INSPIRED THINKING- Cheap Tips for Frugal Modelers
diymirage replied to 62rebel's topic in Tips, Tricks, and Tutorials
only cheap trick that comes to my mind would be using plastic packagin material (from a box or grapes or batteries or you name it) to replicate glass i've never tried polishing it out but im sure a little polish and maybe some future will make it look good as new applied straight frim the box it looks like lexan -
+1 anyone who cant do their job and feels like they are too good to work for what they agreed they would work for needs to be enlisted into the army and put to work

allright guys....welcome to plan C (plan B was to cut out the yellow center from the factory decal and just use the red outline over the new paintjob...all went well untill the red outline decided to go from a single peice into million peices) so....feast you eyes on this...plan C i took a little bit of artistic freedom here but i wanted it to look as close as possible to the hotwheel (which i why i didnt want to go with a solid panel) since the base coat is black (actually a very nice looking metallice black from duplicolour) i have to use white decal paper since the red would fade into the background if i used clear paper so leaving the panel empty was not an option

Rat roadster with rat driving
diymirage replied to pepperdrumstix's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
i like it when the one rat (i think his name is richard) goes: we could use the boy...on drums it reminds me of when i was over at a coworkers house and my boy (16 months old) was drumming away on an empty bucket so my coworkers wife told me she was going to buy him a set of drums for his birthday (trying to rile me up) to wich i replied : good...maybe he'll lay of mine then -
and on that note...the wifey just got home so i will retract myself from this conversation this was great fun Peter

with the cougar i was driving straight dead center down the road the tibby...that one im not sure what lane i was on...i counted at least 3 before i hit the golf and i just realized something....insurance companies LOVE me
-
carefull drivers ? you guys dont even know what side of the street to drive on
-
allright, this is going to sound stupid but try this put your arms on your hips and walk through a door (this is to ilustrate how regular exhausts are) note the space between the doorframe and your elbows now warpa your arms around your tummy like your laughing reall hard walk through the door again and notice how much more room there is between the frame and your elbows this is in essence how block huggers work, they wrap the exhaust pipes closer to the block so there is more room in the engine bay...or there is less room needed in the engine bay so it fits in a smaller car

i was in the UK once...im glad i dont live there too
-
you know...i havent had a accident or even a ticket since they gave me back my license for the second time and uhm....its not just cars iether
-
hey...heres a kicker...thats a point...for ME because i didnt hug a tree with that tibby...i hugged a....wait for it....VW (which coincedentally was one of the main reasons i bought one, that golf had hardly a scratch on it)
-
not sure on the points yet....after closer examination i had to take some away due to all these VWs being jettas where as all mine were passats (its in the details remember) since we were on the topic of ford(products) going straight...here is a nice shot of the only ford product i ever owned i learned a valuable lesson in that car...you CAN NOT go 3 wide down 16th street (at the risk of going off topic, that ford got crushed between a dodge and a chevy)
-
blockhuggers is a generic term for any type of headers (exhaust manifolds) that run closer to the engine block then usual they are designed that way to allow you to fit large engines in small spaces (on a side note, check out the way the exhaust was ran on the '63 426 ramcharger (dodge 330) like you have EVER seen a cop without his shades on...now you know why
-
that is exactly the type of tree hugging i was refering to when i was talking about taking a ford down a windy road too bad you seemed to miss that but...you do get points for the homefront attack (assuming this wasnt a lucky shot)
-
if i really wanted to become a tree hugger i'd buy me a ford and take it down a winding road, the way they handle i'd be hugging a tree in no time
-
i resent that remark. why, if would call me that to my face i would break a branch of off the first tree i saw and whack you across the head with it
-
looks good to me but be sure to raise it up just a little or that crankshaft pulley will grind into the crossmember be sure to do some test fitting on the headers, you may need to get some blockhuggers for it
-
well, what did you expect from a skoda superb driver?

The Future is Now!
diymirage replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
actually Charly, i feel obligated to tell you i havent had a whole lot of personal experience with cancer one of my grandfathers died of it but i was so young i dont remember him cancer was just a disease i used as an example, with my wife being a pediatrician she comes home with stories of her patients who at times don't even make it to thier first birthday. hearing thier stories makes me wonder at times how our priorities as a scociety are set (along the same train of though i found the whole space race a complete waiste of resources...why try to live on mars when we cant even provide a decent standard of living on this planet) i cant quite remember which one it was but didnt one of the greek philosophers say we measure the richness of a society by how it treats its poor? (i'm on my way to work right now so ill read the articles and comment on them later) -
thats what i did the first time somehow the black paint got too stuck to the tape and when i removed the mask off came the paint (look at the pictures i posted, its very clear by the wheelwells) so this time im trying to put the red on as a decal
