amount of stuff that I can't bear to throw away.

Nope. How long do I do this before I cave and tell all? Blurry? Hey, you're not supposed to blow the photo up to read the rad emblem. One hint, it is American. Pops was a patriot. Anyway, was I right on the 250 GTO replica?
-
Nope, but you are recognizing the same cues that helped sell this car when it was new.
-
Since you are going to have to hand cut the print anyway, a scan to print from a good photo would probably work.

Wowzers! What a find. I can't imagine that a company anywhere on the planet would have thought that was a good idea given the time frame evidenced by the tires. No wonder it's a rare one. The pix on the side are of different kits in the same line?
-
Isn't that either an Alpha or a McBernie Coachcraft kit? A front clip replaces the Z front end and the rest bonds to the existing. The one real departure is the remaining hatch. I love those, a small block Chevy would really make it interesting. I remember reading about those in Kit Car mag about '90 or so. I've seen 1 Mcbernie here in San Diego completed and 1 Alpha in Tucson that I doubt ever got finished. This was my grandparents car, that's my Dad standing up on the passenger side. Waddya think it is?

Testors One Coat will soon offer a line of candies and pearls. if they act like their first releases, this may be the easiest way to go.

HOK enamels - need other reducer options for airbrushing
samdiego replied to Monty's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
HOK is making a push to the Hobby Shops to make up for the Wally's loss. Some of the shops here carry it now. I talked to their customer service about what the paint is. The rep would only say that it is neither a laquer nor enamel. I suspect a urathane base. They were able to provide a list of retailers that are or will carry the line. Try hobby101.com. -
