The '65 Impala was the only Impala not to have the seperate frame from the floor pan. I know, I know, the flaming starts already. Still, can't wait to get my mitts on that one.

Don Prudhomme's 1971 Hot Wheels Funny Car

Check out the February 2009 issue of MOPAR ACTION. A six page spread on the 2 cars with lots of photos and stories. Great start for the Flamed White Snake. -
This kit was painted, cleared, stripped, painted and cleared again. I became irritated when the blue strobe stripe went down purple. After that, it sat for a long time, but I figured I should finish it and try again later cause it is a really good kit. By the way, that photo-etched hex pattern overlay for the tail lights is one harsh mistress. It got destroyed after the 4th time trying to apply it, and I didn't even bother to wire the engine. Other than that, this kit fell together. The wheels are from that 1/24 '70 MACH1 kit.

Revells 1:25 '70 Challenger 2 n 1

Well, if it is between this kit or the '72 Linberg, this one is the clear winner. I am building mine up and will have some photos of it soon so you can judge for yourself. I just need to pick a color from that fab list of 1970 Mopar paint chips. -

I have seen them at $22.95 all around here. I think I would pass on it if I couldn't find it cheaper. I got that '68 mustang 2'n1 kit for $15.99, so I know that some are trying to stay competitive with e-sales. I am hoping that 1977 Pontiac Trans Am is next on the diecast to plastic list. That was an awesome kit, complete with the Bandit's hat and a CB. -

First off, this kit is not finished with screws. Second, it is a bit different than its Vanishing Point predecessor. The VP die-cast comes with the R/T Rallye dash, while this new one has the standard 120mph Challenger dash that probably would have come with a T/A (cause they were built from base models). It also has front spoilers that are not on the die-cast. The dual snorkel air cleaner is not textured and is bigger than the unit on the '71 Charger kit.The 1/24th Hemi Cuda Shaker look really good peering through the T/A opening. The body is about a 1/4" longer than AMT version. I think the added length is between the cowl and the deck. Were it falls is the lack of rocker tuck, which makes the sides look tall. One more thing, the VP die cast was a console delete, while this has a console molded to the floor. They both have power window switches on the inner door panels. Altogether, I am happy. It will build up nice, and there is a ton of parts to scavenge. Oh yeah, the fact that all the parts to build a nice stock T/A, except the small block engine might be a minor upset for some. You instead get a big block with a six pack set-up. My LHS charged $16.99, so I won't ask for heads to roll. Hahahaha. -
That is a very cool car. Very inspired and very inspiring. The profile is balanced even with the giant motor up front. What engine is that?
-
The hood comes from the MPC '72 Road Runner kit. I figured someday I will have to build an Air-Grabber '72 RR GTX car, much like the one on the cover of Hemmings Muscle Machines this month. It will be sky blue like the 1:1 car I have in the Garage. Your '74 looks very moparry. I invented that word, kinda like the term chevyized when describing the engine with anodized hardware and moroso valve covers.

Quick update. The color choice was very hard, cause '70-'71 had some of the best colors Chrysler ever offered. I went with a gunmetal that I liked, over the butterscotch and plum crazy that my buddy suggested. I have a bit of painters remorse, but I will make the most out of this and then try again later. Next time you see it will be Under Glass. The decals are Kieth Marks by the way.

This looks amazing. Are you going to display it upside down? Just kidding. Can't wait for more of this build to see the color and interior you chose.
-
Yeah, I know. This is the MPC '71 that is in 1/25th. The Monogram has some parts worth stealing, but I do not like the pointy nose on that kit.
-
Thank you all for the feedback. That orange is going to be a white interior in the finished model. I thought about the butterscotch, but I am going to save that for a '73 Cuda down the pike. I should have photos sunday of the color on the body.
-
By the way. I am using the Charger's glass motor, and interior. The interior has made it a lot trickier, but I think it will be worth it. The package tray and the inner doors had some heavy modifications.

I am attemping the chassis swap from the '71 Charger kit. My photos can explain it better than I can. I have seen this done to '73-'74 Plymouth, but not a '71-'72 Plymouth. Also I have not decided on a color yet. Open to suggestions. My spray booth is in a picture. I have been thinking about putting some working drawings on here for some time. I built it with plywood and poplar. I think it could be made for cheap but it requires lots of circ saw cutting.

MPC 1970 Dodge Coronet Super Bee
1972 Satellite replied to 1972 Satellite's topic in Car Kit News & Reviews
It looks identical to me, but for whatever reason I am really excited about it. I found my R/T pitchfork hood and side scoops. They did clean up the mold a bit cause some of the pieces have a nice polish on the plastic. -
Let me be the first to show you what is in this very full box. The kit has all it's pieces bagged and the chrome tree is even wrapped with tissue paper. The decal sheet is outstanding, the kind you would pay $10+ for. The only thing that bugs me is the missing seam where the fender meets the cowl. But at a price of $13.99 I think I will let it slide. The box art alone is worthy of a purchase.

Beautiful. It looks real even.

Lando is a man, not a system. I had to create a new account cause the old one went kaput. And also, the world could use more than a couple clones of me. Thanks for the birthday wishes. I had the photo taken at Glamour-shots. -
I like the stripes over the door handles on the 1:1 and the models stripes are under the handles. I think I am starting to like the 72+ ralleye wheels over the 70-71s. Nice model of a great car.
-
I am about to fit the body on the chassis, but there is some fit issues. Do you have any pointers for joining the two together. The interior is in the body and the firewall is in as high as it will go. I have about 1/16" to go. Or should I get my clamps. Yours looks beautiful. What wheels are you using?

Could someone identify this song?

This is a much better song and video. And Charlie Ryan was the songwriter of Hot Rod Lincoln. Cody covered it in 1972. -
De-canting Testers lacquer

I thought I did, but I guess it takes more than a few minutes. It sits now with the lid off until tomorrow morn. -
I have to correct your facts, cause 8 3/4 came with hemi & 440 automatic cars. A36 Performance Axle Package w/ 3.55. I am also pretty sure that the Dana did not come with AC. A32 Axle Package was a Dana option code as was A33 Track Pak & A34 Super Track pak. In short 8 3/4 rear ends where the "norm" for Mopar muscle cars while the Dana was an option. Most of this info came from 1970 Charger registry. The 1970 Hemi's Standard Axle Ratios: …3.54 w/4-spd w/sure grip…3.23 w/auto.

This afternoon I managed to get 3/4 of a spray can of Panther Pink into a 2oz glass jar. It sat for 5+ hours and I opened it and a little hiss of gas came out. I shook it up later and opened it and the thing spilled pink everywhere. Same reaction just a couple minutes ago. So my question is "what the heck?". Off to dip my hands in thinner to remove this Barney the Dinosaur color.
