  1. That looks close to Chrysler Rallye Green maybe? I know it's a Pontiac color, but seems close from memory...
  2. I've built 3 of these and loved each one. Would love to have one of each and was highly disappoiinted that AM never got around to the roadster version as well. I did build one of those for a slot car and Eagle's Race did it in 1/43 diecast. The white over blue car from AM, the blue with white nose, and a Delmo car with VRM decals before the Revell reissuie. The headers and control arms weren't available so had to do the best I could. I have the book as well. My all time favorite race car, especially with all the mystery that surrounded it. To anyone going to build these, the racingicons site is invaluable. Here's a link to a few pictures of mine http://s30.photobucket.com/user/rcarlisle/library/gs vettes - one of the pics shows some vents on the rear window of the Delmo car. Don't remember where I found the shapes or if I made them. But those cars, like so many other handmade race cars of the era, had details that changed from race to race and day to day. Good reference is crucial and now, it is easy to find with the internet, seems like. No excuses...lol Nice work on this build. Will keep following.
  3. It's not a perfect fit. I cut the inner fenders from the 67, worked them into the 66 body carefully. Had to grind the top of trans tunnel out to fit under the 66 interior bucket - i did it unceremoniously - but it's hidden pretty well. Would have loved to use the 67 floor pan for hte 66, but door cards and such would require more work than I felt comfy with. The wheel base and all works out just about perfectly. I may have had to adjust hte rear ride height - can't remember. But it works pretty well. I may have some underside pics on my tablet at home, if I can remember to post them. A lot of test fitting. The mounting flanges on back of rear bumpers puts the 67 chassis right where I wanted it. Front end fit in nicely with the fender wells and all. frame fits snugly into 66 body. The rest is just a matter of working it all out. Randy
  4. Ooops this should have been in "under glass"... got over excited about being able to post again...
  5. Wow, glad to be back. Been looking and wanting to comment and post, but didn't want to start a new user name. Finally saw a post I made back in 2013 and found my user name. Been a crazy couple years. This is my first real finished kit in at least 2 years. Built for my gf in her color choices. Have learned some new detail painting techniques (mainly to take my glasses off to be able to see really close in). This is the AMT 66 coupe on the AMT 67 Mustang GT chassis and engine. The wheels came from the AMT fairlane GT/GTA I think. Or maybe the Mustang? Can't remember. Not the shiniest paint job, but the sheen is very convincing to my eye without being overdone. done with spray cans, no clear coat. I am trying to make every piece and part look as real as possible. This means all the basics of part cleaning and seam removal and ejector pin marks and so on. GF named her Sally - get it? "Mustang Sally" lol. Thos preprinted tires are the best - they really improve the realism. Comments welcome. Working on the 83 Hurst Olds next. Randy
  6. I'm just amazed at the workmanship. My box stock build is stalled at the moment. Work, life, paint time, etc. I'm to the point I want to get the body fitting together as closely as yours. Yours is looking great! Keep at it - can't wait to see the finished car. randy
  7. Very nice! I too, did one in that color a couple years ago. the revell kit makes custom so easy that it seemed a shame to not have a stock one to go with it. Randy
  8. My youngest son was very much into Cars movies when the Hudson race car came out. It was Doc Hudson to him and he likes to "help" me build, so we put the Hudson together as the race car, but had to paint it blue and make it look like Doc Hudson. I also have a Superbird on the bench and of course, he calls it "Mr Na King". But often asks if I'm still planning to paint it green. Yes. But it will always be Mr Na King to him. Who cares if it's accurate or not, as long as we're having fun, right? Randy
  9. I'm watching this build - I am trying to build the box version. Made a small error that resulted in having to reconstruct center section of one side of frame...oops. Good luck as you continue - can't wait to see more of it. randy
  10. My gosh I am still working on the reissues of that kit. Right now, my son & I are working on a 69 GTX conv. But the grille looks like the RR. Can't find a GTX grille in all the parts boxes (!). But I have at least 3 more variations I have picked up over the years. The stock coronet, a couple super bee P/Ses I found for $4 each at Kmart and a couple more. Plus all the parts boxes from them. I used the PS chassis under a little Red Truck, a 59 Desot Adventurer, a 68 Dart (unfinished) and more. that kit is/was the standard to replace almost any mopar chassis from that era. I probably won;t be buying any more though. AMT used that chassis under one of the Dodge Daytona reissues on the box art. But the kit inside was still the old one piece deal. I think I set one aside to use under a 70 Charger kit, too. Great kit. Randy
  11. Here's one I did last year. Hard to beat that kit for kustom stuff. Some of the parts on mine came from the 49 Ford, tires are from the 57 Chrysler, flippers from the 50 ford p/up (?). PE window cranks and door handles, leopard print decals on seats. Kinda pimpy and over the top, but aren't Kustoms supposed to be? Randy
