  1. i was going to reply that my B5.5 (2003) was a longtitudinal FWD that was available in AWD when i realized......that car is almost 10 years old funny...it seemed brand new to me as for VW having a bad rep for quality, thats what they get for building cars in mexico again, no offence but mexican build VW are kept out of the european market (though they do cast and assemble engine/parts there) and VW has a spotless reputation there i never had a single issue with iether of my passats really, the only thing i can think off to complain about was the clutch in my old passat was burned out at 90K...but that car spiked at 17 PSI and would hold 15 pounds all day long so thats kind of a chicken/egg deal (and yes, after the CC the passat definatly lost some of it easthetic appeal)
  2. funny seeing how the skoda superb is a rebadged VW passat just like as much as the audi A4 is...and each of them atrack a different type of people now, if they offerend them here i would buy a seat version hands down but since the passat is all the have (and the A4 is mucho more expensive) it is interesting to see how the passat holds a different place in each market it is offered
  3. great...dead pale ale...yay you can go ahead and buy me a henieken instead. actualy...carlsberg is tasty thats english right ? and you're right, its your model, build it however you want
  4. no but he had about as much credebility as he did
  5. looking good if you think you had a hard time with those decals wait till you see mine, im building the same car but im only using the red part of the decal i trimmed the yellow out as best i could and i am NOT looking forward to installing them
  6. im telling you Luc, rent class of "99 and tell me this isnt where we are heading
  7. im on my second passat right now (a B6) there is still the CC that is the generation after this one that will probably replace the one i have now in the future but there is no way i will buy the generation after that no offence to any mexicans here but i refuse to buy a german car that wasnt build in germany
  8. you my friend should have a good look between the outgoing US model of the jetta and the incoming US model of the jetta here are some highlights OUTGOING : disc brakes all around, multilink rear suspension, electric reclining seatbacks, adjustable armrest, gas strutted hood INCOMING: rear drum brakes, torsion beam rear suspension, manual reclining seatbacks, no adjustable armrest, hood with prop rod you were saying ?
  9. no but its simple lets say for the fun of it we decided to only focus growing corn so we cut off all the funding for raising cattle and outlaw cattle farms alltogether sure, the now ex cattle farmers will know nothing about growing corn but 10 years down the road they will have aclimated to the cornfarms and have forgotten about their former cattle life the same principle applies to our topic at hand sure, now we have different scientist working in different fields with different funding but if we were to pull our heads together and maybe realign our priorities then 10 years down the road this whole robot car idea will be forgotten and those who were dedicated to it will be reemployed working on things that actually matter
  10. i think the reason for his question is the way a lot of racecars run their belts they replace the belt driven fan with a electric one to reduce power robbing drag from the engine so im guessing the engine he has doesnt have a pulley for the fan and thats why he asking....so in short, you need to install an electric fan as for the hood...i would just cut a whole in it and have the engine stick out a bit you can always scratchbuild an enclosur on top of that
  11. i was cruizing downtown the other day when i saw a legit cop on one of those things it had the PD marking on it and everything never before have i had such a strong urge to run my car up the sidewalk and put someone out of thier missery he just looked rediculous
  12. are you just going around the forum posting that face ? this is the third on ive seen, all with timestamps within 3 minutes Rich, for your question where you can find some nice engines...ebay is always good type in "junkyard lot" (or i guess scrapyard lot since your british) and see what that brings up if you want to buy full kits a few that have the extra engine in them are the revell 68 charger, the revell 32 ford, the lindberg coca cola dodge A-100 and the modified stockers 53 ford carhauler especially the 53 ford comes with a ton of options and some nice diorama parts (tool box, welder) of course you could get any of the ones you were following on ebay but with these kits i mentioned you wont find yourself looking for an engine later
  13. i was always told at cruizing speeds you want to keep 3 "lines" in betweeen you and the car ahead of you (of course this only works on roads where you are allowed to pass other cars
  14. if someone is stupid enough to drive at a speed LOWER then the posted speed limit i should be allowed to pass them on the left, cut in front of them when im 3/4 of the way there and send them into the median where they can continue to park same with "merging" traffic that doesnt use a blinker unless your Matthew Brownlee im NOT moving over
  15. i used to have a B5.5 passat with the iconic 1.8T engine in it i had a company in maryland reprogram the ecu so that instead of 7 pounds of boost it would spike at 17 and hold 15 pounds all day long that car was a blast to drive, everytime it hit 2700 RPM it felt like being rearended by a semi truck was a great sleeper, it looks like a upclass family car but it ran like a sleeper great for putting hondas in thier place now, if you could put that in the beetle it would definatly make it interesting
  16. at least when the soccer mom runs you over you know it wasnt intenional (unless you were wearing a dallas cowboys yersey, then your free game) now, a computer driven car...you know if it is computer driven the government will be able to hack it and use it as a weapon and they will do whatever thier bossesd at AOL tell them didnt we learn anything from "class of 99" ?
  17. thats right, i came across one of the free stations that play movies from the 60s and im watching something called bikini beach the thing that caught my eye (no it wasnt the bikinis) was tommy Ivo's twin engine dragster this is what wikipedia has to say about it The dragsters used in the drag racing scenes (shot at Pomona Raceway) were very popular - and successful - at the time. They include: Dean Jeffries' "Manta Ray," Larry Stellings' "Britannica," the Greer, Black and Prudhomme fuel dragster "Freida" - driven by Don Prudhomme, 'TV' Tommy Ivo's fuel dragster and four-Buick-engined "Showboat" dragster - the one Clyde drives to a new speed record. Ivo was also a technical advisor for the film, as well as go-kart champ Von Deming - billed in the credits with the title, "West Coast Go-Kart Champion." best part is...i wouldnt have recognized it if it werent for the builds i've seen on this forum (and no self driving car can ever replace that)
  18. between you and me...if i had to drive a ford i dont think id wanna put more then 2100 miles a year on it either
  19. seeing as how the pontiac firebird and the chevy camaro are about as closely related as a opel kadett and a vauxhaull astra are that engine should drop right in but nothing is as iconic as a hemi just to give you an idea, let me dispay a few of my hemis here is a 426 with hilborne fuel injection (kitbashed but you should be able to find this set-up in the cocacola dodge A-100) this one is a 392 desoto firedome engine...oldschool power and looks great in any rod, i got this one from the modified stockers 53 ford carhauler and this one is the daddy of them all...twin torbocharged supercharged dual overhead cam 426 hemi. the turbos are from shucky, the supercharger is kitbashed and the engine is from the AMT pro street superbee
  20. yes but...untill they come up with a cure for cancer we need all the people who die in car crashed for organ donors so untill they cure cancer there is no need to make driving safer on a more serious note though, i dont care how safe you make cars, people will die it is not a matter of preventing people from dying, its a matter of increasing the quality of life preceeding death and dying of cancer is generally a lot more painfull and suffering then dying in a car crash
  21. sounds good Jairus i was planning on doing the brakes on the "ssat today but everything went south so now that is prosponed to tomorrow after church it did however leave me with a few hours to work on the GTX got a chance to finish the interior, slap some primer on the body AND lay down the silver once the dries i will skip the red alltogether and go straight to black then a quicky clearcoat and ill try to ad the red in decal form cant wait to see how it comes out this time
  22. well i for one dont like it when machines get more smarter then me (syntax enhanced for clarity) between you and me...i dont even like DRLs when IM driving I wanna be the one who decides when the lights come on man, i miss mayberry
  23. this is just rediculous what a waiste of money, technology and time no wonder there is no cure for cancer
  24. you should just build it on a rolling table so you can roll it right to the window and have the sit outside no ducting needed
