they were the biggest ones i could find, short of M/T sportsmans in the mean time i changed my mind on the paint the chassis will be deep purple/almost black metallic nailpolish and the engine/body will be aqua blue metallic nailpolish

the flag is the least of the problems but somehow we always get the debates on what exact orange the general was, what factory options it had, what engine it ran, what type of push bar, what type of roll bar, if we should remove the sidemarkers, if the doors are welded shut and what type of maps go in the glove compartement -
pictures loaded all of this is a quick mock up...a few parts are glued yet but i cant do anything untill after i completely finish up the drivetrain (i do think this is very close to the final stance) because of the way the frame will be build i will need to do a lot of the building/painting before i can finish that up the front fork is completly scratches, it has 10 pieces right now and is still missing a few the engine will be painted chrysler engine red, the fram will be gloss black with some allclad detailing on the front forks and the body panels (assuming im putting them on) will be some yet too be determined nailpolish red well, thats enough talk, here are some (louzy) pics

nope, the engine in this build is a LA block, your valve covers are reserved for a hemi build

the build.... sorry, still waiting on the pictures to load but feel free to speculate

the story.... Billy junior was bored. it was the dog days of summer, he had just turned 15 and all his buddies were off on vacation. his mom had gotten sick of him moping around the house so she send him off to go bother his dad out in the garage. Bill senior had his hands full rebuilding the hemi but he had always enjoyed watching his boy playing with cars. as a youngster billy had spend his time building models of cars and modifying them just like his daddy. maybe it was time he tried his hand on something a bit more substanstial. Billy, dad said, go check in that far corner, there are some "spare parts" that were left over from the dodge, there is some stock in the shop, see if you cant cobble up something to keep you busy, you know where the welder is. a bobby pulled the tarp back he couldnt beleive what he saw, there, under a pile of junk (doors, dash radiator was what seemed to be a brand spanking new 273 V8 with a 3 speed tranny still attached. as the wheels started turning in his head he invisioned what to make this into.....

land speed / salt lakers - suspension?
diymirage replied to Jantrix's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
you know, i am working on a top secret project myself where the rear end bolt right up to the engine...no driveshaft what soever or rear suspension im thinking of calling it the suicide machine if you DO build a monster like this with rear suspension and no driveshaft wont the whole engine follow the movement of the rear axle ? -
land speed / salt lakers - suspension?
diymirage replied to Jantrix's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
seems to me that if i were to build something like this i would apply the same principles as they bo when building a motorcycle just build two ladders bars that act as a swingarm and put your suspension on there kinda like the second picture in this link only with a drive shaft and much wider, with a spring/shock absorber on each side http://www.members.tripod.com/groep004/Swingarm.htm -
what engine is in the dodge A-100?
diymirage replied to diymirage's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
the only reason i bought it was that it just might be the best bang for the buck model out there i used my 40% off coupon at hobby lobby so i got it for around 10 dollars if i were to build this as a stock A-100 that gives me a nice set of rims for the parts box AND the beginnings of a one-off race car that runs a hilborn injected hemi (cant go wrong there) allready connected to who knows what posidrive rear end that comes in its own subframe to boot all i gotta do is add a front axle and something to hold onto and im set -

what engine is in the dodge A-100?
diymirage replied to diymirage's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
that mount is long gone...it interfered with the build this was going into (no details revealed yet...not untill i come up with a name...but im thinking 3-4-8 or something) -
Do you shop online?
diymirage replied to Harry P.'s topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
if im looking for cheap thrills i buy stuff online like mentioned before, you can get 2 kits online for the price of one in a store obviously this cuts into the profit of the brick and mortar stores and i dont want to see them disapear so me and the wife have an understanding, whenever we do make the trip to ryders in grand rapids (45 minute drive) im allowed to spend 20-30 dollars on a kit or some supplies just to support them -

what engine is in the dodge A-100?
diymirage replied to diymirage's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
ooooone more question about this kit (using it for a project and i'd like to pretend i know what im talking about) the tranny provided with the 273...what is it ? -
i really dont like it (dont care for this type of build in any scale) but i really do like the craftsmanship your displaying i especially like the looks of the rear bumper, it looks like a aftermarket piece one silly question though, in the third shot it looks like the cone filter sticks out too far for the hood to clear, is that an optical illusuion ?
