  1. I'll try it whenever I see it on the shelf, but Easy-Off works for me right now, especially the fume-free lemon scented kind; sometimes you have to use it more than once if the paint is too stubborn, and it's also good to have a bucket of hot water to kind of help the paint peel off.
  2. Revell last issued a '53 Belair as a 3-in-1 kit (stock, custom, or lowrider), so if looking to build original out the box with parts to spare, that's the way to go.
  3. Most definitely! I've got three crates full of 'em with some I haven't yet used like the blue Metalcast. I was using flat black & then flat white as primer for years until I discovered not Duplicolor (yet!) but Rust-Oleum actual primer; works really good.
  4. I've come to realize Revell's detailing with the '58, '63, & '64 Impalas to make the AMTs look sloppy and incorrect like the '64's unangled door pillars but I do like the Impala moldings, 409 & SS emblems of AMT's '63 however. Since my mind wandered from Camaros, another kit from both companies dawned on me: the Revell-preferred '64 GTO!
  5. In January I picked up AMT's '69 Camaro SS ragtop to find four things wrong: 1) the taillights are incorrect & too wide, 2) the hideaway doors didn't match right, 3) the rally wheel slots were too wide, & 4) the door panels seem to cave in at the dash; later that month I copped Revell's '69 SS Z/28 skill 1 snap kit to find TWO things wrong: 1) no Z/28 emblems, & 2) no backup lights under the rear bumper, but here's a good question: WHY DOES THE HOOD OPEN WITH NO ENGINE TO SHOW? That means that I'll have to put one in after I cut out the chassis-molded bottom even though I considered making it a ragtop since it's wider than AMT. Since then I've looked thru just about every magazine from Hot Rod to Super Chevy to even those that cater to strictly Camaros for some inspiration, and decided to leave well enough alone & build them as they are along with some mild aftermarket flavor. (BTW, there no skill 2 kits available.)
  6. '66 Impala? HALLELUJAH! I can finally rest assure & plan my 40th birthday present to myself (YES!); will it be the bench seat or Super Sport version? The '72 442 Cutlass ragtop is welcome to all since we can't get the twice-denied '87 donk .
  7. I think it was Modelhaus where i saw the complete resin kit, & i want the original pattern to match the back seat if it's available.
  8. Recently i've located a '62 Electra complete w/ a bench seat, & i'm building an AMT Electra w/ a total reconstructed interior (the molded buckets don't do a thing for me!); therefore i'm wondering if i can find one available?
  9. After a 12-year hiatus, lowriders brought me back to modeling by way of music videos like Eazy-E's 'Eazier Said Than Dunn' from '88 & Kid Frost's 'La Raza' from '90 both rekindled that lowrider fire, a purple/multicolored-topped '66 Grand Prix & a few '64 Chevys along the way, & strike three did it w/ my 1st Lowrider mag in July of '95; my 1st model since then was a '70 Impala that has taken many backseats to later kits until i retired it for the sake of becoming a lab rat of spray-painting techniques.
  10. The late Norman Whitfield once said, 'Don't change your ways, just be yourself 'cause you can't please everybody!' In other words, if it's clearly something you love to do, don't quit simply because your mother doesn't like it; and to blame your father for it is totally uncalled for. Modeling is one of the best hobbies to have if not the ONLY best! I'm willing to bet that it's a sentimental thing to you simply because of your father, and we know how much we love our fathers regardless of how bitter mothers may be toward them. It's obvious that she can't be satisfied no matter what, so just take it all in stride and keep on doin' what your father instilled in you; besides, everything our fathers teach us will stick with us just as much as what mothers teach.
  11. Mine's an early-90s Buyers' Choice, & i've tangled with it a little bit more since i saw a white ragtop '66 @ the dreamcruise; the engine's is pink, i sharpie-colored the valve covers so far & i plan to doctor up the distributor cap w/ spark plug wires as well as finish tutoning the interior, & do you know that this chassis is the '70 Wildcat's chassis?
  12. I already got a Grand Nat'l donk, so that might mean that i'll have to cop another if they don't put the Regal in plastic production; i refuse to put a diecast in my stable though i have a royal blue '48 Fleetline cuz of the sweet color!
  13. Mine's been under construction for over a year, it's covered in flat white until i lay a wild pink tutone down & it's being built lowrider style!
  14. So would that mean that the '87 Cutlass & Regal donks are reniged on again like last year?
  15. I have this kit, so i'm going to say it's too realistic to be a 1/25 scale!
  16. Unlike the T-bird, this 1 screams model w/ a real shiny floor!
  17. It looks too real to be a 1/25 scale w/ a back drop, but then again i could be fooled like the Who...
