  1. I scratchbuilt one for a member here several years back ......................Ed Shaver
  2. Ian, I come from a family of "Runners ". Shoot , Cadillacs in 50 Studebakers , Chryslers in Fords , etc . I knew a feller here in town that had a 40 model Plymouth that ran a Oldsmobile in his . I would run down folks in a city called Franklin Virginia as that is still, the "Moonshine capital of the World ". Just remember to Beef the suspension , add a Oil tank to spread poil over the road , and have a "dump " valve for spilling the load in an emergency ! Ed Shaver
  3. Brian, the diorama looks to be a "Modified " M R C Texaco station . I'm not impressed by it's contents as the building only contains a "Partial " building . Uh No wall on the "Shop side , no rear wall. It's way over priced for what you can easily scratch build . The pumps , well semblences of anyway , are supposed to be Wayne 505's . First, they're a scale foot too tall. secondly the Fishbowl lenses wern't ever used on a 1-1 pump. Meanwhile , if thats not enough to fustrate you into oblivion, there is the "OBSOLETE " lift . Yes , that turkey wasn't used in most shops after 1930. Secondly, getting the pieces off the sprue .............. GOOD LUCK. Hey, if you really need a plan to do a former Service station diorama in 1-25th scale , P- M me and i'll just send the measurements in a manilla envelope to you . Ed Shaver
  4. As for the "Open roadster ", uh Check out Jimmy Flintstones catalouge . Prices are way reasonable and the clean -up isn't too bad . Ed Shaver
  5. Dave , no kiddin, das a fine looooooooookin van !!!!!!!!!! Ed Shaver
  6. A "Bummer " is still a "Bummer " , no matter what ................... Ed Shaver
  7. For someone wanting to build a "Correct " Chevrolet van , make note as to a couple of subtle running changes . First, the dash wouldn't be correct on the Revell kit until 1973. That was so the Air conditioner duct work could be accomodated within the dash. For the darn FEW Chevrolets thjat came down the pike , the A/ C was actually mounted between the seats and on the floor of all palces. Meanwhile , exterior trim was the same for all Chevrolets and G M C's until 1978. Going back to the Dash board for a moment , use the dash from A M T's A-team kit if you're building a 1973-77 Chevrolet - G M C . For doing a 78-on dash, uh you wold have to fabricate a console of sorts as the motor box cover had this plastic affair built on top . Tail lights also changed in 1978 also . Meanwhile a grille change came about about 1980. The molded in Fender flares can be sanded off. Being as this van represents a No Window option or "Base model" one can cut the optional windows in themselves as needed . Ed Shaver
  8. Hey Round - 2, I just happen to have some N O S Econoline trim . Ya need references , pictures , mesurements ......... see , I never left vans, everyone else did ! Ed Shaver
  9. Don't you Old Chrysler restorers , ( Uh Fluid Drive , Gyromatic guys) wish that those transmissions were near as good ? Ed Shaver
  10. Gee, I wonder if these guys do some of the Utes and panel delivery vans I get glimpses of here on occasion ? Ed Shaver
  11. I think you have been studying the I P M S guys . I see strong resemblences in the textures of the meticulous roof tiles , the very realistic flowers , and nicely done cracked stucco plaster . Overall, a very well excicuted project ! Ed Shaver
  12. George , it's take a lot more than jus us to get one ............. Ed Shaver
  13. All the General Motors automobiles from 1959 to 1964 used a version of the "X" frame . Check Monogram's 59 Cadillac to see if you like it . Ed Shaver
  14. A good many came in a Brown metallic finish . Infact , brown was a top selling color for anything out of the " General " for a couple of years .......... The Firebird decals were a Gold or dark Yellow color . Ed Shaver
  15. If the price was right , I would certainly consider buying such a kit ......... Ed Shaver
  16. Eelco, in years past , a company called Product Miniatures actually did a 1953 Plymouth Belvedere sedan . I think Banthrico also did the 52's also . I've been trying to nail down from Jody, ( AKA Smart resins who did the P M C 53 Plymouth wagon in resin I got off him with no luck . I wish i was more help . Ed Shaver
  17. Dave , How about a nice Spring Yellow ? Ed Shaver
  18. Iv'e had good sucess with Photo Bucket . Fotki, uh not so much . Ed Shaver
  19. John, I agree with ya , stock parts are a must cause all vans of the era were sometimes service vehicles too. Shoot, I sold just as many aftermarket pieces to reades people as i did the van shop people in the seventies ............... Ed Shaver
