Without trying to come off as some KNOW- IT - All, uh Clark was one of those "Regional " oil companies in Ohio, Michigan , Wiscionsin and a piece of Illinois . They sold Premium gasoline up until about 1989. They Like Billups and Rose were simply Gas- N- Oil stops . They heavily promoted Bulk oil sales via 1 and 2 gallon rectangular cans and Chinia ware with a Gasoline fill- up of 8 gallons . I'm collecting what I have stored away for tom right now . Hopefully, what I have will enable him to do an accurate Clark station ....... Ed Shaver

Phone rings while I have muh hands full or holding something together . Generally someone trying to sell me something . Ed Shaver -
James, I remember seeing some die cast busses avalible through Stevens International . I seem to recall they were about 1-32 scale too. The price was kind of high as they were reported to have been made in Europe . Check a Hobby retailer as Stevens only sells to retailers . Meanwhile , there is the Revell Germany Mann bus , it's only 150.00 !Ed Shaver

Jim, it's too bad those two aren't readily avalible today. Both turned out nice . I remember Dennis Doty lamenting in Collectable Automobile magazine that the interior bucket was swapped in latter Re-issues of the Chrysler 300. I know for a fact that the origional annuals had four Bucket seats . The re-issues of 1987 had a rear Bench and the engine wasn't very correct either . Ed Shaver

Brandon, to answer the question as fairly and as accurately as possible , as long as it takes . For example , The Shell station I did the model of took TWO Years just for the Shell shaped building . Why so long ya ask ? Simple , I spent that amount of time on it cause I couldn't get the top like it should have looked . Now note the fact that you can't see a rear attached building . I had to guess at those details . Still, I corrected the rear building AFTER it was premiered at a N N L show in Winston Salem North carolinia where the actual building was erected in 1930. two years later , In Fredricksburg Virginia , the building was shown with a corrected sign , and a corrected rear shed attachment . Now in addition, I spent another two years on and off the phone both to Quality Oil who once erected the building I did the model of and to the North Carolina Historical Society . That adds up to about six years totaljust for one diorama do be done accurately . Ed Shaver

Why Do We Build Models???
Eshaver replied to Romell R's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Rommel, you ask why I build models ? Well, for starters back in 1961, I could visualize a real car out of a plastic kit . Today, it's much diferent . Look , here in Richmond Virginia , people here care only about "Certain histories " . O K , I'm related to Jeferson Davis , President of the Confederate Stares . Now to some , well most , thats a bigg deal . Hey, it happened . Still, it's not my bag , cars are , will be . Now my real hobby is Old Service stations . I grew up working in them . I went and took a college management course sponsored by Shell to own one too. Hey, it was only six weeks . Service stations to me are a glimpse of "Real America " . Guys comming home from W W II went into becomming dealers as the war effort ended . Guys who wanted to be mechanics worked as grease jockeys and tire changers at them . Men who dreamed of becomming the next Fireball Roberts pieced together Amature racers between customers wanting directions into the next metropolitan city. I myself learned how to use body lead as the Shell station I worked at did some body work on totaled wrecks at least until Shell represenatives Kiboshed the whole deal . I learned how to drive a wrecker there too. You look around Richmond Va.. today . Hey, we're restoring parks , rebuilding some ole shack George Washington MAY have slept in ......... but restore a service station ..... Herasy !!!!!!!!!! hey, Ive already been told I'm from a distant planet by a couple of television reporters for doing these as models . Do I care , certainly not . Will anyone care twenty years down the road ??????????? Ed Shaver -
Great Chevrolet Van sir ! Now wheres the nearest truck - In this week end ?????? I wanna rock an roll !!!!!!!!! Ed Shaver

Re-release of the 1950 chevy P/U
Eshaver replied to mnwildpunk's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
Trying to answer all questions , uh yes Ed , it's the 1950 deluxe cab version of the 3100 truck . And In dropping an axle on a Chevrolet , easy. one way is to re arch the Spring perches and take out some material. Another is to heat the front axle and add some Plastruct "I" Beam material so you can deepen the axle at either corner . Uh take a look at the A M T 55 Chevrolet Cameo truck front axle for a good example of what a dropped axle would look like . Ed Shaver -
I'm with David on this . This diorama is way to kwell for this board. Ask Ken Hamilton what I mean ........ Ed Shaver

Tony , on a roof panel, watch using Foam Core . If you need to use a lot of Glue , it seems to make a large Foam Core panel warp , BIG TIME ! I prefer to use a 1/8th inch piece of Berch Plywood as it's dimensionally stable and it dosent warp as much . Ed Shaver
