Question about Micro Mesh
diymirage replied to martinfan5's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
im sure i'll get comment on this because i seem to get them everytime i mention this but i do 90% of my wetsanding in the shower, plenty of water, nice and warm and clean-ups a breeze plus, it gives you something to do while yer in there now, i do have one question to add to this, i've been hearing alot about "block sanding" a model i understand how it works on 1:1 cars but what would you use on a 1/25 scale ? if you would get a block to scale it would be impossible to hold so what is the trick and what material makes a good block? -
let me know which ones you guys pick and ill enter you to the list Chuck, are those the stock wheels on that boneshaker? they dont look like hotwheels wheels to me

he did do a great job of setting the bar but im about to finish mine (i hope) and that should drop it down quite a bit feel free to still join, the build runs untill october so plenty of time for most people to get one done hey Mike, if i could awnser that for Jairus (not sure if he's aware his model is on display here yet or not) i'll just quote his post from the build to give you some insight Jairus said : Been working hard this last week. Finished three t-shirt designs and helped wrap a top fuel dragster. But for the three day weekend I spent some time just modeling, and managed to finish up the wheels for my build. The redline is hand painted with acrylic red and the wheels are aluminum Revell items with Lindberg '66 Chevelle hub caps turned-down and used as inserts. Finished chassis... .... oops, how'd that get there? Yeah, I know you guys hate slot cars. But if I am going to build a contest car it'll be a darned contest car! If it's going to be a slammer or curbside.... well, why bother making it just a dust collector? So for this build I assembled a chassis that can run it around the track at a good scoot! Plus it has been my experience that slot car collectors pay way better than do model car collectors and I already have a couple buyers for this... Plus, in some way... it makes my build more realistic in that it actually rolls and moves just like the REAL HOT WHEELS CAR! Anyway, here it is with the body. Time for some paint... onward we go! (end qoute)

hey guys for those of you who dont know we're having a little community build project going on where we build 1/25 cale replicas of 1/64 cale hotwheels the first person to finish is jairus with his rendition of the classis 68 dodge deora
-
looks great jairus, i took the liberty to put a post in the "under glass" section like i mentioned in my origenal post you can find it here (i'd like to remind everyone to post all your finished builds there) only discrepancy i see is that in your build the boards actually fit the bed where in the hotwheel they are pertruding into the cab are you doing the twin engine next? as for my build, it was on halt for a few weeks since i had a friend from out of town over i should be able to start fiddling with it soon again (i think all thats left is detail painting and final assembly)

just use the metric system 1 inch is 25.4 mm so on 1/25 scale 1 mm for 1 inch is close enough i'd say

by popping a fresh blade in the knife and opening up the box in a more serious fashion, nothing in my life (other then the stuff i do for church) is very organized and model building is no different i have 2 builds that match what you are talking about, one is "rusty" from Joe Dirt, the other is Rufus, a 90s opel E kadett i've been slowly building a stash of references and parts if the reference is physical it goes in the box with the model, so do the parts all the electronic stuff just goes somewhere on the puter then i will start building and keep going untill i hit a roadblock, at which point i will go online for further research

dodge super bee
diymirage replied to richcrabman's topic in General Automotive Talk (Trucks and Cars)
on a unrelated note i once did a custom decal for a superbee for a fellow member and something didnt sit right. i used a scan of a revell superbee stripe and while following the instructions to apply it i could not get it to look right i looked and looked and all of a sudden it struck me.....the bee on the decal was facing the wrong way on the real superbee the bee faces the front of the car but on the revell decal it faces the rear -
nice to see some progess on this ride i take it this means everything is on the up and up with Amber?

The Future is Now!

uh-juh-huh...havent you ever heard of diesels ? funny story, i was working as an overhaul mechanic ones and we build different stages of diesel engines, some short blocks, some dress engines sme comeplete plug and play the plug and play engine we would test run on a bench, slap on some fuel, water and oil and run her for an hour or so well, one friday one of my coworkers had build a complete engine and had wheeled it over to the test area he had put on 5 quarts of oil but hadnt done anything else to it the next monday that guy had the day off and so another guy went in to test the engine, he hooked up the fuel, put on the water lines and dropped in 5 quarts of oil well, the engine fired up just fine but as it started building oil presure it started picked up revs at one point it was running almost 5000 RPM the guy testing it shut off the fuel but the engine just kept running, it turned out the oil was overflowing into the head and pouring into the cylender by way of the valvetrain the whole engine was just running on oil
